  1. Probably on a fair amount already tbh... so matching it is probably a fantastic offer. I'd say he's worth the wage of a top 4 fullback. You think he's on Evra money? Ashley Cole money? Hell, even Glen Johnson will earn more than him. Matching the guys current salary (when he signed he wasn't a big name, so won't be on mega bucks of Colo etc) is not an incredible offer. Liars. He isn't worth top 4 left back money. No way. Disagree.

Can we afford to offer champions league wages? Wages? Isn't that what the Carroll money is for? Oh, and Bore holes. And tarmac. In all seriousness, if that money was supposed to cement our premiership standing/move us fwd then how does losing the best fullback we've had in 20 years, work?
  3. Of course he is. I'm amazed by how many posters on this board continually look to blame the players, the ex-board and any other fucker so as to avoid seeing the lying cunts who run our club get any stick.

  5. Of course they do and Pardew is absolutely complicit in it.
  6. Of course they're liars, anyone who doesn't see that by this stage simply doesn't want to. Naive in the extreme to think otherwise.
  7. Apparently giving the guy the same deal is now an 'incredible offer', eh Pardew?

    Gervinho

He's a good forward, we knew that already. Same with Gameiro I'm sure. If CL clubs are competing for the same players as us we don't have much chance tbh. It's more disappointing when we lose out to players to clubs like Villa who are more in our bracket. Yep - just a shame we couldn't nick him before Arsenal bid. Never likely though.

Scored twice for Arsenal today in 29 mins.

C'mon Brummie, get off the fence, what do you really think of Fabregas?
  11. And don't you believe that's exactly what the club statement will read! Oh aye probably - like a new signing and all that bollocks. But he's as good a fullback as we've had in my time of following the club.
  12. If there's anyway Jose can be talked into staying he'd be the signing of the summer in my eyes.

Nailed on. To have so little influence in a workplace when you're (in theory) third in command must be terrible. 'Come and be one of the main men Alan' said Mike. 'Just don't bother me and Dekka with your opinions'.
  14. Really looking forward to seeing this guy get a run of games. Might be totally wrong but think he'll take a season to adapt and for the team to adapt to having him in it. A bit different to Tiote who was a hit from the off. Don't know why but there's something about his transfer that reminds me of Didi Hamman.

If he can't speak his mind why bother, why lie, why not take the Hughton approach? If finances are out of his control, why commit £35m being spent on the first team?

Spot on, people just seem to expect that football managers have some sort of obligation to spell out the exact truth in public. Most of them are spinning a story 80% of time, if not more. Doubt it. Anyhow, we'll have to agree to disagree. Clearly coming from very different positions on this but good to have the debate.
  17. who is suggesting this? surely you just have a wage bill and a % of profits generated reinvested into team affairs shall we call it? any money from sales can be split however you like into dividends (so called)/transfer fees/wages this is why i said i have no problem with the idea in principle, it's not bad, but the way MA is running with it it's a fucking pisstake ian...it's literally taking the piss out of 10's of 1,000's of people sorry but there's no clearer way to say it Everyone is implying it all the time. Almost every post contains something like "this much of the Carroll money has gone on the training ground" or "so many million out of the Carroll money has gone on Tiote's new contract". What I'm saying is exactly what you admit, that it isn't a separate stash of money and shouldn't be treated as different to any of our other income. Some people seem to be suggesting that it's criminal not to use the bulk of the money on transfer fees in this window. If you agree with me then no worries. The why did Billy Bullshit feel the need to reassure the fans it would all be spaffed on improving the team? Nay team, Squad. Nay Squad, Club. Nay transfers, Bore Holes and Training Bibs. Yeah, I totally agree that what he said about investing it all in the team was wrong. I never believed it at the time. But criticising him for saying something is different to blaming him for not being right. My point is that it's inherent in him. His lying was the trotting out of a last minute, botched discussion/party line agreed between him and Llambias, for sure. Why not just say it like it is and be done with it? He'd be far better recieved. There's no question, it was a massive fee and represents a huge result for the Owner but from a fans perspective, to lose a geordie number nine, the future of the club for ten years and you get fuck all back it makes you question his agenda as the manager - why would he want to be at a club that does that? Also, it was obvious that AC was being touted around the premiership when we sold him so it wasn't an unexpected bid. That's why I think the same will happen to Tiote. I'd put my on it if a bookie would take a bet.

His job will be turn out whatever team is there after a window and in return he'll get some form of bonus for towing the party line. It's the not the AC sale for the fee, it's the bullshit (from him) about what we would do with the fee and his inability to influence the board. There's a few good reasons why he'll not quit; 1) He's on a cut. 2) He's got no integrity in top level football. 3) He'll never get a gig this big again - he only got this one because he's a sympathiser.

My point is Ian, I want someone with intergrity - not an obvious Ashley whelp. I want a manager who can genuinely fight his corner to protect the good of the team, to demand players in certain positions and to throw the dummy out of the pram when he has to. Pardew's too busy wiping Mikes jizz from his lips to worry about shit like that. The difference is I believe he is trying to convince Ashley to spend when he can. I believe that, you choose to believe something else, the truth is that nobody has a fucking clue. The feeling I get from Pardew is that he's quite a genuine guy, that's it really. I'm not saying he'll be able to make Ashley spend big, but nobody would be able to do that... and if they tried too hard they would have to resign. So, you don't think there's any truth in Golfmags post about the reasons he was appointed? Maybe, I can't remember what the specific claims were TBH. If you mean because he's mates with Llambias and/or Ashley, then I don't think that means he can't perform his job as well as anyone could under their ownership. For me Pardew's reign has been pretty well all positives so far. I still hate the way Hughton was treated but I can't hold that against his replacement. We'll have to disagree on that front - selling AC, not being able to get the owner to invest more than tuppence haypenny to date and his constant bullshit make me think he'll be found out by everyone bar those with rose coloured specs on quite quickly. His inability to get the owner to strengthen where the team needs will cost him.

jackflash posted some pardew carroll quotes the other day and they were horrifying man i'd love to see an analysis of his comments since he took over, he's reading fucking scripts imo Me too - I wish I had the time to compile them. From his first presser to date, he's been a one-man bullshitting machine. I remember listening to him after a Monday Night Game and the interviewer asked him about the possibility of Beckham and he said something like, 'you never know, we'd never rule him out, it's a complicated deal with Beckham I should think but he's one that could wear the shirt' which was an absolute heap of shite. In the same interview he also said he'd be knocking on Mike Ashleys door (the Jan window had just opened - it was after a 1-0 win with Amoebi scoring but can't remember the opposition) - for another offensive player as we were very light. We subsequently sold AC and only brought in Kuqi.
