  1. How fucking disappointing. Notwithstanding the thread title, there's not one genuine insight into the weather this winter in the whole bloody piece

    Anton?

Isn't Ferdinand, well, a bit rubbish? Didn't he have a shocker last season? Sunday is the first day of the week by the way, since way back when.
  3. I shot the sheriff. But I did not shoot the deputy. If you are guilty you must pay
  4. Great. I hope he goes out for a good night out on the lash, he's earned it
  5. Plainly we should scrap the transfer system and have complete freedom of movement. Every season each mega club could have an auction to decide which player goes where, with the money going straight to the hard pressed put upon wage slave (aka the player). All the other clubs can piss off and ideally most of them would be liquidated anyway. Why England persists with 92 clubs when you only need four is beyond me really...... Does Sepp Blatter mean s*** stirrer in German, Parky?
  6. We'd certainly pick up some new fans. If we could play a team owned by a prominent Israeli we could play out the middle eastern conflict through the game of football
  7. Allardyce isn't interested in Joey Barton's welfare, he's only interested in justifying the mistakes he's made for us. Big Sam is never wrong appparently.
  8. Apart from an private equity firm that deals in sports (mainly broadcasting) saying they were approached, there is no proof what so ever. Had you heard of said media firm before Friday? Lets say they want to move into the British market. What better way to get your name into the mainstream press than talks over 'buying' a football club? Even if Ashley denies it (again), their aim is accomplished Yep, to quote the BBC article: It is not known who made the approach to InterMedia. There are many other people who might approach InterMedia about this and not be a club employee. Someone perhaps who wants to buy us but needs the money. Good of you to repeat the point I made about 15 posts ago (but without the patronising use of large fonts). Thanks So we argee that someone representing NUFC or talking about buying NUFC has spoken to the this yankee company? Yes, I think those 2 scenarios are possible, or there are others such as a corporate finance company looking to make a deal happen. If it did happen, I think it's more likely that it was a match maker than someone representing Ashley however. It could just as easily be bollocks from the press mind you, there seem to be plenty of people out there spreading malicious gossip about us these days.

  10. I'm not too sure that many people think he's not in it for the money just because we don't all see this or these stories that are coming out this week as being true. I don't doubt for one minute that he'd sell the club for a random price of £420 million to a random company in America, what I doubt is that he contacted them and named that price. We've seen an offer of £320 million being mentioned, I think he'd probably sell the club for that if he was after a quick profit and he'd be mad not to take the money and run. As for him pretending to care for the club, he might actually care about the club for all we know, he certainly looks as if he does. I agree. Strange to seek out buyers to ask for a silly price too. Mind you they were American
  11. Does anybody really believe what they read in the press anymore? I know I don't, unless it's confirmed by quotes from the club. At best this sort of story is based on hearsay, and at worst it's malicious gossip put about by people who hate our club, fed by clueless journos who have to fill column inches for a living. I don't doubt Ashley would sell if the price was right - he's a businessman after all and all his assets will have their price. Plus he has no emotional attachment to us. However just because he would sell up for a huge profit, if the circumstances were right, doesn't make this story true. I haven't read one single thing that takes the story beyond unfounded rumour - even the position of the unnamed party who supposedly approached these money men. For all we know they could have been approached by someone trying to make a deal who has no affiliation at all to Ahsley - this sort of thing happens all the time in business, there's big money out there for brokering deals.
  12. Since when did you become so knowledgeable about Jonas Gutierrez? The minute you realised you could use his signing as some ammo for another spot of moaning? Just finished watching dvd, read all the fans forum and spainish football magazines as well as talking to my friends from spain. do some research from the net... Shit. I expect our people have only seen him play once or twice. If only they'd thought this through....
  13. he is always in and out of the team. was even dropped during the second half of last season.basically, he is real mallorca's version of Milner maybe even less important. Quite dispensable..... read in the fans forum, that the fans are happy to get rid of this deadweight. some are upset cos he is a very hardworking player and i have enough of grafters...we have too many..looking like a League 1 midfield soon. Anwyay, he is not the creative and flair player and not an integral part of the team. their key playmaker is Arango...shld sign him. like my spain friend say, he plays like Emerton. i do not rate Emerton. No offense, but I wouldn't base my opinions on a fans forum. It might not be entirely representative....personally I'm more inclined to trust Keegan's opinion and that of our scouting team Based on track record, i would not trust them very much on unknown quality. unless the whole scouting team has been revamped following KK's appt. It's been substantially revamped since Ashley took over is my impression

  15. I was not happy and predicts a relegation fight which turns out to be right. not everyone, am sure i read similar comments like mine last season. i wouldnt exactly call that a 'relegation fight' to be honest. ? anyway, we are being named as relegation candidates by Eurosports. That's it then, we're f***ed huh? u believed in these pundits??? we will not finish in the top 10 but definitely at least 15, but that is we better get some bodies in. I'm sorry, I don't understand your point?
  16. Personally I think it's a bit early to draw conclusions about the club's transfer activities on the basis of the first signing. And to me, where the player comes from doesn't matter, it's how they play for us that counts. For instance Peter Beardsley came to us from Toronto Blue Star iirc (first time around). what bothers me is not that he comes from a small club but he is not even their top 5 player or an important player for them. Weren't they holding out for 10m from Portsmouth? Wasn't he a first team regular?

  19. People are so negative because as keegan said, we need atleast 4 players to go straight in to the starting 11. We have gotten one now, and we seriously need creativity on our central midfield. We have now lost emre, barton is in jail, so we are left with Smith, Geremi, and butt as our only natural players in central mid. We got zoggy and Milner who can play in the middle, but is better of playing out wide. If one of our 4 backs get injured, we only have Cacapa and David Edgar to come in for them. We are currently playing with 3 strikers, and we only have 3 decent strikers, which one of them is injured half of the season. Is given/harper good enough to be our goalies? We have krul who is up and comming, but i would personal love if we went for that russian goalie. We have a thin squad, and we have gotten rid of more players than we have bought. Well enough about that.. Jonas Gutierrez is a player many of us dont know about, that is why we are concerned. He doesnt have a good goalscoring record, or assist record. Personally i think we should have gotten a central midfield player, but maybe keegan is thinking of using him as a wingstriker up front, or going back to 4-4-2. Is anyone suggesting that the current squad is sufficient for the season ahead? We still have plenty of time to get players in......how many clubs have signed loads of players so far? We won't know till the transfer window shuts whether the effort that will be going on behind the scenes is good enough. Personally I am not going to get upset about who we haven't signed a week into the transfer window..... If you look at the top 8, they all have larger squads than us. They are most likely to buy squad player, and maybe one world class player to make them better. We had a small squad last season, and we have gotten rid the likes of Emre(was considered 1st team player when he wasnt injured) and Rozenhal(was 1st team player at the start of the season, and I rate him higher than Cacapa). We have gotten one player in, and he isnt a MC or a DC. We need like Keegan said 4 players to walk straight in to the 1st team, but we also lack squad players. If we buy like 8 players in this transfer window, we will still have a small squad. I dont know what our ambition is for next season, but i think we should aim for a uefa cup spot atleast. Then we need players in quick, because they need to know each other to play good. If we sign a player in middle the start of august, he will have like 20 days to get to know the other players on the pitch. And would most likely look like Luque when the season starts. I don't disagree we have a small squad. Ideally we'd get several players in for pre-season but the reality is some will join early and some later in the window. The main thing is to get them in. I don't think this is different to how other clubs operate......in reality we're suffering from the dross we've signed in recent seasons, the squad's needed major surgery and I don't think we're going to fix that in one window, as much as I'd love us to do that.
  20. I wonder if he really turned us down. Especially if we didn't make an offer in the first place

  22. Surprised they left out Daniel Cordone. A terrible haircut - centre parting, mullet & pony-tail held on with a piece of string http://www.sporting-heroes.net/files_football/CORDONE_D_20000820_NF_L.jpg
  23. Nope, total waste of space aswell. Maybe some Newcastle fans love him because he was such a good player and was a geordie, not being from Newcastle myself the geordie thing doesnt have an effect to me, so i just see him as the t*** that he is. Gazza's got worse as he's got older. When he first broke into the toon first team he came across as a canny lad, a good laugh not a nutter (I can remember him on Football Focus waving around a mars bar when they ribbed him about his weight). He seemed to start going downhill after the injury for Spurs in the FA Cup vs Forest, the process accelerating through wife beating, divorce and hitting rock bottom when he quit football. You can call him many things - mentally ill, insecure, attention seeking, desperate to be loved, a wasted talent, alcoholic - but I don't think he's a twat. I can understand why people may not like him, given his media profile and the chances he's wasted, but if anything he deserves pity not hatred imo.
