  1. It's been like that all the way through pre-season. McDog's link works (as long as you have paid). So does pressing the back button and the forward link. It's happened to me, on occasions, when watching the matches, as well.
  2. He, he - from the club's report on the, behind-doors, friendly agains Middlesbrough (i.e. our 'cast offs') -'The tier-three side found a way back into the game late on when Millie Bell headed home from a Grace Boyes cross.' https://www.newcastleunited.com/en/news/newcastle-united-women-1-middlesbrough-women-1

I take it you mean the one on Gateshead Hight Street. It was one of my peak childhood experiences. When we walked past and didn't go in it was a bad day. I could get with the temperence movement if that was all they did.
  4. Group B is: Durham, Liverpool, Sunderland and Sheffield United. Hmmm.
  5. From YouTube, seems to use her size / strength well / easily as a central defender and likes the odd 'Sharr raking cross-field pass'. I suppose now's not the time to mention that spending a whole lot of time shooting at anything but the goal hasn't, yet, been addressed (especially after the one deal that would have gone some of the way fell through). Never mind, we are a club well-known for being on top of forwards.
  6. Posted without comment apart from to say, despite anyone's opinions, Lee supports Newcastle men and women and is usually positive.

  8. You're missing the best 'penalty shoot-out / kick-off / whatever, by the way.
  9. Go back to the page before, try again. Always works second time. Had to do this numerous times during last game. Official site being a shit-show, as usual.
  10. Looks like they played more of their first team in the first half. According to their report, they controlled the game in that half ... but went behind. Second half was more of their second team. Given that they got the goal scorer wrong, I'm not sure if some 'sour grapes' aren't in that report. Nevermind, our report on it will be 'might mag lasses smash Bayern', so they can do what they want. Never-the-less, as someone else said, I expected a loss ... so all good.
  11. Their explanation (for what it's worth) - Why has this been announced so close to the start of the season? We understand the timing of this announcement may feel sudden. However, we’ve been carefully exploring venue options for some time, and Gateshead Stadium has only recently become a confirmed opportunity. As soon as the decision was finalised, we shared the news to ensure our supporters had the information they need to plan for the upcoming season. Our priority is always to keep you informed and involved, and we appreciate your continued support as we take this exciting step forward.
  12. Jess Carter getting racist abuse. Whilst she's made some obvious mistakes in the tournament, which footballer hasn't. As she said, she's ok with criticism but not racism. That and the chanting of our fans in Glasgow reminds me of when I'd go to St. James in the 70s and the NF would be selling their magazines outside. Seems like forever ago the metro had posters with 'black and white together' on the walls. Sigh. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/jess-carter-racist-abuse-england-lionesses-womens-euro-b2792444.html
  13. Carter has made huge mistakes (as she has all tournament). She's a bundle of nerves, and they know it. Trouble with taking her off is I doubt she will play again (at least soon) as it will destroy her confidence. That said, she needs to come off. She probably needed not to start but the last game masked the problem. This is not Wales, though.
  14. Memories of my 70s house (still decorated like it was the 50s because we were so poor ).
  15. Just from YouTube videos, seems to (mostly) play left (i.e. Stokes's position), is left-footed (but can use the right), a decent crosser and takes a lot of decent dead-balls. Well see, but gives us threat from the left. That said, for that to be of any use, we need to solve our problem with scoring from balls into the box . Seems to take the, left-footed, corners from the right as well. Most of the videos are quite old.

  17. Preseason training camp and match against Bayern Munich mentioned here, as well as the league changes explained-
  18. Proving it can be done - https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jun/20/london-city-lionesses-make-statement-signing-of-danielle-van-de-donk-wsl Also, confirmation of the WSL expansion, making it an even more important (off) season.

  20. LCL's capture of Kosovare Asllani is a case in point, though Michele Kang, their owner, has more experience of the international game. I guess we'll have less press releases that say 'Becky Langley has worked with x before'. As for the DOF, it is part of the new league rules to have one but the point stands. They have a lot of space to make changes.
