Not a massive fan of McTominay. That's not to say he's a bad player, he just wouldn't be your Bruno esq signing. I suspect the reason we might be targeting the likes of him and Tierney is something to do with homegrown quotas? Or have I got that wrong and it doesn't work like that. Also, if we do sign him, it will be a decent deal. We won't over pay (I know value is a subjective thing). I'm certainly not worried. Our transfer team have nailed it so far.

My take was that ASM was awful but that doesn't mean he IS awful or can't be useful in the future. The more and more he shows inconsistencies, the more likely it is that Howe will be tempted to cash in. It seems he's a "horses for courses", type player. But I still haven't worked out which course. Neither Wolves nor Forest were counter attacking games and he was good in one and poor in another. If someone offered us 40m for him, I'd take it. We could use that to get Diaby for a few more million and instantly improve us but I'd also not be unhappy to see ASM next year.

If we are playing European football, Zaha wouldn't be the worst free transfer. I know the Zaha debate has been done to death on here but I can't see many downsides to Zaha on a 2 year deal. Our forward line lacks massive depth and Zaha could play up front as a 3rd or 4th option, as well as out wide. I don't think it's a deal we would look at, due to age but...
