Well it depends doesn't it? We don't know what Pardew was or wasn't told about how legitimate a target Bent was. You've just made that bit up. We also don't know what else was happening at the same time (looking at Gomis, Remy, possibly others for example... waiting to see what happened with Cisse) so we can't really say whether the time was wasted or not. The season starts in less than a fortnight and we haven't brought anyone in. I'd say it's safe to assume we've waisted time like, unless your contention is getting people in isn't massively important?

Some good points there, didn't realise he was 29. 2 million for a player they no longer want and barely played for a season. He's 29, not 41 FFS. He's got a good few years left in the tank at this level. Also, he has a pretty impressive goalscoring record throughout the years, and most recently moved for a massive 24 million. They were never ever going to accept 2 million, therefore it's pretty much the definition of a pisstake that we even wasted their and our time suggesting it to them (whether we actually bid or not). Because Arry is talking out of his arse as per usual. I wouldn't be so sure. It was always wishful thinking he would join us on loan, with them paying a part (probably the majority knowing how we take the p*ss in negotiations) of his wages. So, why haven't they rejected it? The offer was very well publicised, so I imagine their response would be too. Why would they reject it? Do they automatically have to accept our offer if it goes unanswered for a certain amount of time or something? If you receive a pisstake offer for one of your best players, I personally wouldn't even bother dignifying it with a reaction tbh.
