To be fair in the second half they were totally overrun as West Brom pushed their full backs up so the 5 in midfield played more centrally and completely dominated. I'd keep them in for Villa although I'm sure Butt will be back in.

But do you not see that hoofing it up to Shola wasn't the problem? That happened because there was no other get out ball for the defence and midfield to play once they won it back because we were too deep. If we had Martins on the shoulder or ready to run into a channel that would have been two options and we wouldn't have had to smack it up to Shola all half. Everything is a knock on effect of something else, if we'd have had Oba stretching the defence we wouldn't have had to hoof it to Shola. In any case Kinnear should have been screaming at him to do so, whether he should need to is another matter.

So what did he do that was so bad last night? I pointed out 2 things I can remember what else was there? Didn't anticipate about 5/6 good flick ons (i.e in his direction from Ameobi). Stood still for long periods of the second half, meaning when we got the ball back he was caught unawares. In that second half he should have been looking to spin the last defender as soon as we won the ball back for the ball over the top, I saw him do it once I think. Picks up the wrong positions in build up play, in the box he actually seems to run into the right areas but in play I don't know what he's thinking sometimes. Also with his pace he should have been hammering the channels in the second half looking for the early ball to catch West Brom on the break, but he's stood static in the middle of the pitch. Take a look at Cisse last week, when he hit those shots when he was facing away from our goal, one little run across the face of the defender and a ball slid into the channel and he had the run on our last defender. Personally I want to see that from Martins every week, it's not a complex run to make and it's an easy get out ball from the midfield if we're under pressure. I don't really blame Oba to be honest, I just genuinely don't think he's got the intelligence to allow him to act at a split second's notice, everything is an afterthought.

The amount of slack he gets cut is beyond belief. Our most overrated player 100%. It's cringe worthy on here with regards to him, anything is used to protect his predictable shit overall performance. Scoring a goal every 3 games or so doesn't make up for the countless times he's caught on his heels, in the wrong position, giving it away, which are regular occurrences.

Yep Martins played fucking shite, like normal and ameobi played excellent, won every header and his passing was brilliant. ...in the first half. He had support in the first half.

Can I just ask in what ways has Martins been better than Ameobi the last 2-3 games? we know martins is good enough and we know ameobi isnt. simple as that for me. saw a diffrent martins to me tonight, i thought he was awful. i meant in general. ameobi has done well for half of 3 games but he's just not good enough. martins can get 15+ a season and that, for us, is good enough. It's what's happening now what important to us, and at the minute, Ameobi has scored as many as Martins, in far fewer minutes. And been a lot more effective in his specific role I might add.

Wouldn't really say it was either of the centre halves fault to be honest. The ball through to Miller was brilliant, not sure what Coloccini could've done differently, made him look a bit dumb but the ball was brilliantly placed and weighted. Absolutely huge 3 points, going into games against Villa, Fulham, Wigan, Stoke and Boro. If we can take 10 points fromm those 5 games I'll be happy. It was whoever's job to organise the defence's fault. They were about 15 yards away from eachother ffs, there was a chasm to send the ball into, it wasn't a good ball by any means. It seems to me that all of the Taylor fanbois try to blame Coloccini all the time and all the Coloccini fanbois try to blame Taylor all the time. Can it never be none of their faults like? When we try to hold a lead it always goes tits up because there's absolutely fuck all organisation throughout the spine of the team, no fucker has a clue where to be, who to pick up anything. How many times did one ball cut out our whole midfield in that second half? Either the midfield needs to organise who will drop and cover that space or one of the centre backs needs to step up immediately and stop them from turning. Ideally the whole team should have stepped up ten yards and kept the pressure on them inside their own half. It completely kills me to see this scenario that happens time after time where we give the ball away up front and every fucker in sight just runs 15 yards backwards. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!?! It invites pressure and means when we get the ball there is no outlet, disgraceful, school boy stuff.

Fuck off those of you saying it was Coloccini's fault for the second, that should have been the other centre half's ball, colo had the man and should have just shielded him out of the way while Taylor intercepted it. They were way too far apart and far too deep from the midfield too, unorganisation yet again causing problems.

What you gain in Martins' 'pace' you lose in general intelligence, anticipating flick ons, passing and moving etc.

One criticism - Our two wingers don't understand the concept of filling in for their full back, we've been caught a couple of times where Beye or Enrique have been draw out towards the man with the ball and Duff especially has stood still and not tracked a run into the open space. Other than that good, also (I'm such a moaning cunt) Ameobi needs to drop ten yards when we haven't got the ball as we're getting overrun in there. Taylor going walkies again Frustrating as he's had a good game apart from it.

We can't afford to allow them the space we let Sunderland have, West Brom are a decent side and are capable of beating us imo. Can't have any of this immediate dropping off of 15/20 yards as soon as we lose the ball anymore, keep the pressure up, keep them penned in, defend narrow, attack wide. 2-0 win.

I would think the order would be Butt, Geremi, Taylor. I don't know who else would be nominated. I'd have Given and Beye over those three for a start, and I usually don't like the idea of a Keeper captain.

Will be a total disgrace if Taylor is captain, utterly farcical.
