Spurs make a profit (or a small loss), though. We were losing money year-in year-out while spending more and more. No one is arguing against the concept of investing in the squad, but it has to be balanced by the revenue side as well. It wasn't during Shepherd's reign. In fact, it was getting progressively worse. It's a shame that Ashley has focused on cost-cutting instead of revenue-raising but even so, we're undoubtedly on a much surer financial footing. If we can raise revenue now, it'll go straight to the bottom-line which will enable us to invest in the squad like we used to, only this time not having to worry about losing money every year.

And what about the WC? Most of the top players played at the WC.

What are the testing procedures for the CL? I'm pretty sure it'll be stricter than it is in La Liga.

But you do get shite like Malaga and Almeria.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
Taylor Swift replied to Pilko's topic in Football
Gerrard's way past his best. Carroll's a better player than him. Suarez is better than Carroll because he offers more. I think Carroll will struggle to fit into the team and their style of play. They'll have to get decent service from him, which means a couple of new wingers. I just don't think that Carroll's mobile enough (yet) to play at the very top level. You could see how slow he was in receiving the ball and laying it off on Saturday, and those basic things aren't really affected by a lack of fitness. It's just a basic technical thing that Carroll's not good enough at (yet). I will give Carroll a lot of credit for how much he's improved in the past year, so he's shown that he can develop skills which he never had. I suppose that's what Liverpool is hoping will continue. -
That story doesn't go with the quotes that have come out from the regime after everything calmed down and we won a few games. Llambias has pretty much admitted so.

Van gaal is a great manager. Shame he's shit with actually the players, and in this day and age, like fergie said, the players expect to be coddled.

Co Durham, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland all in "Top 10 Football Hotbed"
Taylor Swift replied to Stu's topic in Football
And 8 year olds, man. There are far too many factors that affect whether an 8 year old will eventually become a professional footballer that it's a massive waste of time trying to develop them. If we're treating 13 and 14 year olds with indifference and not providing them with the proper coaching and adequate facilities then you'll have something to say. An 8 year old kid is ten fucking years away from being close to first-team football. Too many things can happen in that time, like him not developing physically. At least at 13 and 14, you have some idea of whether he'll be able to handle it physically, then you can develop him technically. -

Do Arsenal have the academy of choice in their area? I don't think you could ever know because most of their youngsters have actually been 'bought' in the same way that Kadar, Ranger and Krul have been. Look at Man Utd with the twin Brazilian full-backs. It's the same thing. If you can do it, you do it. Developing 'true' local lads is another part of it, but if you're able to buy really young players and develop them into first team players then your academy would still be considered a massively successful one. -

8 years old, ffs. We've had Ranger, Carroll, Ferguson, Krul, Forster and Kadar come through the set up in the past couple of years. That's a pretty good haul so far. -
Get in! 3-3.

That's not a foul. Spurs have been very lucky today.

Banning snoods FIFA really have fuck all to do outside a World Cup year.

Three straight forward passes from Jenas. He's on drugs.

If Chelsea win their two in hand and beat Man Utd away, they'll only be 3 behind. Maybe they still have a shot.

Wilshere will get YPofY, and deservedly imo.

3-2, Spurs. Pav. Quality hit.

I wish Modric signed for us back then, man. He's such a good player.

Vidic has been Man Utd's best player. Nasri should win it if Arsenal win the title. He's been magnificent this year.

This is the first season in a while where we've not had a player genuinely dominate the league. We might have a relative random win the PofY award this year.
