  1. Replaced by the man who took Helmond Sport to 7th in the Dutch 2nd division..................
  2. I'd be surprised if that was the end of the bloodletting.
  3. You may well be right, the Mail article mentioned Villa and Pompey. But it was a Mail article so anything there could be taken with a large pinch of salt.
  4. If it's how the Admin would like it to be, I've no complaints and I can't see any reason why it won't work. I'm a Spurs fan who likes it here, but equally I readily accept that this isn't my club's forum.

    The Wage Bill

there was a thread where someone brought up spurs spending in recent seasons but i could never find it again, i was going to ask the spurs resident ITK's how the club can continue spending at such a sustained rate? they balance out to some degree i'm aware but very recently the balancing out part seems to have been forgotten? genuine question like, not a piss take The money's put together in an assortment of ways. Keeping a firm lid on the salary structure ensures not too much money is leaked that way. In past years, there's been no overdraft, there is now. Compared to most clubs it's still small but it's there now and I don't expect it to be cleared off soon. Ramos has convinced Levy that he'll have to pay for a challenge on the top 4 and Levy thinks the club is sound enough to go for it. Season tickets continues to go through the roof, another 10% increase this time around, and that is from a high starting level as well. Spurs also had rights issues on their shares, underwritten by Enic. The majority weren't taken up so Enic took them up at what is now a bargain price. Basically, a means enabling Joe Lewis/Daniel Levy to put more money in and getting the benefit of actually reducing their overall cost per share. There were major rows about it at board level and the Finance Director left over it. That enabled Enic to set up long term loans (which are only just being drawn upon) at pretty good rates for the new Academy and have money left over to put towards the new stadium. I'm not an Accountant and don't really understand how the benefits work, but I'm told they are significant. Finally, Levy always has loads of ifs and buts in transfer contracts, some of the transfer fees mentioned in the media never materialise simply because the trigger to spark another payment never happens. Also, in the past 4 years or so, almost every player bought was subsequently sold at a profit. Bent, Boateng and Kaboul may buck the trend when they go, but Jol wanted them and ultimately they were part of the reason why he went. I'll assume that the above is correct, but to keep spending the way Spurs have been over the past 2 years or so they will need CL football very soon to start covering costs I heard that it was sustainable without CL for 2 years, probably 3. By that time there should be a new stadium with more corporate boxes and jacked up ST prices to go with it. The probability is that we'll be under new ownership long before that in any case. Where will you build said stadium? The general consensus is adjacent to WHL on the site of the trading estate with a capacity of 50k with room to expand further. Official announcement expected around September time. Not much good for the general football fan, most of the extra seats will be corporate boxes by all accounts. But that's where the money is ................. Edit: That would mean staying at WHL while it was built.
  7. The Mail says Dunne on the brink of moving to Spurs ahead of Villa and Portsmouth http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/sport/football/article-1022723/Dunnes-5m-switch-Tottenham-kick-starts-summer-exodus-Eastlands.html?ITO=1490
  8. John Bostock's signing for Spurs as certain as it can be without the offical statement. Turned down Chelsea and Barcelona............ http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/tn/Sport.cfm?id=7949

  12. Coloccini's agent in London next Monday to talk to 2 interested clubs. Goons are one, don't know the other.
  13. Hugo Lloris signs for Lyon. Another GK that can be crossed off the wishlist.
  14. I'm sure if Arsenal were interested he'd get one based on being an 'exceptional prospect' they`d just send them to their feeder club in Belgium for a few years until they qualify for a visa or Belgian passport as they did the likes of Eboue . I know what you mean though The agreement with Beveren was scrapped a couple of years ago, around the same time as there were investigations going on into the arrangement.
  15. Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be on the verge of signing Diego Capel from Sevilla after agreeing terms with the player and meeting his buy-out clause. The North London club are poised to confirm a deal to bring the left-sided starlet to White Hart Lane having met the 15million euros (£12m) asking price, according to Diario de Sevilla. A deal may have been wrapped up by now had Tottenham not requested that the two clubs split the resulting tax bill, which totals almost 2.5m euros. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11675_3623888,00.html KD works for Sky?? Dos Santos looks more likely to move to Italy than to WHL.
  16. Widely reported that Chelsea made a late attempt to sign Bostock.
  17. I'd agree with that. He was one that Wenger was happy to let go and that says everything about him imo. Yeah, just like Bentley. IIRC, Wenger wanted Bentley to sign a new contract, Bentley wanted guaranteed playing time that Wenger couldn't provide so he was sold. Larsson was sold irrespective of the fact that he wanted to have a new contract.
  18. I'd agree with that. He was one that Wenger was happy to let go and that says everything about him imo.
  19. I think you'll be struggling to find many that fall into the "others" category.
  20. Wigan ready to bid £3.5m for N'Zogbia according to today's Mirror ...........................
  21. Only repeating what's been said elsewhere.
  22. Dos Santos is a lefty isn't he? Left footed but plays on the right for Barca. Even when Messi was injured, Henry was prefered on the left than him. MJ what the point in the Dos Santos signing if we're looking to get Bentley in too?. Smacks of us neglecting the positions that actually need strengthning yet again.. They're on the list of options, along with others, now it's a case of waiting to find out who gets picked and who gets dumped. Exactly the same with GK's, strikers, holding MF's andCD's tbh, I think most of the options have been mentioned at some time or other but the order of preference remains a secret.
  23. A medical for an unnamed player has been booked on Friday at the private clinic Spurs use. It wouldn't be the first time though that a medical was booked and no one turned up.
  24. Signing Bentley would mean the end of Lennon tbh.
