Chelsea need to be careful, they might just try and sit back on the one nil. Actually I think we've played relatively well everything considered. I'd like to see Zogg pushed up and Owen come on and go to 442 and let's have a go at them. Nothing to lose.

Will Given ever come for a corner?

Grant looks like a Vampire.

This one has a tendency to do nothing when we are under pressure Went for a rather difficult volley to clear a ball he could have headed if he tried. Missed. Ball went straight to Chelsea player, unmarked. ...Taylor could have hoofed it but seemed to want a touch for some bizarre reason.
-
Taylor doing ballet rather than standing up and kicking it out.
-
Not one player who knows how to keep the ball...
-
....that was only head height and it nearly went over tiny Shay..lol
-
...we've started reasonably..Surely a complete disaster to follow?

As soon as the international teams of these countries starts doing well the agents get on the blower and try and cash in basically.

the needs and qualities needed to manage outside the prem have little to do with those of managing in the prem, especially if given money to spend. wht i'm trying to say is that the talents and qualities to manage hartlepool are different to those needed to manage newcastle Sure, but just as someone who has EPL management experience has infinitely more qualification than someone who has only managed in the Championship, someone who has a few years experience in the Championship has infinitely more experience than someone who has attended a few silver-service lunches during management training. For me, however, the one saving grace is that both Ashley and Mort are business men first, and football club owners second. They would -NEVER- put an inexperienced person in to a senior management role in their companies and hence are very unlikely to put one in charge of this company. I think the best Shearer can expect from our new owner is a senior advisory role or a senior coaching role, which I also think he is more likely to be interested in. Ashley and Mort are not interested in making NUFC the "Survivor" of the EPL, that is to say do what is popular so you don't get voted out. They want to make our club more like Neighbors, that is a consistent performer that generates good profits year after year after year after year. They will not sack Sam unless one of two things happens, either we really start to look relegation bound, or an absolute superstar manager throws his hat in the ring and says he wants the job. Nice balanced post Montey.
-
They need to run around a lot and look busy for appearances sake.

iirc Sven was quoted 20m Euro's or summat.
-
They've got armed guards in for when the team is announced and he finds out he's not playing.
-
He's moving back to Europe. Wants to get back into football. Was probably considered for the Spurs job. IMO just what we need. A young exciting manager with bags of Euro knowledge and contact list with the ability to attract the right kinds of players. Tactically sound.

Is Jol that good? Really? Rather someone else. No man, I meant why can I not dream that a glamorous, exciting, successful manager could be appointed at Newcastle - rather than Martin Jol! Oh good! IF SA runs out of time I'd go for Klinsi. Turned Germany into an attacking side so basically walking on water would be a comedown.

It's not hard to see things in that way looking in from the outside when a half-time 0-0 scoreline gets greeted with boos is it or a 1-0 win over a lesser club (Fulham) gets greeted with such pessimism? We are critical of outsiders' often wrong impressions of us but we need to look at why they say what they do and think how they do, they can't all be ignorant, jumping on the bandwagon or using stereotypes. I respect Fergie a great deal who considering he's an opposing manager, is quite knowledgeable about our club and although he's clearly wrong in that we do not expect us to win 5-0 every game, I do think his comments ring true in certain contexts. He is dead right too, that the job is becoming an almost impossible job to do. Not at all. Two things need to be in place. A respected manager. ...and the perception that the board are a 100% behind him. We haven't had both criteria in place for a while.
-
Wrong club, wrong time. I meant Hodgson and Fulham, not us and Big Sam. ...although tbf if he can get two or three good players in that he wants to work with they will survive. He'll need 3 years there to make his mark. [irony/]

............ resisting the temptatino to turn that into a "board thing" .......... Been talking to Parky too much.

I thought Chelsea were favourites.
