Although I'm for standing in general, I think there might be some merit to the increased diversity of supporters because football is now seen less as a white working class man's game. Saying that, I'm not sure whether it's because hooliganism has been completely eliminated or whether that's due to seats just being seen as safe for women and children. I'd guess that it's more the elimination of terrace and supporter violence, but it's so intrinsically linked to standing areas because of hillsborough and heysel. It'll take time for standing areas to be seen as safe again, probably when the generation of authorities that were there or who arrived right after hillsborough retires.

Yep. I'm with you here. I think he's shit. His previous experience supports this view. I don't like what he says, and I think he's just reaping the benefit of Hughton's work. We'll only really know how shit he is in a year or two when he's had a chance to change our style of play. This is still Hughton's team, and it's still a decent team - a great one, actually, because we're a newly promoted team.

Torres hasn't really declined. He's in a new team, so hes looking for space and timing. You can see that he's not quite comfortable making some runs and he's often running into a teammate. It's part of the process of fitting in to a new team. Carroll is going through it as well, but without the pressure that torres is under. I see torres being on the fringe of the game, but he's not a long way away. His last two performances have been much better and you can see that he's slowly finding his place. He'll hit form soon and he'll get 25 next season without breaking sweat.

The Thai Premier League has improved so much over the last couple of years. It's unbelievable, really. It's a shame that there are still a lot of weekday games and the season doesn't take advantage of good weather during Dec - Jan. I'll get a season ticket when I can find someone to go with me.
