By MARTIN PHILLIPS Senior Feature Writer March 02, 2007 THE Sun won another victory in the footie price war yesterday when Blackburn announced an average 25 per cent cut in season tickets. It will make Rovers’ seats the cheapest in the Premiership, with the lowest-priced season ticket costing £249, or just £13 a match. The move takes to SIX the number of top-flight clubs acting on prices since we launched our crusade. Blackburn join Sheffield United, Everton, Bolton, Man City and Chelsea. Our crusade has also been backed by Tony Blair, sports minister Richard Caborn and a host of football pundits. A family of two adults and two children will be able to watch all 19 Premiership matches at Blackburn for £696 — £189 less than the least expensive season ticket for ONE ADULT at Arsenal. Blackburn will use £1million of its new TV cash to fund the deal. Chairman John Williams — the first Premiership chief to use the TV money to help cut prices — hailed The Sun’s efforts to make sure ordinary fans are not priced out of the grounds. He said: “The Sun’s campaign has struck a chord with supporters and we believe the new prices take into account worries of fans and address cost.” Blackburn manager Mark Hughes added: “The players all want to play in front of full stadiums. Hopefully this will encourage even more supporters to come.” http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2007100096,00.html The Football Supporters' Federation wants a flat fee of £15 for all away fans at Premiership matches which would be nice

from nufc.com Owen claim latest From the Sporting Life, Wednesday: FIFA say they have made a "final offer" to Newcastle of £1million in compensation for Michael Owen's injury at the World Cup - six times less than the club are claiming from the game's world governing body. Owen ruptured his cruciate knee ligament 55 seconds after coming onto the pitch in Germany last year and Newcastle are already receiving compensation from the FA of £50,000 a week towards his salary costs. The club had submitted a separate claim to FIFA for £6.2million but the world governing body's president Sepp Blatter said they had made a final offer of 2.2million Swiss francs (£1million). Blatter said the overall compensation should be shared between FIFA, the FA and the club's own insurers. He told a media briefing in London: "Newcastle have come saying they have to replace him with another player, that this is not fair. "We have made a last offer there, and if someone has responsibility then it's the FA towards the player. "The transfer regulations say players put at the disposal of the national team should be insured by their club. The competition regulations of the World Cup say the national associations must make sure the players are correctly insured. "We have also set up a special fund for injuries to players for all 32 participants of the competition with a total of 15 million Swiss francs (£7million) available for everybody. "If you look who is asking for money [from the fund] then something is wrong because it is from the richest league in the world." The FA's insurance policy covers a player's wages, capped to a maximum £50,000 a week, for 52 weeks. Newcastle have also lodged a claim for further compensation from the FA as well as FIFA to cover the cost of signing £10million striker Obafemi Martins as a replacement for Owen, who cost £17million from Real Madrid. An FA spokesman said: "The position remains unchanged. We have been in constructive discussions with Newcastle since the World Cup. "We are sympathetic towards their position with reference to the injury and those discussions are ongoing."

Shows how much drivel you are spouting. O'Shea went in goal. Besides which, Gary Neville blatantly England's best ever right back and still probably the best right back in the world. STILL reeling them in

Get him signed up in the summer!! Still has a few good years left in him and he is the best full back in the league. no thanks Carr or Neville? You sir, are a clown. How the hell is he like Bell-end. Does he go around smacking team mates with golf clubs or throwing chairs about in departure lounges? How much trouble has he actually been in since he has been at Manure? he had a punch up with his brother Phil and he had to leave he refused to play in goal a couple of weeks ago and Rio had to go in
