Woltemade has been really good to start especially surrounded by a fairly lacklustre group in the first half. For a guy who’s not good with his head, that was an absolutely top class headed goal.

Wirtz really has been awful. The only player consistently on the ball and has made the wrong decision time after time.

Apropos of nothing, this match reminds me why I hate matches with just one commentator.

No one should make any kind of judgment on Big Nick based off this match. He has had basically no chance to do anything.

Germany look absolutely shit so far, so I can't really judge Big Nick. Should have done better with his header though. Otherwise largely out of the game because Germany are ponderous with their "attack".

Seems a lovely guy and certainly the comparison with Isak - as others have pointed out - is very telling.

Just interesting to me that when Sky report on Isak signing with Liverpool, they show a picture of him Photoshopped into a Liverpool shirt, but when they show Wissa to us, he's still in his Brentford shirt.

Good post and perspective. Not sure you can justify all of his behavior but his desperation seems a lot more justifiable than Isak's. There are better ways to go about it, though. I hope he can draw a line under it, apologise to Brentford and their supporters, and move on. On the pitch, he is a huge upgrade over Wilson and will more than justify the fee with 10-15 goals.

We have our positives and negatives as a club but we do seem to be able to pull out a sneaky random bit of business here and there. This is a wild one.

I suppose it's all in how you look at it but if you had told me we would get £158.5 million for Isak and Osula combined, I'd have been satisfied.

I'm guessing this is going to be.one of those things where Liverpool sources claim it's £125 million but actually our sources say it's really £130 or more because of waived bonuses and incentives, etc.

Medicals can be and occasionally are booked at outside sites, that alone will not preclude us from doing a deal.

As much as we would all like the pound of flesh that comes along with making Isak stay and apologise, the truth is that the club are going to be pragmatic about it. I have always expected a deal to get done for that reason, it’s simply too much to ask them not to add 100m or so to the PSR equation. Their job is to remove all the emotion and just make a pragmatic decision and the risk of him losing value or getting injured or whatever is too great not to sell. It sucks.

He annoys the shit out of me. He’s not a bad player but as a whole, he is less than the sum of his parts.

You always have to take into account the style and culture of the team he’s signing for. Sesko went to a club in complete disarray, Woltemade is coming into a club with phenomenal leadership, a top class coaching setup, and that plays a style perfect for his strengths. He is tailor-made for our way of playing. I think he’s going to be special.
