Shepherd didn't lose a personal fortune AND get the club relegated. Compared to Ashley, Shepherd is a financial genius, which isn't saying much btw. Ashley had plenty of chances to step back from the brink but he failed to invest a few million at the right time to avoid disaster. This isn't an endorsement of Shepherd, more of an indictment of Ashley's monumental cock ups and there's a long list of them I haven't even mentioned here. shepherds net worth is nowhere near ashleys...both started off with nowt. I am talking about this from the perspective of Newcastle United as a football club. So someone who cornered themselves into a position where they had exhausted all available lines of credit and were forced into realising future cash flows immediately at a much discounted price...over someone who lost their OWN money plugging the holes created by said person. Don't really think you can call shepherd a financial genius (in relation to Ashley), he had no idea of the world outside of NE1, Ashley has a poor footballing knowledge but at least got us onto a more stable footing. Deary fucking me Aye, it looks and feels like we're on a more stable footing at the moment. Twat. Staggering idiocy.

Will be interesting to see if any of these two 100m bids materialise in the sale of the club.

Think the offer will be 60m.

that could have been written 2 or 3 years ago yes that relegation 2 or 3 years ago was just awful wasn't it? can't see how our current situation resembles us 3 years ago at all, to be perfectly honest. we weren't so very far away....werent you there ? Shepherd never had much going for him but I doubt he would have dithered and fiddled all season putting his faith in blind hope that we would stay up. Ashley's lack of decisive action when it was needed cost us millions. There really is no comparison. the point sonme (including me) have tried to make is that the position he had got us in....he really couldn't have "borrowed" to get us out.. we were hocked up to the limit and still needing to borrow to survive......eventually you aren't allowed to keep on doing it. I'm well aware of all that, I was one of his biggest critics, but at the end of the day I'm also just a fan. If Ashley stays he'll run the club down and try to scrape back as much of his dough as he can. Shepherd will at least try and win promotion next season. Incidentally if Ashley wasn't such a spineless blimp he could have set his flabby jaw and invested in his club next season in an effort to get us back up. If he chooses to cut his losses and run we really are better off without him. It's a devil and deep blue sea scenario.

Some sanity at last. We need to get going and get some direction asap.

They're unlikely to have more than £60-70m between themselves to purchase the club so they'd have to fund the club through debt again. Nobody knows what funding he has.

They were playing golf together a few weeks ago.

I'd like to see a AS and KK dream team. Mawhaaa ha aha ahhh ha ha...

Why would Shepherd be bothered about the reaction? He's about to buy 100 percent of what he sold a fraction of a while back for not really a great deal more money.I'd imagine the pound signs in his eyes are the most important thing to him right now. Rich, self serving people don't give a scooby what us common proles think. Proles don't either. Who knew?!

As opposed to the other choice who has been trying to get out since day one.
-
If fatty has the energy to give it another go, we should support his bravado. It would have been far easier to walk away into the golf sunset.
-
Agreed. AS will bring some balance to the force.
-
Would only be fair Davide.

£60 million sounds about right. Ashley has been burning money like he just don't care, the fucking idiot. Complete train wreck of a man. Get the fuclk out of the club.
-
As long as he works with AS, it will be better than the current nightmare.

This 100m has always been a joke.
