I actually like Barnes and I’m happy he’s here, but nobody can convince me that spending the best part of 100m on two left wingers was the best possible use of funds in our (PSR) situation at that time. Mistakes were made sadly, and arguably Amanda paid the price.

Probably aye. We could have avoided having to sell from a position of weakness by not overspending that season however. Harvey Barnes as a squad option behind Gordon in particular looks like an expensive luxury we maybe couldn’t afford in hindsight.

People need to take notice of this. This "big six" nonsense is not a static thing. Man U and Spurs being out of CL again, and potentially Chelsea too, will start hurting their commercial and matchday revenue eventually, whereas (should we make it 2/3 years for CL qualification) our commercial profile continues to rise. The likes of Villa and Forest taking "their" places at the main table off them is a great development (as long as we manage to qualify too).
