  1. I do think it's as simple as getting the new Sporting Director up and running, and establishing the communications process for getting all this sorted. We will have been negotiating or speaking with various agents/clubs, now we have a new transfer leader, got to get him in that mix. I think once that's finished, probably this week given the meetings and schedule, then we'll seemingly be much more active. I'm sure Paul Mitchell will have had his own list of targets he's familiar with, we'll have our own list, those two will have to be combined and sorted - which is why I think almost every rumour out there right now is purely speculative or based on outdated info. And we as a club have a habit of trying to keep the bigger deals under wraps until they're all but done.
  2. You just know a rumour is legit when the post doesn't even have the name spelled correctly.
  3. You never know but I can't see a guy with his drive, determination, and workaholic nature wanting to take a job that would have him merely watching 20-30 weeks out of the year. He seems to thrive on the day to day training, camaraderie, and general activity of a club. I could see him as he gets older wanting to slow down, but I think we're still a long way from that.
  4. We are a bird about ready to fly away from the nest, and to do that, we have to leave the mother bird behind. But we'll never forget what she did for us.

    Copa America

That was a WWE match. Vegas Street Fight. Nasty stuff. Horrible ref. Glad Bruno didn't get hurt. No quality to speak of from either team. Some dogshit penalties from Brazil. Come home, Bruno, we love you no matter what.

    Paul Mitchell

This has really helped to calm my nerves after that seemingly chaotic final week of June. I have no idea how much of that was legitimate and how much was just press freak-outs. Doesn't really matter to me at this stage. Signing Paul Mitchell is a real statement of intent, to me on par with signing Kieran Trippier in that first January window when we were still very much in danger. It showed the power of our project and the attractiveness of the club and gave us a level of seriousness that was essential. This is the same thing. We're coming off a disappointing season, no Europe, PSR issues, etc etc and yet we've managed to attract one of the biggest names in football recruitment circles. It gives us an enormous boost and shows potential players how serious we still are about all of this.
  7. Well we just about managed to get the credit card paid off...time to max out a different one
  8. Wish him all the best in the world. Hope he kicks on and gets even better. Never quite did it for us at the level we'd hoped but always gave a good showing. There's a good player in there.
  9. Blink twice if you're OK, Odysseas
  10. Cannot wait for the documentary on PSR in a year or two. This is some mind-boggling stuff. If Anderson is worth 35m, Isak is worth 500m easy.
  11. Ah. That makes (slightly more) sense. If we're paying north of 5 million for him, the PSR police will be on the case...
  12. Am I reading that Romano tweet correctly? Is he claiming Forest are paying 35m for Anderson? That's insane.

    Alexander Isak

As I understand it, they've made an enquiry. "Hi there, guys, could we buy Isak?" "Fuck off." "Right then "
  14. Would love to see a buyback clause here. Much rather him go to Lyon than anywhere domestic. Perhaps this will work out better than it appeared just a few days ago...
  15. yes it was one out of three ain't bad
  16. FWIW he just made a phenomenal save to keep Georgia in this match. Has looked the part of a high level keeper tonight.
  17. To me, one of the most enjoyable things as a supporter is to see exciting young players who could be anything breaking through and making their name with us. It's not happened often enough for a very long time. It would feel cruel to snatch that away.
  18. Selling a player of his potential without even assessing him properly in our setup would be asinine. Unless we were to sell him to a mid to lower level PL club with a buy-back clause, basically a deluxe loan of sorts to ensure he plays. That would be fine by me. But a sale to a Liverpool or a higher-level club without a clause would be a repudiation of our stated goal of developing young talent. And would be a prime example of how the rules are set up to favor the historically wealthy clubs now and forever.
  19. All I know is that if @Jack27 starts a thread, the player ends up at Chelsea
  20. I thought both sets of semis were officiated really well but this clown is on the verge of fucking everything up
  21. Dortmund look so good, phenomenal movement and great passing through the lines. Should be up at least 1. Doing their fans proud. Madrid look a pale shadow of their best, which of course means they'll score a jammy goal in the 89th minute to win.

    Tosin Adarabioyo

And as far as FFP is concerned, let's say Chelsea are offering 60k more per week than we are, that's the equivalent of an extra £16 million of transfer fee on a player we would sign to a 5 year deal. That's not nothing and not only would it blow up our wage structure, it would negate a lot of the perceived advantages of a free transfer.

Players have a short window to earn as much as possible. Chelsea apparently offered much more than we could, he doesn't have to move, they have European football, it would have been staggering had he chosen us over them. All of us would likely have done similar in our respective careers, if we're honest. Doesn't make it any less annoying but it's perfectly logical. He's a businessman, not a cunt. Now we have to work that extra bit harder to make things work this summer.
