So the good news about today's match coverage is that good old Jacqui Oatley is at Selhurst Park...so who do you reckon will be doing match commentary on the highlights programme?
-
This is turning out to be a splendid afternoon all round.
-
OMG!!!1111 Gordon Strachan's on Football Focus now, so that must mean we're signing Ribery!
-
Brilliant. Absolutely inspired. That's quite simply the best suggestion yet.

Surely the best thing to do for your own mental health is to come to the conclusion that we are going to (regardless of the ownership problem being resolved one way or the other by Monday) be facing a good few months without any substantial player investment being possible. It's far from desirable, but it is where we are and the sooner people get that into their heads the better. Unless someone from on here comes up with a miraculous windfall and can buy the club outright, and has amazing connections around the footballing world, we simply aren't going to be looking at anything other than a truly torrid time, scrapping for points and hoping that we can somehow evade the inevitable injury crisis that will ensue. Fucking mess, but there we are. I really don't see the point in torturing yourself any further. Why give the fat cockney cunt the pleasure of knowing he's making thousands of Geordies squirm with anxiety?

I'm pretty certain we've lost Martins, Beye, Bassong, Owen, Duff, Cacapa, Lovenkrands, Viduka and Edgar and brought in Danny Simpson on loan. I'm also pretty certain that we have no manager and the transfer window shuts in 11 days. The press don't have to make any shit up. You're missing neesy's point. I assumed his point was that the press know nothing? Why else would he point that out other than to say we're all panicking for nothing? Aye, well. I think in fairness to neesy he was simply questioning why folks are quite so ready to believe the first rumour that gets posted on here, and treat it as gospel truth, before it's even been verified...especially if it's more "bad news"... There's a fair few of us on here who are running round like Chicken Licken proclaiming that the sky's about to fall in. It's certainly cloudy and not looking too bright, I'd agree.... The stuff I said in my first reply is all fact. A couple of wins against shite opposition doesn't make everything rosy again, unless your name is Mike Ashley of course. Not only is it very easy to believe the bad news stories, we're actively making them ourselves. Where have I said that everything in the garden is rosy? Not sure tbh.

As far as I understand yeah. Don't all players have that right? Just because two clubs agree fees doesn't mean the player actually has to move. Aye, but it isn't as simple as that IMO. The club want him out for whatever reason, accepting a bid would just reaffirm this fact, so why would you stay at a club where you effectively weren't welcome? If there was a team in front of you, in the Premiership and Europe, no ownership problems, a proper manager, you could be Monty frigging Magpie and you'd still seriously consider leaving. Monty Magpie is leaving? FUCKING HELL!!! WILL THIS MADNESS EVER END? :frantic: :frantic:

Absoloute nonsense. You're just sickened that someone round here actually knows how to be a WUM. Learn from the best, child.

If we got offered £4M for Smith I'd be stunned if Ashley took it. In fact even if someone offered £20M for Smith, I'd be stunned if Ashley took it. He knows how much Smith is detested by the fans, and to him, that is worth more than cold hard cash. That is priceless. And he is fucking loving it.
-
He's as good as gone. His card is marked for the exit door. Ashley sees pound signs and he wants to realise his assets in a way which will alienate and annoy the Geordie faithful to the max.
-
Alan Smith once said he'd never play for Manchester United.

Thats a pretty moronic thing to say at this point in time. I doubt those who've "had enough" really have, theyre just expressing their dispair. I also wouldnt massively judge people negatively for having fallen out of love with football recently after having this fat clown consistantly f*** up any hopes we could possibly have of enjoying football once again. Probably best to get off your high horse. He's absolutely right though. We're going through the shite again and we'll come out of the other side again too. You mean like Leeds, Forest, Sheff Weds, Southampton etc? No, like we did 17-18 years ago When Jayson was just 4 years old. So in fairness, he's not seen this shit happen before and is panicking and buying into the Doomsday scenario that all the doom-mongers are wallowing in right now.

The biggest pisstake is that he's now actually worthy of being the fan's favourite, ironically enough - with us having descended to a level which matches his innate ability, and yet STILL people want to condescend and ridicule the poor lad because they're labouring under the delusion that we're above having someone like him play for us. We are where we are. It wasn't meant as a pop at Shola. It's the fact that a former bungling second choice striker who was previously thought of pretty poorly is now our big hope. Frankly i'm delighted to see Shola have his moment, but it's a sign of our fall. Aye. Tis a bastard of a situation we're in and no mistake. What goes up must come down. I'm sure the reverse is sometimes true as well. Keep the faith.

This is yet another depressingly inevitable by-product of where we are at the moment. Others have said it better: but you can't blame the lad for moving on and preserving his chances of an England career. This is yet further evidence of just how things will get worse before they get better.

Put your handbag down, dear. I was merely following cubaricho's line of being Devil's Advocate in this instance. I blame the boredom of not knowing where the fuck we are with this whole sorry saga. Fair enough, I blame the anger of wanting to stove Mike Ashley's head in with a rusty claw hammer. An anvil would be more effective.

You don't seriously expect folks on here to say anything bad about Wor Al, do you? Or more to the point, for anyone (other than indi, perhaps) to be bold enough to suggest that maybe Ashley could see Shearer was clueless how to sort things out?
-
Can't I have both options at the same time?
-
He may well have decided to try and wear down the antipathetic Geordie support, anticipating that he will be vindicated in showing that his way (cutting the squad to bare bones, and still winning enough games to get promotion) was the right way. Certainly seems a stubborn enough bastard.
