  1. Certainly, how on earth FS slept at night i do not know. He must be glad as a fan to have sold when he did. If you want to look at a club servicing massive debt look no further than ManU. £20m a year on interest alone last i heard. But Manu can just about afford to live like that. I don't think it will be long until ownership changes hands again, 3-4 years max. If they stutter in Euro it will get very interesting.
  2. Also hints they'll just give the Manager title to Clark short-term as a work around. Grant will then be given study leave and come back fully qualified to be Roman's Chief Puppet from next season onwards. Ironic, considering that they may not make it to the CL next year under the new regime. Tottenham it is then. Would be very happy with that but sounds like Levy won't wait till the end of the season before doing anything. Talk of giving Jol 5 or 6 games seems to be pie in the sky. I wouldn't guarantee him being at WHL at the start of October, let alone at the end of it. Bascially if Jol's confidence isn't blown by all the shannanigans he must be made of steel. Jol's confidence hasn't been dented, he's incredibly resilient. But he is severely pissed off with the board (he can't be blamed for that!) and wants out asap. I think we'll be seeing some very strange team selections if Levy doesn't act sooner than later. Defoe, Huddlestone and Bale not in the squad for Bolton, Lennon on the bench, I hear that Berbatov might be next. I agree, I don't think he will go to Spurs anytime soon and I still feel inclined to think what I said on page 8, it'll be long odds on Mourinho going to Spurs in the summer either. The fact that Comolli was in Spain on Saturday watching Barca v. Sevilla suggests to me that Ramos is still the preferred option. Probably because he'd come cheaper!! Hoddle it is then.

  4. How can the club owe him money? He owns the club outright. doesn't matter,a private individual gave money to a business.he is running it as a business therefore he will want the money back at some point. He'll want a return on his investment I should think but the club doesn't 'owe' him money. He owns the club so it's really a case of him no longer owing the banks the money the club was in debt. I'm not just being pedantic, there's a big difference. The scenario you give could happen if, for example, someone on the board loaned the club money when it was a PLC. In this case the club doesn't owe anyone anything (more or less) any more. Yup.

  6. I fancy a pop on Reading tonight. 25 Sep 19:45 Reading v Liverpool 4.00 3.40 http://www.bet365.com/home/default.asp?lindex=1
  7. TBF, he's at Liverpool and the whole World is against them, apparently. :giggle:
  8. That's the point HTT is making...they have a new side you know. Thier overall football has been a lot better than ours generally etc... No it wasn't my point and no they haven't, only MOTD seems to have packaged them that way. They've played infinitively better than they did under Pearce so asking any City fan and you'll get comparisons with Brazil. From what I've seen though they've played some neat stuff at times, general awkwardness the rest. In short nowt special. They are very similar to us indeed, low scoring games, clean sheets etc. And despite their creative players, they've struggled to create and convert at times too. Wonder why... ...I don't particlularly rate their strikers and they did lose the Bulgarian kid (Bojinov?) first week of the season who might have made a differance. Swap Bojinov for Barton or Duff or even Owen, players who might have made a difference for us had they been in the side of fully functioning as hasn't been the case with Owen. Accepted.
  9. And you expect both after 6 games, given the mess we were in and the changes the manager has had to make? No I expect to see signs and there have been some that what we're trying to aim at. As I've said earlier I'm fully behind SA, but the point of this thread is that he is over defensive at times and up untill the WH game (where we had good spells) there was a bit of a malaise in midfield with no one really sure what to do, granted Geremi had a couple of bad games and Smith is out of position.
  10. Man City? The team we are 2 points behind with a game in hand you mean, who have spent £50m quid or something? ...no the team who have been playing good cogent football since the start of the season which inc a win over Man Utd. wo ho there tiger, step away from the poppy plated bi-focals, they got absolutely f****** battered against man u, granted they've been playing well but they haven't set the standard to say the least, i've seen them look just as clueless as us They've played ManU, Arsenal and Villa in thier opening matches and won 2 out of 3 of those. I'd be overjoyed with similar results against those sides. oh, so would i, i just think to write off the (usually) well known fact that it takes a new manager, team, set of coaches a while to bring things together by pointing at man city and saying 'well they're playing better than us and they've just started' is a touch naive to say the least. unless of course you're just playing devils advocate, which i dont really see the point of in this case. sometimes the exception proves the rule. It was a simple couter to this new side/bedding in/ argument and the first that came to mind. Out of interest I think Villa are also looking extremely good but he's had an extra year which I accept SA will need.

  12. I'm interested in results and good football. I only mentioned Man City as they have a more or less a new side like us. We've had some easy fixtures to start which has been fortunate and I hope we can carry the momentum through.

  16. Benny moaning about England games again. http://www.football.co.uk/News/benitez_blaming_england_252908.shtml
  17. This season isn't about challenging Chelsea and Liverpool it is keeping up with Man City, Villa, Spurs and Everton.
  18. I'm fully behind Allardyce and reiterated it in many posts in this thread. Also I'm pretty sure the Allardyce out comments are tongue in cheek. Coach Htt's point of attacking the second ball rather than the first and dropping off Ashton might be groundbreaking news to you dear but it is nuts and bolts management. The concerns in this thread still stand, however I'm over the moon with the WH result.....Difficult games coming up.
  19. James you need to give yourself a one day ban and think things over mate. blueyes.gif
