Please take Martins and give us the money to buy Anelka.

Not exactly the most outlandish bit of ITK'ing after today's stories, is it *Check when the thread was started tho fishface*

I'm hearing from my mate in N.London that rumours are rife that Jol has walked.
-
More to the point is we need someone with vision in MF to feed this lot. If we just go wide than that leaves us outnumbered in the middle which seems something the SA loses sleep over.
-
I'd go with Wenger's judgement on him.

I've been here today posting on other threads. You surely don't begrudge me having some lunch? Come on MJ give us the lowdown.

Cule-spur Joined on 03-01-2007 Posts 1,355 Juande Ramos has just issued a denial of an earlier denial in which he denied having ever met with Spurs officials. Ramos denial follows Spurs denial that they had ever offered anything that could be met with a denial in the first place and deny having ever met Ramos who has since denied that he was ever even tempted by Spurs offer. Whilst Tottenhams offer has been met with a denial the Tottenham board issued a statement claiming that "we deny having been denied by Ramos and deny the veracity of these press reports". Chris Hughton denies knowing anything about anything whilst Martin Jol has issued a swift denial that he has been denied the oppurtunity to take Spurs further whilst former Spurs striker Mido has issued a denial denying any involvement and claims that "Denial is river where I come from"

We've built up enough reverse Karma to cover it. Good point. Enough to cover this and maybe one more chuckle at someone else's expense... Wenger? :parky: Jol Wenger? :parky: Chuckle away... http://www.glory-glory.co.uk/forums/thread/192815.aspx

Three games into the season....This is insanity. Jol's treatement would merit compensation whether he walked or not I agree. So much for the old 'planning' and DOF structure eh.
-
I don't think that's what 'dizzying offer' implies tbh.

Based on what? Let me guess - based on you choosing to believe THAT story in the press. Based on this I think: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/articles/thanksandfurtherclarification.html "To further clarify the situation - the Club wishes to make it clear and unequivocal that no individual was or has been offered the position of manager/coach at this Club whilst that position has been held by Martin Jol. It is wholly inaccurate and inappropriate to suggest otherwise" yes, and where is the proof anyone was?? Well who do you believe Spurs or Ramos? Ramos is hardly going to make stuff like that up if he wants to stay at Seville. Where as i believe Spurs offered him the job and where knocked back and then chose to deny it. There is no doubt this is true. Ramos is hardly going to release details of talks with another club if it isn't true. He has nothing to gain and everything to lose. I think he has made comments to reassure Seville of his loyalty. Spurs no doubt threw the cheque book at him.

Fuk that. I hope he stays and fuks them off like Souness did to us. Stay until i'm sacked, and take every penny i am owed with me, and in the meantime i'll let the players do what they want and pick the team out of a hat. How to destroy your season in one easy step. mackems.gif What else is he to do now though? Has the man got enough in him to keep battling against the entire club? The fans want him to stay, but is that enough? I don't think he'd walk without a hefty settlement, out of pure principal, so the longer he stays, the more turmoil the club will endure. BTW am talking about Spuds here and not NUFC, its great isn't it? It's a proper meltdown.

Looks like MJ was right yesterday. All we need now is for Jol to punch Comolli.
-
Jol's position is surely untenable. He must walk. Walk Jol...Walk!

Excellent post.

Hope this isn't a hijack attempt. >

Anelka has re-packaged his game but he was never similar (taking up positions wise) to Owen. He has always been one to carry the ball into the box or come into the box late. He has been a revelation at Bolton, adjusting his runs, pulling wide, carrying the ball while the cavalry arrive etc..
-
Is this why Sam (not so subtly) has tried to offload Martins/Owen? Owen no case need be made this system is totally alien to him and against everything he needs to thrive. Martins although has pace, dosen't really make the instinctive runs (wide and cycle back in) that is needed. Further he isn't the best at holding onto the ball to bring other into the game. Does Shola even know what the big boys talk about?
-
Oh yes. Hopefully Berb might see this as an opportunity to jump ship.
-
Although he is the most suited to the new system, he is the least likeliest to score of our main line strikers. Basically Owen isn't mobile enough and Martins isn't clever/attentive enough to play in the 433. Get Anelka in.

Levy backs Jol... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/6957639.stm Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has told under-fire manager Martin Jol that his job is safe but has warned him he wants to see Spurs in the Champions League. Levy said in a statement: "We are an ambitious club and we have discussed our expectations with Martin. "For that we need our management standards to be of the highest quality so that we can compete with the best. "Martin has confirmed to me that he feels he is equipped with a squad and a determination to take the challenge." Jol and his assistant Chris Hughton met with Levy and the rest of the Spurs' board on Tuesday. "We had a full and frank conversation," Jol told Tottenham's website. "I fully understand the ambitions of the club - they are the same as the supporters. Yes, it is pressure to deliver, but that is what we managers should expect. Hopefully all the media will relax now - all I shall be concentrating on is each and every game Martin Jol "He has put a lot of hard work into this club and with the squad of players we have assembled, it is realistic that we should look to challenge for a top four position and I have assured him and the Board that that is what I shall aim for. "Yes, it is pressure to deliver, but that is what we managers should expect. Hopefully all the media will relax now - all I shall be concentrating on is each and every game." Levy made it clear what he expects from Jol, adding: "We want Champions League football." Pretty much gone I reckon.

He has a certain reputation apparently...... I quite like his 'type' ie going against convention and taking on the status quo, self-made man etc He won't take any shit and if the wants to make something of the club he will. Other than that we'll have to wait and see.
