  1. What's Steven Taylor doing with Terry at every dead ball? Fucking cudding him or what? Get a hold of him you chest puffing cunt.
  2. What the fuck is Wilkins on about 'our type of football' when referring to Krul. He's been here years you fucking dog.
  3. We only got £30 million up front. Cheers - saved me having to edit.
  4. We have a winner, well said that man A manager first and foremost needs to manage the team, not talk bollocks to the media Whether or not you think Pardew should be getting involved with the club's PR is another matter. All I am saying is that is what he is doing. And fwiw I agree with Minhosa that he is a polished communicator. But I also think those examples of things he's said are hardly sinister and loaded with lack of integrity. Aye - I'm sure there's plenty more - they were just off the top of my head. Either way, wouldn't trust him and never will after the way he got the job - but don't want to go over old ground with that discussion.
  5. I wish people comprehend better about this fact You can say that again.
  6. Jan 11 £50k - total outgoings £30m - total incomings Net Profit: £29.95m Objective: Avoid Relegation = Complete. Mike Ashley = Winning.
  7. In terms of PR being the argument for Pardews appointment, I can see that he may appear more polished/proactive in front of the press but imho he's not added much at all because what he says has very little integrity. The complete opposite of Hughton if you like. Hughton turned up with little to say but wasn't a plant. Pardew has too much to say and I don't believe a word of it. He's a few headlines off being Chemical Ali tbh. - In January he refused to rule out signing Beckham when interviewed after a game. - In January he insisted that AC was not going anywhere. - He then stated that all of the AC money would go back into the 'squad' and subsequently has changed it to 'the running of the football club'. - He's publically criticised Ranger which appears to have had little impact. - He's stated publically unrealistic return dates for injured players and then changed his view within days. He's Joe Kinnear with a script.
  8. Pretty sure he's just (like in the last 6 months) signed a new, long term contract so it'd take a big bid to get him. £35m should do it. Bargain - wonder if Blackburn could bribe the daft local lad into signing a NDA?

    Arsene Wenger

You have thoroughly missed the point of the opening post. Congratulations. The point being what? He's not won the league for a while so he's a joke? Give over. Any sane Arsenal fan should take some time to reflect and look who we have had managing us in the past 14 years and conclude that, as a smaller club (which they were when AW took over from Rioch), they have amazingly over performed under his reign. I mean f***ing hell - they were playing s**** football, in a s**** stadium and were going nowhere when he took over. It should be absolutely unthinkable that they would want rid of him and he'll never be a 'joke' imho when the achievements his philosophy have resulted in are looked back on. FWIW, they'll bomb when he leaves. Without meaning to sound like a smart arse, this is the point: "Is Wenger now a joke?" The "now" denoting present (not past) tense. And "joke" doesn't mean useless in this context - whilst Wenger has undoubtedly been a top-drawer manager over his career, it appears that his decision-making (no plan B and perplexing substitutions) is becoming increasingly erratic and his failure to win anything of note over the last few years is nothing short of embarrassing given the talent at his fingertips. Plus, his incessant need to blame others for mistakes that are clearly of his own making is cringeworthy. I have been fortunate/unfortunate (depending on how you look at it) enough to attend a good few games at Emirates Stadium over the last few years and many fans (if not all) are disillusioned with Wenger's style of play. Sure, they play like Barca week-in, week-out, but whereas Barca have a killer instinct, Arsenal don't. Chelsea have had a sub-par season by their lofty standards but they've managed to overcome the odds, given their patchy start to the season, and fight their way back into contention. Over the last few months of the last couple of seasons, Arsenal have lacked backbone and discipline when it counts. The blame for this can only be attributed to the manager. The Mourinhos of this world (which, unfortunately, includes Wenger's similarly testicle-faced nemesis, Harry Redknapp) galvanise their players and give them an other-wordly "us against them" attitude and instill a siege mentality. Wenger repeatedly allows his supposed talisman, Fabregas, to undermine him publicly (albeit indirectly) through the questioning of the club's transfer policy. Unless Wenger pulls a whopping great rabbit out of the hat sometime soon, it'll be another case of "all skill, no success." And that is why he has been a joke this season. And, believe it or not, I want to see Arsenal win the league this season, as I have a sneaking suspicion that a few players may jump ship if not and it'd be a shame for the league to lose the likes of Fabregas, Van Persie and (and, who knows, Wilshere). All very short sighted is what I'm saying. Those Arsenal fans (and having an office in London I count a good few as friends) should ask why they have 'talent at his fingertips', why they can enjoy football in a great stadium like the emirates, why they can have a trophy cabinet full after his 14 years of running the club, why they have the most productive academy in europe, why they've enjoyed fabulous football they could only have dreamed of during the previous reigns of Rioch, Stuart whatshisname and George Graham. Not to mention the financial position he has placed them in. Theres no doubt they've underachieved in the closing stages of this season (the loss of Vermaelen has hit them this season for sure) and that they need some players in summer. If I was an Arsenal fan, taking the above into account, I'd say it's better the devil you know and be thankful for his achievements rather than question the guys mentality. Don't forget many were doing the same of Fergie just before he announced his "retirement" and he's gone on to win loads more trophies since.

the team wenger won with wasn't exactly kids. These days it all about paying kids tons of money, and failing season after season. It wasn't all kids no, but in the squad were:- - Eboue - Flamini - Hoyte - Fabregas - Clichy - Ashley Cole - Djourou - Seb Larsson - Pennant - Lupoli - Reyes - Senderos - Kolo Toure All of whom were pretty inexperienced at the time.

If Wenger's a joke what does that make make Alan Pardew? Pardew's been a manager in English football for 11 years and achieved the sum total of fuck all. Wenger has been a manager in English football for 14 year and has won the league three times and the f.a cup four times all the while playing fantastic football and making a net profit. Absolutely unbelievable. If I was taken back ten years in a time machine and given the choice of manager I'd always opt for Wenger who would guarantee great football, develop the entire club and leave us financially sound.
  14. Of course we need him, he'll be cheap.
  15. Yep - looks that way. Looking forward to seeing him play.
  16. But doesn't that just mean that they were all brilliant buys? I suppose the answer to that question depends up who you're asking it to. NUFC Manager - probably not. Well, not for now, no. NUFC Owner - absolutely.
  17. there are two schools of thought amongst NUFC fans, one as posted above by wallace and the other that says mike ashley is the devil incarnate and he is somehow syphoning off any transfer profits into his own pocket. I'm probably in the middle somewhere then because I think he's trying to turn the club around financially with a view to selling it. I can see the business sense completely in the model he will use. Footballs not exactly a regular business though and he needs to be careful not to fuck off his consumers.
  18. Well that and what were his intentions of buying Ben Arfa when he was injured, loaning a headfuck at minimal cost and securing Tiote by giving him more money. Why would he offer someone significantly more money for an extra years commitment? Protecting his value (Tiote) Grabbing a bargain (Ben Arfa & possibly Ireland) Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the principles of the model, more the fact the club aren't just up front about it. We are a feeder club now and the kids he'll buy in the summer, if they prove themselves by Xmas will be wrapped up in long term deals in order to sell to the highest bidder come next summer. All good as long as Carr isn't hit by a bus, the team morale doesn't dive bomb a la relegation year (hence Nolan imho) and the fans don't stop turning up. My understanding is that Liverpool were sniffing around Ben Arfa so the club decide to push the deal through early rather than wait until the end of the season and risk losing him. Since they had agreed such a good price for him, once Ben Arfa signed that contract, they can almost certainly sell him for an immediate profit. I know he has a lot to prove after the injury but even now before he has played again, they would easily get more than £5m for him. I'm sure they would get north of £5m for him, north of £1.5m for Simpson, north of £3.5m for Tiote etc etc. There is a rational that goes into every buy now and it's not what they can bring to the team more what they can bring into the clubs coffers. See Gosling, Ireland and Ben Arfa imho.

  20. The club is still not self-sufficient. I would imagine he's lowering the wage bill, whilst generating additional capital through sales to stop having to shore the club up personally. When we get to that point perhaps he can move us forward or sell us. On the question of whether I would have the done the same (money from my own pocket) I wouldn't have bought the club in the first place tbh. How will the squad gradually improve when constant turnover of top players? Surely, eventually, something has to give?
  21. It is naivety like. Tiote, Ben Arfa and Simpson are perfect examples of the Ashley way. Buy a player with potential for relatively low figure. See how the player performs. If well, protect the asset. Await big bid, reply by stating the asset is on a long term contract and only silly money will be accepted. Accept larger offer. There's no point in anybody getting particularly fond of a star player because they'll be off within a couple of years for more than they were bought for. The policy is a very good model - just not without it's risks - the key one being morale imho. Hence the talks with Nolan. Pardew will be arguing for a core of players to be here for the long term to ensure morale is ok and Nolan is key to this. Nolan is the perfect Ashley player. Will score enough goals to help secure safety in the premier but still relatively cheap because no big club will want him. Not sure I agree with that tbh. He'll be at the top of the salary range and have little resale value. His value comes in keeping a squad together, morale ok etc. Compare his captaincy to say Owens. He'll be the hit Ashley is taking to keep rotating bodies in the squad to make some money.................collateral damage if you like.

  23. Do you know what the Liverpool owners have planned for the next two years? I'd say having signed our most promising home grown talent in 25 years + targetted the best left back we've had in the same period they're showing more ambition than most - if they can add a few more squad players to their core next year they will be Champions League contenders. You're arguing like we will fail in everything, whilst liverpool will succeed with everything. Carroll and Suarez will succeed period, We'll only buy rubbish attackers. Enrique will play well in Lpool (he will not have the same defensive support in Jonas) And we're not capable of finding a good replacement. Listen to your negative self For all we know, Suarez may be rubbish next season (in Holland he got a reputation of only scoring against the weaker teams), Carroll might have problems with his attitudes, maybe he's seriously injured.. Or what will happen if the widemen Lpool buy fail to give Carroll the balls he like? There are so many contingencies that can occur and go wrong. Sadly many of you think that all the errors will happen to us and not toth Lpool. Have some faith will you It's not a question of faith. Of course, there will be errors/issues affecting both clubs but by next September I'd be more assured as a Liverpool fan that they will have a better placed squad to deal with them than we will. They are buying proven quality for now and we'll be taking chances on kids whose value will go up. All good if you have Arsene Wenger, don't make too many fuck ups in selecting the kids and don't ever get relegated again.
  24. You're not just replacing a left back though, you're taking away 25% of one of the most robust defenses we've had in eons. Not to mention hwo much he makes up for Jonas' inconsistency. You could get lucky in signing a flying winger who would be an alternative to Barton. If we don't sign a very, very strong left back to replace Enrique we'll be shipping goals down that side next season and probably be less of an attacking threat with Jonas on the pitch.
