mackems.gif No shit, Sherlock. :|

Right! Time's up. Get a move on Vic...
-
Vic - you do realise we expect you to provide us with a thorough analysis of the poll results, in the next 20 minutes... don't you? tongue.gif

Actually the Sports Bar is a grand idea as I think that you can watch whatever you choose there, get your own screen and enjoy.
-
Sports Bar would be your best bet - but I'd imagine nigh on all the bars will be showing the Rangers match tonight.

It's been posted in at least two other takeover threads. tongue3.gif http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php/topic,32448.msg620913.html#msg620913 http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php/topic,32262.msg621633.html#msg621633 Whatever. Some of us have busier lives than others. Get over it.

Moody Dave in his fullest condescending glory there - oblivious to the fact other people may have been away and not been able to stay in touch with developments on the takeover front.

Yeah hes very good, a solid leader who reads the game well. Hes quite old though and lacking a bit of pace. I have my doubts that he would be able to keep up with the constant pace of the premiership but he could be good, just the type of guy to show a bit of leadership to Taylor and Ramage. The way Romanov is going on at the moment, Pressley could either be available on a free, or he'll stick a ridiculously high price on the boy's head and make him sit it out at Tynecastle on the bench, Luque-style for the rest of the season.
-
To be honest, it needs to happen in the next fortnight, if we were to stand a proper chance of getting things sorted in time for the Jan window, surely?
-
Ok, stupid question cos I really can't think of the answer to this..................... Why would a 'high powered' delegation travel all the way upto Glasgow to view the match if they have no intention of watching a player? Surely they could sit on their fat arses (Aye, thats right Freddie) in front of the TV? What benefit will they get from being there? Probably there to meet up with Manchester United reps rather than Celtic reps, regarding Rossi.

Beattie would be a good option right now, but how much would he cost? Is he playing regularly for Everton and is he scoring? Last time i checked he wasn't doing so well, maybe a move would suit all parties. Nah he's not getting a game at Everton. He's grabbed a couple of goals - a respectable amount i think considering how much he's played I wouldnt say no to Hartley, but Pressley's getting on and Gordon wouldnt come. He's too good to be second choice here. Pressley's 33 - by my reckoning he's got a good 3 (possibly more) years left in him, and he does read the game very well - I agree with Dunedin on that. Gordon would be a good signing for us even on loan. Pressleys a great player and a leader but he lacks pace like most 33 year olds and its asking a bit much for a 33 year to make the step up to the premiership, asking far too much imo. Gordons fantastic. Hartley again would struggle with the step up. Both Pressley and Hartley would be far good options considering what we have in their positions at present, and would not be costly...so worth a gamble, mainly cos I just don't see it as that big a gamble. Robbie Fowler...that could work. blueyes.gif

Two strikers needed, I reckon...so: Kevin Phillips (as I said before) and Robert Earnshaw. Sorted. And as far as other positions concerned, I'd not be too upset if we saved Steven Pressley (CB), Craig Gordon (GK) and Paul Hartley (CF) from Hearts...all would do a good honest, dedicated job for us and we'd probably get them at a knock down price from Romanov. I mean, we think WE'VE got problems with out Chairman...I think we should thank our lucky stars by comparison, tbh...
-
Kevin Phillips. If West Brom would let us have him. I'd also suggest we raid Hearts squad. Bound to be cheap players going in the Jan sales.

I was joking with a mate of mine that if I won the EuroMillions jackpot (£120M next weekend) I'd spend the lot on NUFC. Thought about it a bit more (5 seconds) and realised the plain fact is this club hardly represents a good business opportunity - brilliant way to bankrupt yourself, but not much joy in it. Really can't see why any Rich Geordies would want to spunk their money away on this shower of shite.
-
They is, is they? Whereas running around trying to put words into other people's mouths, cackling at your own "jokes", setting up straw man after straw man and spouting the same old irrelevant shite over and over and over again is what makes it so wonderful, right? If you're referring to "points" such as your remark about my Uncle Jim's parrot, it couldn't back Souness because it was dead. Like your brain. Tedious.
-
45 people in total who clearly want him to stay. That'll be the same 45 people who told him we wanted Roeder as our manager, presumably.
-
That'll be Zoggy leaving in the Jan transfer window then...
-
I know - it just seemed like THE most asinine comment any football pundit has ever made! How about Tino Asprilla? Aye, he was signed mid-season and yes Mr Cass - he was absolutely shocking.
-
Invicta Toon - you're either just a lazy mong or a stupid one...how about you explain yourself and then maybe people can understand what they're voting on?
-
Interesting to hear Bob Cass banging on about the state of NUFC and pronouncing that NUFC are NOT "too big or too good a club to go down"...and then simultaneously exhonerating Freddie Shepherd from any blame and saying he couldn't understand the fans calling for Shepherd's resignation. Some other bloke (can't remember his name) said NUFC was the second biggest "poison chalice" in terms of football management - being England manager is the biggest apparently. But the killer comment came just before a commercial break when Bob Cass said "seriously, you just don't find GOOD players making moves in the January transfer window..."

Really?!! Oh well, if you insist! http://img.dailymail.co.uk//i/pix/2006/08/shepherdGETTY210806_228x304.jpg Shepherd plans Toon takeover 11.11.06 Under-fire Newcastle United chairman Freddy Shepherd wants to end the 15-year reign of the Hall family with a buy-out of the £90 million club. Shepherd has faced bitter calls for his resignation from Toon fans angry at the club's slump to the foot of the Premiership. But, far from relinquishing power, Shepherd wants to take over the majority shareholding of Sir John Hall and his son, Douglas, and assume sole control of the club. With the club likely to be valued at £90m, he would have to pay around £37m for Sir John's 29 per cent share-holding and his son's 12 per cent. Shepherd already owns 28 per cent and if he does cut a deal with the Halls he will have to make an identical offer to all remaining shareholders, as it would take him over the 30 per cent threshold set by Stock Exchange rules. He then intends to remove Newcastle from their Stock Exchange listing, following the examples of Malcolm Glazer at Manchester United, Roman Abramovich at Chelsea, and Randy Lerner at Aston Villa. But Shepherd is likely to face competition. The mysterious Jersey-based company, The Belgravia Group, have been in talks with the club. Any buy-out would end the 15-year association with the club by Sir John Hall, who finally gained control of Newcastle after a bitter boardroom battle. Sir John set about revitalising the ailing club, bringing in Kevin Keegan as manager. Keegan achieved promotion to the Premiership and famously almost won the title in 1996, before being overhauled by Manchester United. But the news that Shepherd wants to stay at St James' Park for the long haul will dismay those angry Newcastle fans who demonstrated against him following last weekend's home defeat against Sheffield United. Shepherd, however, has often had to leave the big decisions to the Halls and, while they have been spending more time overseas, he has been left in a firefighting role. Now he has decided that if he is going to take the flak for poor results and bad transfer buys, he should be in control.
