    RIP sale thread.

. . and what would be the point of him buying it anyway, he couldn't afford to run it. The BEST we could hope for with him, it seems (which would be 'hopeless', but still better than right now actually) would be 'mid-table Premier League nothingness', like we used to think of Villa, Everton, Spurs, Man City & co. Still, no matter who (if anyone) buys the club, it is difficult to imagine us ever competing 'season in season out' for the Premier League Title - which was always the Sir John Hall aim, and is always where a club with such huge support and resources (income) such as us, should always be. No, the short term future is poor for us. The medium term future is poor for us. The long term future is poor for us. Basically, as "achievers" and "potential achievers" I think we have HAD IT. We will always just be able to look back at the recent 'SBR' and 'first-KK' eras . . . and D R E A M. Thats all. It really is refreshing to see someone on here displaying such a positive outlook.
  2. Looking back doesn't serve you so well when you're trying to move forward.
  3. The over-reaction against this thieving turd has been ridiculous. CRUCIFY HIM!!!!
  4. If we go off the facebook thing, he looks like a white horse, stood on a football in a stream. You should go on Britain's Got Talent. Just so you could get booed off. Look love, it's pretty simple: women can't do comedy. Know your limits. I am so coming to the next N-O match to stand, point and laugh at you trying to play football. Feel free. I won't be there.

I mean "big club" in the Freddie Shepherd sense...

I already know the abuse and the sort of answer(s) I'll get for even daring to ask the question but... Do you think Manchester City is a bigger club than Newcastle United?

Will probably get a ban after his antics yesterday though. That player who celebrated in front of the fans while they were fighting in that West Ham v Millwall game wasn't punished was he? Like that means anything when it comes to footballing authorities handing out punishments. Consistency of approach isn't one of their known strong points.

Good post. I think you're right that many sneering at Man City right now really are just doing so because they're being childish and envious. Blackburn had Jack Walker and won the Premiership. Chelsea have had Abramovich, ditto. We had Sir John Hall, he two Freddies, loads of wonga, but we blew it and we've been in gradual decline for a few years now, accelerated by the current Ashley regime. Citeh are one of the few clubs who rival NUFC for recurrent melodrama and intrigue off the pitch. Over the past few years Citeh fans have had to endure various highs and lows including two relegations, the excitement of a Keegan promotion, the lows of Stuart Pearce's amateur hour, the media frenzy around Shinawatra's arrival and the accompanying political farce, Sven coming and going and now they're in total fantasy football territory courtesy of their current Abu Dhabi owners having splashed out silly money this summer. They've spent years feeling like the Premiership's media whipping boys, frequently ridiculed and undermined. If they buy the title, then they won't be the first, and I certainly wouldn't begrudge the fans a bit of joy from that either, but I can't say I feel comfortable with where this scale of spending is taking the game of football more generally.

Main feature on Football Focus right now. Can't help thinking that there's a fair few amongst the Geordie faithful who wouldn't be batting an eyelid were we to be in the shoes of Citeh fans right now, rather than expressing their abhorrence of the way money is corrupting the beautiful game. Our current predicament seems in a strange sort of way to be helping people see things in a different light now, but go back three or so years and we'd have chewed our right arms off to have an Abramovich or rich oil shiekh come in to SJP and "do us a Chelsea".

Pointless trying to second guess him. Mike Ashley is as mad as a box of frogs.

Racism has no place on this forum. Watch it Dave, you better pretend you don't find his voice funny or you're a horrible monstrous racist You do know that Dave's standing for election next year for the BNP, right?

No, I'm saying he's a decent player with potential to relapse into being a big-time charlie on the make.

Should hopefully piss this league, if he actually bothers to turn up. Always struck me as a "big game" player when he was at Rangers, i.e. only really turned up for the big games (Old Firm derby etc) but all too frequently he'd struggle in less important matches...and in the Championship, it's all too easy to fall into the trap of believing that "lesser" teams will be a walkover. I welcome his signing, he's a canny player alright, but I'm not awestruck by his signing like others on here seem to be.
  18. The only mystery about these players is how long before we'll be saying "why the fuck did we sign them?"
  19. Pleasing to see the young lads responding so well to the challenge of taking on first team responsibilities, and Smith also looks to have played well this evening too from what little I've managed to see on the box. Encouraging stuff. Only downside is that Ashley may still get rid of some of these stars tomorrow in the last minute fire sale...
  20. In order of preference: 03/04 Away and then 95/96 away kit. Torn between the two because 03/04 was a fantastic kit whilst 95/96 just has more nostalgia associated with it for me.
  21. Are you sure it wasn't Caster Semenya you saw in Floritas?
  22. Yep. I see what you did there, clever. You think? It wasn't one of my best, tbh. Pretty shit really. But you know, it's the level so many people on here can relate to...so I do my best to just lower myself to that level. Meanwhile...we're fucked aren't we?
