Yeah, Imagine the moment when Ashley sat down with Charnley and made it clear that Rafa was a nuisance and that he didnt want his contract renewed. Did Charnley sit there and argue the point to Ashley? Or did he just roll over like a bitch and let Rafa go? It's hard to imagine a person allowing such terrible decisions for the club to happen and feeling sympathy. Hes been there through all of Ashley's tenure too, Keegan, Kinnear, Pardew, the lot. Did little Lee do his bit to steer the club in the right direction or did he comply with his boss and steer himself up the ladder?

So let me get this right, when discussing the merits of Saudi ownership, you arent allowed to mention: Other areas where we already contribute to Saudi wealth (buying petrol for example) The other things we buy such as iPhones, built by other questionable states. Sheffield United (because that's COMPLETELY different) Other premiership owners because although they are undoubtedly bad people, they arent states, therefore its completely irrelevant. Amnesty have earned the right to talk about this stuff. That's the difference. This isnt some loudmouth southern journalist looking for a cheap storyline. When you see someone who has dedicated their whole life to this sort of thing, fair enough.

What makes you say this? Because the so called bigger clubs have much more sway with the media. We are an easy target in comparison. The criticism of the Saudi's would still be there but the defence of those clubs would be much bigger.

I get the feeling the Charnley is good at charming people. Rafa said he got on with him well in the early days. I could see him keeping a role for a little while but his decision making days are over. He might have some use as a club secretary, as he will have an intimate knowledge on the running of the club. Doesnt really matter what happens with him post takeover. He will be persona non grata.

I'm fine with the Saudi trashing. Just not the trashing of our club. Theres no way there would be this furore had they been buying Man Utd or Liverpool. The nationals would have jumped to their defence much quicker.

I have nothing but respect for those with so much principle that even if it means their own football club becoming an elite team, they still wont budge on the way they feel. It takes a strong moral compass to think that way. I'm just not wired the same. I dont disagree with many peoples views on the Saudi government, I just dont feel I have enough time on this earth to care (to this degree). I hope any crusade against human rights violations is fruitful and I wish anyone on here every success.
