  1. I always find it interesting when someone has the inside track on who we aren't so interested in but rarely has the inside track on who we are interested in. A very specific set of sources.
  2. Programme pete has poo pooed this player.
  3. Or Longstaff ends up getting called up from Brazils world cup squad.
  4. Don't be ridiculous.... Let's get Bruno to invite him for some footy in his garden... let's pretend it's Joelintons birthday or something... meanwhile we will get Danny A to draft up a contract... we can get Bruno to make him sign a "birthday card" whilst secretly underneath he will have signed a 6 year deal.
  5. There's 3 weeks, we signed 4 players in that time in January. I'm now braced for it going into the final week. The good news is that we only have two weeks to wait for the final week. Although it seems to take us about 5 days to do a medical so we might want to get a crack on.
  6. Absolutely mental this. We would field a full strength side and smash them back into the grotty little town they came from. Anyway, I want home games, don't care about the opposition.
  7. This thread of all threads perplexes me the most. I don't think I've seen one kit that is unanimously liked on here. It's almost as if people have different tastes. Personally, I love the sentiment, I like the shirt and I reckon other fans will think it looks decent.
  8. We won't go without. It's easy rhetoric with 3 weeks left to say "we only want players who will make a difference!" but you know what would make a difference?...having someone like Dennis as back up to Wilson. We are trying our upmost to maintain a high standard in the market, this is because we don't want to be lumped with an expensive player on a long contract who isn't any better than Almiron or Fraser or Wood. Towards the back end of the window, we will look for more pragmatic solutions. Burn and Targett were pragmatic solutions in January and they worked out. Right now we are holding our nerve and resisting the temptation to spend our money on Cornet etc.
  9. I can see him going to City of they sell Bernardo Silva but it won't be for anywhere near 70m.... he's not English FFS. If they rate him higher than Bruno, then 45/50m max IMO.

I agree with @Ronaldohere. We have to show the likes of Bruno and Botman our progression, as well as potential new signings. Looking at the likely opposition, taking whatever you can from the opening day, West Ham will be there abouts but the rest were largely underwhelming. Palace might have something about them and Brighton are always punchy. I do also agree that if we have a 3/4 key injuries we will suffer but the long break in the winter may save our bacon in that regard. January will give us a chance to replenish, where others may not. It remains to be seen what state Man United are in. You suspect Ten Haag will eventually get a tune out of them but it could also snowball. The next game for them will be interesting
  11. You laugh but I could absolutely see Wood at Everton. Sadly that would leave us even more in need of a striker.
  12. Keane has been a terrible signing for them. They kept persisting with him too. I doubt he will be there come September. Will end up in the champo or at forest
  13. Yeah i think Lampard plays a back 5 too. Everton won't be as easy to beat this year but are going to struggle massively for goals. They are effectively Burnley now.
  14. Even though it basically rules out any decent football for Everton, I think having Coady and Tarkowski at least allows them to defend properly. They don't have the players to attempt to play football this year, so it looks as though they have gone for the defensive options. It's grim but I can see the logic.
  15. Yeah I find it strange. I can only think that it's a good will thing because he's a long time servant who wants to play football in Liverpool at the end of his career. He will be a major loss to them, on and off the pitch. I'd have had Coady over Lascelles
  16. I can't even laugh anymore. It's actually quite shocking to see how owners in this country can chip away at the institutions that we hold so dear. Its like watching Mike Ashley on steroids. It's clear now that SAF was holding the club together in the first years of the glazers. To see Man United in such a mess doesn't bring satisfaction because if truth be told, I'd rather they were winning the league than a Chelsea. They aren't even just average owners, they are terrible owners. When Brighton and Brentford have clear plans in place but Man United don't, there's something seriously amiss. There's a million names who wouldn't have cost a fortune, that Man United could have turned to in this window. Boubakar Kamara for example. Its an absolute shitshow and I'm sympathetic to any fan going through it because we were there a year ago. It doesn't matter if you are Man U or Carlisle, you just want to see a plan, a vision, something to get behind.
  17. I think we might look at a CM, but it will be late, late into the window and it will be a loan....unless of course we sign Maddison. Remember Howe has played Miggy as AM in pre season too.
  18. Yeah, I think Brighton are one of the few dangerous sides in this league. We need our midfield trio to get a hold of the ball, like they normally do. Brighton will leave more gaps than Forest did but will also be better than them in every department.
  19. Wonder if we will have an eye on a CM on loan.
  20. I think we are incredibly lucky that the World Cup will save him missing quite a few extra games. It's a blow but we can cope.
  21. I've never met a Beth who's so much a Brian or a Dave.
  22. Nephew it is, not brother. Same point.
  23. Eddie Howes nephew is one of our scouts IIRC.
  24. Check out JLAs latest on him. His heat map on Saturday for a number 6 was amazing.

It's not an exact science though. West Ham and Wolves aren't goal laden sides, in fact they are sides based on a solid defence. We showed last season that the likes of Krafth, Fraser, Wood, Lascelles can dip into the side and we can get results. Admittedly we wouldn't want it for very long. If we have 4/5 players injured then we will suffer but that would go for West Ham etc too.
