Amazing. 14 years to the day since that 4-4 innit? -
Not only that. You cannot amortise the fee over the length of a multi year contract, so indeed the wages and loan fee are a 100% hit for that PSR year.
-
The game is rigged to stop our owners using their vast wealth to turbocharge our development the way Chelsea, PSG and City have been, but not to stop us making progress the way any football owner with their head screwed on can. When we were held back by that cunt Ashley I never wanted NUFC to be owned by the wealthiest owner and demolish the competition by vastly outspending them. All I ever wanted was an ambitious owner that acts in the best interest of the club and moves it forward. We have that and then some. As for your individual players, I agree Isak is pretty much irreplaceable, and we have some other very good other players I’d be sad to see leave, but the way I see it is that we’re clearly able to spot a talent, so for every player we sell for a good fee we’d be able to get a replacement and strengthen another position, allowing the club to not go stale and move forward in overall quality. Sadly we cannot do that by holding on to our “purples” until their contracts expire or they start to decline, so needs must.
-
Which frankly is not the end of the world as far as I am concerned. Ultimately I want these owners to develop the club as an institution that can stand on its own two feet, rather than one that might go under once they lose interest and stop investing or decide to sell up. I want the club to excel in scouting, youth academy, player development, having a clear identity/playing style, etc. as opposed to ending up as PSG Mk II.

It does yes. If the Spanish billionaire wanted to be our shirt sponsor and pay double the amount Real Madrid get that would also be fine. The check on “fairness” of the amount only relates to associated parties that cannot pay more* than a non-associated party would be willing to. Hence why it is so crucial that the club develops its commercial appeal so that non-associated parties will want to be associated with us and pay what they currently pay the likes of Man U and Liverpool. * and even then, they can actually pay what they want I believe, but anything above “fair value” wouldn’t count as revenue for PSR.
-
Why wouldn’t they?
-
I understand people’s frustrations to an extent, but surely criticising the owners of a football club for not breaking the rules is a little backward? This is all on the PL and the “big six”, not on us. Still, we’ll beat them at their own game eventually.

Hang on, Villa got Asensio too..?

Massive difference between not being happy and being pissed, wouldn’t you say?

I think Eddie wants them extended and I doubt we have the money to replace them on top of everything else we need (RW, already another RCB).
-
Don’t think Eddie will be too disappointed really. Think he said the primary thing was keeping the important core of players, which we have done. We’ve also peddled some fringe players, hopefully allowing for some room to spend in the summer. Next priority will be to sign extensions for Schar, Krafth and maybe Dubs, and then prepare for a bit of a creative squad overhaul in the summer.

Haven’t been online since the final whistle yesterday, but this is an astonishing piece of business by the club
