http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Stadium/2577/toon-news.htm And to Mr Cole , we used to love you and respect you until you made the mistake of singing "cheer up Kevin Keegan and calling us sad Geordie Bastards" at the charity shield. We don't forget. Revenge is sweet. http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Stadium/2577/colehaha.jpg

With our annual trip to Everton now imminent, NUFC.com thought that the time had finally come to air one particular Goodison-related old wives tale that continues to vex us. As sure as night follows day, Goodison Park on Saturday will reverberate to the sound of a familiar chant: "Oh Gary Gary, Gary Gary Gary Sh*thouse Speed" While nobody expects the level of reception that Les Ferdinand gets at St.James' Park to be repeated for all returning ex-players, there's normally a valid reason when a former darling of the crowd becomes the target of such terrace bile. Think of Paul Ince at West Ham after his Man United cross-dressing moment while still a hammer, or more pertinently the lack of booing or derision that accompanied a return visit Andy Cole, until he was caught by the TV cameras in his infamous rendition of "cheer up Kevin Keegan..." Speed's crime was not that the lifelong Evertonian spurned the captaincy and chose to walk away from his boyhood heroes in early 1998. Even the most clueless Blue was pragmatic enough to realise that their massive debts had to be serviced by the departure of big names for big prices. Hence the warm reception afforded to Duncan Ferguson when he returned to the blue half of Merseyside in a black and white shirt in March 2000. No, Speed's crime was to mysteriously fail to turn up for the coach taking Everton to an away game at West Ham in January 1998, an act that could be deemed out of character for a player who has never been newsworthy due to off-field antics and is considered enough of an example to captain his country. http://www.nufc.com/html/speed-house.html

No it was a cowboys and indians sound. he was there from my first season 85 to 89, then he just stopped his noises, went to jail, or never came back. He was there early 90's like but went away when we got promoted

No room, what with the requests for technical help for using a 16 track digital recorder. bluebigrazz.gif Stevie took one look at that and decided to keep it real. To be fair, it was Stevie's idea to put it on the main site. Well when it's all finished in a few weeks time, if you or Andy could get it on newsnow, that would be great. Older toon fans who don't frequent this site might be interested. My initial idea was other people to contribute their memories of 89/90, and we had a big collection. I'm doing my part 1-6 chronologically though, McGhee's goal will probably be in part 3. I think Peter Jackson was one of the Bradford centre halfs he skinned that day might be wrong like. i have to say, if you continued this up to the present day i would buy it blueyes.gif

Babayaro, Parker, Duff, Bridge, SWP, Diarra... Marseille and Newcastle are reportedly interested in landing the services of Chelsea's defensive midfielder Lassana Diarra. The French Under-21 international is rated highly, but he is struggling to make the breakthrough at Stamford Bridge. Marseille director of sport Jose Anigo is reported to have met with the player's agent and proposed a move for Diarra in the January transfer window could materialise. Chelsea could allow the player to go on loan until the end of the season in order to gain regular first team football. Marseille are said to be favourites to snap up Diarra but they face stiff competition not only from Premiership outfit Newcastle but also from Lille. Meanwhile, Marseille coach Albert Emon has been impressed by DC United's Brian Carroll, who has been on trial with the club since Sunday. Emon is currently searching for a defensive midfielder to replace the recently departed Sabri Lamouchi. "He has technical skills, seems comfortable and understands well what I ask him to do," Emon told the club's website. "This player has been recommended to us and has attracted interest already from a number of clubs. "We are going to take our time to decide and watch his game. "We will decide after 10 days." Injured striker Djibril Cisse took part in a match for the first time this season during a Marseille training session on Tuesday. However, Emon confirmed he will not resume playing for several weeks. "We will continue to follow the deadline we set. I will ask him what he felt," the coach said. "We will see how things will evolve during the next few training sessions." Cisse will meet with a doctor in December to assess his progress.

Him and the four blokes around him are consistently pissed as F*** I believe everyone should do what they do, bath 9am, can round the mates 10am, pub 11am-3. Atmosphere would be mint. To the other bloke, he's not a yodeller they make a different sound to the East Stand bloke, and if he's from Heaton, unlucky for him, too many student C***s round there these days. where do you sit now Stevie? i sit 2 seats from NE corner, in the leazes, got moved there in 94 from the gallowgate I used to sit Row L seat 32 in the Leazes upper (not level 7) from 1993-2001 then I moved further forward cos they were all miserable cunts beside me and those blokes were down a bit to my left. My season ticket last season was in Leazes Level 7 and was class apart from one or two of the stewards, but I've not got it this season, just been going game to game when I can but will get my exact seat back next season. I know a lass who sits in the NE corner, do you sit sort of in the middle of it. She's fit and got blonde hair if there's anyone of that description near you. Im in row J of Leazes

Charles N'Zogbia travelled to Germany today after being told by Glenn Roeder that his future is very much with Newcastle United. The United boss is aware that several clubs both home and abroad, including Arsenal, are eyeing up United's 20-year-old French midfielder. But before boarding the club's specially-chartered 737 for tomorrow's UEFA Cup game against Eintracht Frankfurt, Roeder told me today: "Charles N'Zogbia is an exciting talent for us. "His future is here at Newcastle United - and anyone who is mischievously saying otherwise is totally wasting their time. "Charles is very important in my plans for the future of this club and you do not find players like him growing on trees. "The way he has virtually come from nowhere to make over 50 starts for us is nothing short of meteoric. "But we must not forget that he is still only 20, and while he is extremely talented and quite rightly well-liked by our supporters, especially for the flair in his game, we have got to be patient with him. "Fortunately what is helping me to deal with Charles is the fact that I had the likes of Jermain Defoe, Michael Carrick and Joe Cole as players in my time as manager of West Ham United, and I found that you cannot expect 20-year-olds to be fantastic every game. "But now with Damien Duff injured and likely to be out for some time, Charles knows that he is going to have a run in the team and this should be a great encouragement to him." N'Zogbia (above) has not scored since his goal against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in April and I believe it is fair to say that the North-East's current Young Player of the Year has not hit his best form so far this season. But N'Zogbia has had to recover from the early tragic death of his father and the loss of the footballer he most looked up to when Jean Alain Boumsong left for Juventus in the close season. However, he showed in the latter stages against Portsmouth on Sunday, when he made the winning goal for Antoine Sibierski, that he is now ready to show the sort of form that has made some United fans unconcerned about the absence of Duff. Roeder added: "Part of my job with young players is that they should not start to believe their own publicity and take their eye off the ball. "I know that Charles is the sort of player who does not respond to the iron fist but to the velvet glove, and when he is in my office all he needs is to have an arm put round him. "I have told him that apart from regaining his best form for Newcastle United he has to be trying to get into the French squads in the near future. "What I have never told him is that when Tord Grip was England's No 2 to Sven-Goran Eriksson and he talked to me about Kieron Dyer he also asked me where Charles was from. "When I told him France he said that this was a shame because he and Sven would have loved him to be part of the England set-up."

In 1899, Juventus played in pink shirts but continual washing faded the colour so much that in 1903 they sought to replace them. The club asked one of their team members, Englishman John Savage, if he had any contacts in England who could supply new shirts in a colour that would better withstand the elements. By coincidence, his friend back home lived in Nottingham, and being a Notts County supporter, shipped out the black and white striped shirts to Turin. Juve have worn the shirts ever since, considering the colours to be aggressive and powerful.

True, but still better to be in the top half of the league than not. You should be on the telly or something with insightful comments like that. I find it amusing they're having a go at us for 48,000 - only THIRTEEN thousand more than they got !!!! We're p*ssed off at Shepherd and Roeder, and on the verge of outright boycott of the club in protest, 9 goals in 14 games, in relegation bother, yet STILL get THIRTEEN THOUSAND (I think it worth the capitals) more than they get. Both visiting sides - Wigan and Portsmouth - were hardly big draws - neither take many with them.So if we're bad - WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MAKE SPUD FANS ?? Not me if you read my posts again. Spurs' home ticket allocation was sold out and Newcastle's was about 1000 shy of doing the same. I don't see any reason to have a pop about this as there's very little difference in my book. The fact that Newcastle's attendance was 13000 more is down to the size of the stadium, not the support in it. Easy to say when you have a much smaller stadium. Impossible to prove though. True, especially when Newcastle is a one team city, which is an advantage that Newcastle will always enjoy. With fingers crossed, maybe we'll be able to see if Spurs are capable of filling a 48k stadium in 5 or 6 years. have you not read this thread? ---------- I can hear the cogs whirring in Spurs fans brains from here, looking for an excuse to this. One of the most common is "but Newcastle is a one club city whereas London has many clubs vying for a punters support". At first glance that appears to make some sense, but lets look a little deeper at that theory. There are 5 other London clubs in the PL (Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham, Charlton and West Ham), 3 in the championship (Crystal Palace, Luton & QPR) 2 in League 1 (Leyton Orient & Millwall) and none in league 2 . So 10 London Clubs in the PL + football league. London has a population of 7.5 Million whereas Newcastle has a population of approximately 275,000. Assuming each person in London is equally likely to support any London club each club has a potential fan base in their home city of 750,000, already nearly three time the entire population of Newcastle. Only 1/20th of that 750,000 (or 1 /200 of the population of London) is needed to fill White Hart Lane, however 1/5 of the population of the Newcastle is needed to fill St James Park, and unlike the Londoners they gladly oblige!! ----------
