''...social loafing''..

Never a truer word spoken. Expect him to be away in Jan I reckon, if BS is still here. For the record, he's been a different keeper since his injury SA must be able to see these things if we can.

They certainly are on the forums: Given = shit, past it, cant save from distance, cant command area, also main troublemaker and genrally a mood cunt. Harper = shit, unambitious, lazy, touches his arse before every goal kick... Rozehnal = shit, weak, caught out too much Taylor = shit, stupid, slow, wannabe hero, can't play on the right.. Enrique = spanish flop, shit against Liverpool, Geremi = shit, cant do anything, as bad as Faye (Amady) runs on his heels often backwards, terminally shit at freekicks, corners and has a Columbo complex.. Milner = shit, cant cross, slower than my nan, beats a man too many times, misses sitters Barton = shit, cant pass, gives it away, a danger to himself and others around him, nicks change out of the players coats in the changing rooms Butt = shit, past it, can't pass it, still in love with Fergie, chips the ball almost anywhere.. Owen = crock, shit, selfish, loves himself, helicopter, horses, mummies boy.. Smith = shit, only knows how to get booked, cant score, awful midfielder, new haricut is awful, borderline gay... Martins = shit, cant control, thick, runs anywhere, sulks, moans continually, dwarf, Viduka = shit, fat, lazy, crock, stands totally still till he gets the ball...tries to beat 7 players rather than pass, no pace, no movement, earns way too much.. Ameobi = shit, cant do anything at all, controls the ball harder than he shoots, always smiling at god knows what... Probably a summary of comments you will find from some/the majority (for certain players). FYP.

Developing local football should be a source of pride for any community. Or allowing it to flourish naturally. ...probably better as from what I'm aware coaching in England is on the whole shit. Based too much around formations and fitness.

Baffling, what asking a player to play a few yards away from where he usually plays? If Big Sam wants his head checked for playing Martins wide right, Martins wants f****** shot too for not being able to even do the basics. A bit of grass is a bit of grass, whether you're out wide or up front you should still be able to pass, control, dribble, cross etc. Don't get me wrong, he's not making things any easier for the players but isn't it also his job to challenge them, to get them to do things they can't do or aren't used to? To improve them? Milner has had no problems playing in a different position so I don't see why Martins shouldn't be able to adjust. In fact I don't want players at my club who can't, players who struggle badly when you ask them to do something different. f*** them. The point is that Managers have never asked the likes of Shearer, Owen, Rooney etc to play wide right, so why is Sam doing it with Oba and why are people surprised he looks out of place. Dont you think this Owen would be pissed off if he was put out there? One journalist wrote that the players getting off the coach at Wigan looked beat before they even entered the stadium. That speaks volumes. Get the square pegs in the square holes and stop f****** about. A predominantly left footed forward (not winger) should technically be coming in from the right. SA is totally correct about this. Oba just doesn't know how to do it.

''Men at some time are masters of their fate" Nice bit of shakesphere a little dry for me though This is Sam's Shakespeare moment. 4-3-3 or not 4-3-3: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler on the pitch to suffer The long balls and set pieces of percentage football, Or to pass the ball against a weak defence, And by attacking beat them?

It's something I've become aware of in Germany, like when I watch a French film with Mrs Parky....We've been watching ''Les Amants du Pont Neuf''...I've seen it a fair few times and after a brief discussion with her about it I've come back on here...She says the film is depressing, I say it's poetic. This is more or less what this thread is about. ...and Coach you must admire the Arsenal post-Wenger compared to the Arsenal pre-Wenger...Even the pre-Wenger Arsenal had space for Liam Brady. Good football will nearly always (not always) triumph over containing and negative football. Yes there is always room for sides who don't have the resources to 'compete' with what they have....But that is not OUR destiny.

I agree in principle, but kids are naturally competitive. Divide any group of kids into two and you'll create an 'us vs them' mentality. They should be encouraged to play the game for fun, but they're usually going to want to win whether it be for personal pride or for the sake of the team. They can win their own games like I tried to do when I played singles or doubles, or gates. Take away adults from their game and that competitiveness and desire to win will still be there, only without any kind of pressure meaning no fear of failure, more freedom of expression and a greater love for the game. Not to mention a higher degree of skill and a much more rapid learning curve. Kids go into a game wanting to win, but when they don't it matters because us adults have placed 3 points in their faces and put them under pressure to perform to move up that table. Take away the adults and the 3 points and kids go into a game wanting to win, only after the match the result doesn't matter though. A much healthier environment. A good summary, grass. To play with a natural will to win, but without the massive pressure of 'avoiding defeat any cost'. ....a message lost on SA perhaps?

Even I am starting to worry for him.. I have backed him thus far, but I am starting to think Sam can't change. I hope, for his sake, he takes a look in the mirror, fucks off all this statistics bullshit and plays the way we need to so the opposition will have to nullify us. Sacking, more change is still a bad idea but Sam continues to shoot himself in the foot. I think a lot of people on here backed sam and many still do back him but week by week its getting harder and harder to see him lasting long in the job, why SA insists on playing players out of position and in a formation which doesnt suit our players is very worrying. Well said. I also get the impression that the players do not like him or his methods, and unless that changes quickly, Sam will be in trouble. I'm commited to backing him, but why's he making it so hard? There's something almost Sounessesque about his 'my way or the high way' approach so far. Free your mind, and your ass will follow. It's not really that they don't like him, I think they don't really believe in his methods.

Because when RA decides he knows best which players to play and where to play them, Grant will put up with it, I suspect. He'll be moved back upstairs and I reckon Ten Cate (however you spell it) or Van Basten will be up next. They have a pretty big Dutch contingent already anyway.

Could be the reason Avram Grants initial period in charge has gone better than most people expected Grant will fail as Chelsea manager, he started scratching his head as soon as Villa scored yesterday. A big name man is bound to come in the summer.

Name calling very good. NE5 style posting no good. Sorry, couldn't understand what tosh you were speaking, not that am that arsed, only i do like to reply to people who quote me, even if they are talking gibberish. I think he was trying to say that a team considered half-decent isn't good enough to finish mid-table. Spurs have a half decent squad, Everton have one too, they manage it (Europe) Everton on a shoestring budget nevermind billionaire owner. And how long has Moyes been in charge? How long has Sven been in charge? Look you keep pointing to Man City... first off, we're only half way through the season. The wheels may yet come off. Second, and as I've already pointed out, they are one huge exception. We couldn't have expected to do half as well as they have. Any sensible supporter knew this would be a tough season for both clubs. As it happens Man City have performed well above expection. Doesn't mean we should expect it too. While I'm on... Everton under Moyes: 02/03 – 7th (no Europe) 03/04 – 17th (no Europe) 04/05 – 4th (Champion's league) 05/06 – 11th (no Europe) 06/07 – 6th (UEFA) At what point would he have been sacked as Newcastle manager? . Tbh we can attract a better manager than Moyes (he's average) now that we have new management and a very rich owner

Beautifully laid out Shakky baby. Cheers mate. And don't worry about what Dave said, I'm sure there's someone out there somewhere that's poncier than you. Don't worry I take it as a compliment.

It reminds me of the end of the Souness era, all im waiting for now is SA to be slumped in his chair and not react when we concede a goal. ...it's also like the last scene in Scarface where Tony is sitting behind the big desk with a mountain of coke and his guards are getting killed outside by the Columbians...SA is taking one last big snort and mumbling things about those who have wronged him. This will be the making or breaking of the big man. We can only wait..............

Let us put away the hoofing and the lugging and the water carriers, let us reclaim our souls cheaply given, let us set forth on our true path our true destiny...Football first and foresmost is the cry from the faithful and now the cry has taken shape and no longer are voices alone but together as one. Let us end this long night of scurrying frenetically to strange tactics and exotic formulas borne of cold dead statistics..Let us renew our faith with the one god...Beautiful football, the beautiful game. Dreams win prizes. Enough is enough.

''Men at some time are masters of their fate" Nice bit of shakesphere a little dry for me though This is Sam's Shakespeare moment. Sam should remember the wise words of General Douglas MacArthur: "Never give an order that can't be obeyed." blueyes.gif But... "Honest plain words best pierce the ear of grief"

In the old days you could just put the lazy cunts on the transfer list....Now when they are dropped they just go down the Bentley garage.
