He's probably been told to hold the ball up and look for a midfielder coming on, a young lad who is still finding his feet and trying to impress won't want to upset anyone so he just stuck to job and did as he was told. Thought he put in a great shift tbh, we've struck gold there, he could have come in and been absolute shite and we'd have been fucked, but he's come in and done a job, nothing more nothing less, under the circumstances that is brilliant for us and a young guy who was nowhere a year ago.

Average as you like, still won: Smith had to make that challenge but it shouldn't have resulted in him being sent off as he should have cut out the stupid rash challenges after the ref gave him that warning that he should have seen yellow for. Just as Butt comes back as well. Nolan still seems to be unfit but still plays 90 mins every week, puzzling. Barton is lost on the left, was pretty awful today, he's still our best midfielder and he should be starting in the middle every week now. Sickens me to see Butt back, even in his 15 min cameo he managed to give it away 3 times, thick as fuck. Improvement wanted, but not necessarily needed for Blackpool. Fucking shocking division.

Taken the foot off the gas after the goal, really need to up it again or they will equalise. The midfield has been shite with the ball, Nolan and Barton the worst of the lot, Ryan Taylor needs to get forward more, never seems to be anywhere when we have the ball on that side. Not bad overall, but would like one of Barton or hopefully Nolan come off for Lovenkrands and have him play off Ranger with Guthrie pushed back into midfield.

When you look at the players coming through this really could be our best chance for a good 10-15 years to win something. We've got the players but more importantly we've got the manager. Still don't think we'll do it though.

At the end of the day I'd rather have Owen on the bench ready to come on if we're one nil down than someone like Bent or Crouch. They might be more rounded strikers but I just don't fancy them to score against a good defence. Owen would be my wildcard.
