  1. Might be that American coach, now that would be interersting.
  2. Draft Picks work in closed leagues (US Franchise leagues) not open ones with promotion/relegation. Because they assume that only teams in the league draft (32 NFL teams drafting or 20 PL teams) but they don't have the concept of a 92 team league spread across 4 or 5 different levels. They also work because the teams drafting the players does not have any interaction in the young player development area. No school boy or youth teams associated to the big clubs. Players come from High School or College teams (NFL,NBA, MLB) or from Junior Hockey (NHL) and they cannot be drafted to a Major League team until they pass a certain age. No schoolboy contracts or academy contracts allowed. I love it in US sports, but it'd only really work in US as they have the history and set up to pull it off. The 'sports' in the US are all strange tbf.
  3. parky vs john henry and how liverpool are doomed? Ideally a new manager to lay down fire on. Not really much idea who this John Henry is. Might be powerful voodoo.
  4. This takeover won't work. He has little money and no clue about Liv and the delusions that linger there. Might need a new thread to counter the new magic if it arrives.
  5. Didn't expect them to say we're coming to bum rape you.
  6. It will be the end of them probably.
  7. Just noticed Roy has spent 10m on 3 30yr olds.
  8. Any major injury to Gerrad and Woy is bonned. I see where you're coming from but the point isn't as powerful as it was a couple of seasons ago. Gerrard is on the way downhill and can't carry the team as he once did. Torres hasn't looked interested thus far this season as well. All in all, delightful. Torres really looks like he's had enough. Packing up his olives and paella kit as we speak.
  9. RAWK: Quote from: WaltonRed on Today at 10:45:48 AM I'm not impressed one bit. Looks like a case of out the frying pan into the fire to me. The view around the office where I work (a large investment bank) is that he doenst have the equity needed to help us to compete and that he will struggle to borrow the money needed to build the stadium. I have very very vibes about this. My guess is that Broughton and BarCap had expected to receive much more substantial bids from more substantial figures who are able to build the stadium and fulfil the other criteria set out back in May (or whenever it was). That hasnt materialized and worried about Hicks possibly refinancing they are jumping into the bed with the first person who has £300M cash, and ignoring the fact that he cannot invest in the squad, cannot build the new stadium and cannot take the club forward. I think its a panic move which we will live to regret bitterly. NOTE: I am NOT saying he is the same as G&H as I DONT think he is buying us with borrowed money that he will put against the club. He is not evil like G&H. My concern is that he simply doesnt have big or deep enough pockets to be able to help us compete with the big boys. With him in charge we wont hurtle towards relegation as we are currently doing but we will end up becoming a mid table team with no hope of a new stadium and no hope of building a squad to match that of our rivals. Its a buy that will improve what we have but will leave us a long way from where we could be - or woudl have been had we sold to DIC in 2007. The common consensus in 2007 was that Liverpool needed to sell to rich owners because it was the only way of building a new stadium (we arent Arsenal with the ability to sell hundreds of flat at £1M a pop) and keeping in touch with the bigger clubs. As we know we did the opposite and ended up owing hundreds of millions. This sale will "merely" take us back to where we were in 2007. We will still not have a stadium (and no promise of one), we will still be miles behind our rivals and we will still need to be incredibly lucky in the transfer market / home grown arena to compete. Now compared to G&H thats luxury but I think its worth stopping and considering what this means: in my opinion this will make us a Top 10 club but not a Top 4 club. Now thats better than where G&H are taking us but IF we want to be more than that these are NOT the right owners. Plus, FWIW, our legal team reckon that G&H have got a very arguable case that he doesnt fit the requirements we publicly set out in May that ht new owner had to be able to fund a new stadium and invest in the squad. They reckon that we will win on not being able to replace Purlsow and Ayres but might lose on the fact that this sale does not benefit Liverpool Football Club according to our own previously stated requirements.
  10. Hodgson. I give him a month max.
  11. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/oct/06/liverpool-fc-sale-tom-hicks You couldn't make it up. Tbf I think 'the club' actually make a profit.
  12. H&G are talking about going to court over the offer aren't they?
  13. Ditched Aquilani iirc Yup. And it was only fair to give him a start.
  14. It must grate that one of the 'media darlings' is going tits up.
  15. Pretty sure the owners have to agree unless the banks take the club into ownership/administration.
  16. god bless 'em. Fuck me they are an evil pair.
  17. Shit just got real. A lot of Liverpool fans are saying this is the 'end game' which they might be right, its possibly the beginning of the end of H&G, but the end could last several months depending on how much pressure the bank applies, and like I said I doubt the bank really wants to get involved any more in to this mess especially when it goes legal, which it will. Depending on the strategies which are used to try and remove H&G we could also see Liverpool docked points, surely that has to happen if the bank calls time and repossess the club. Has to be 9 points. We'll see.
  18. Don't think there is a hope in hell of anything changing on the pitch tbf. The players look totally lost and lacking in ideas and confidence.
  19. Walking away with no profit, i doubt either will do it. They'd rather let the club sink. They really, really don't want to walk away with no profit, but they sure as fuck wouldn't let the club sink, because the selling price has to cover their debts, otherwise it will cost them (and they're not doing well financially). It would be fucked up if they owned the club, but the strings are currently being pulled by the bank with whose money they bought the club. The only reason the Yanks are still in the picture is that the bank really, really doesn't want to own a football club. Of course, no-one is likely to buy the club before deadline day, because the Yanks are after a profit, and are asking far more for the club than the bank will be in a couple of weeks. IMO, our main hope is that the FA/EPL see the case differently to the Southampton one. The key difference is that LFC is solvent and profitable as an entity (separate from the holding company, which holds massive debts from buying the club), whereas Southampton + holding were one big sack of red numbers. Beyond that, the hope is that on-the-pitch form will pick up once all the corporate-level crap is sorted out. Of course it's all up in the air regarding our future owners. The bank will not be choosy. We could end up with even bigger cunts. How long as Hodg got? I want to declare an early victory for Parky Enterprises.

    De Jong

If De Jong's entire family isn't slain it's obviously some sort of conspiracy. To be serious I'd bet it was talked about beforehand that Bafra needed to be hit hard early.
