What exactly are Tonali's main strengths in your opinion? It's early days with us so I've faith that he'll come good; but he's not looked comfortable at any point since his very promising debut. He doesn't make an impact in possession and is routinely caught flat-footed off the ball. That run he made to the byline in the first few minutes last night is the first positive thing we've seen him do since the first week of the season.

I'm relieved we've got until Sunday for this, like. Pretty crucial that we get a positive result here cos there's absolutely zero chance we progress in the League Cup, considering what team we'll be forced to field against Man City. Could do without going into Burnley (h) without mounting pressure and a bad feeling. I wouldn't take a draw if you offered it, but it probably wouldn't be the worst result in the world. In literally every other season since the beginning of football they'd have just won at Spurs, so they're obviously not mugs.

Got a spring in me step today, like. That was such a good occasion and feel very proud of the lads for the result and for the doggedness of the performance. While we didn't threaten them as much as we would've liked, we clearly still tried to play aggressively and I don't think we were overawed by the occasion by any stretch. On the contrary, we faced a couple of onslaughts where the pitch seemed be on a slant towards our goal, but we didn't lose any defensive composure and clung onto a situation where even winning the game stayed a possibility. Absolutely loads to build on from this in terms of how we perform in this competition.

The fact that that's weapons-grade horseshit is the main issue. It wasn't even close to 'really poor'. Disjointed and ineffective going forward I'll give you but there was plenty to like about the performance. We were incredibly dogged, kept our emotions and mentality in check, strong at the back (with some good fortune) and had spells where we were in total control of the match. We also had a knack of winning possession back quickly after losing it and were very effective at buying time, either through winning fouls or just keeping possession - not a bad tactic at the San Siro. That's before we get onto the various brilliant individual performances. There are some tactical issues atm, I would totally agree with that. But criticism to that degree is just plain wrong. We wouldn't have got out of there with a point if we were really poor/awful/whatever.

For a competition winning local lad in the side just for the sake of it, BDB put in a magnificent shift in that second half. Won basically everything that came at him.

I'm gonna say it. That performance was even better than Bernard's v Inter.
-
It was an incredibly gutsy performance in a physically and mentally demanding game. It's a shame we didn't test them until the 95th minute but fuck it, we more than earned a point.
-
Oh shut up.
-
Fantastic, lads. Well fucking done.
-
Come on lads just get through it

Why on earth is isak still on the pitch

Looking absolutely knackered now.

Ice pack on Tonali's left ankle.
-
Aye that side is very vulnerable now.
-
Hmm. Bit of an inevitability about this now.
-
Tonali goes off. Was absolutely crap like. Lot of work to do with him.
-
Frustrating to watch atm cos they're not offering anything but we're making life easy for them as well. Poor game.
-
Eddie going for it.

Trippier has an incredible knack of combining a tackle with a great pass.

I think we've looked very measured and controlled and not remotely overcome with nerves or anything like that. They're just very dangerous on the break and are exploiting our annoyingly flat-footed midfield out of possession. Fully believe we can get something out of this.
-
Think I'll give the thread a miss until we're battering AC Milan at the San Siro.
-
Well, that was something. Wouldn't have any complaints if we were behind but we've otherwise held our own, as we should.

Midfield is absolutely absent out of possession like. Just like Brighton really.

Hanging on for dear life here.
