Do you think? I think most fans would say the most important thing was better-quality signings. Considering we don't really have any quality players, it wasn't important to keep hold of any of them. We literally could have afforded to let any one of our players go, if we where willing to spend the money, quality players would have come in.

Just since Rafa arrived, we seem to be quite good at filling gaps in the squad and there seems to be less randomness about our transfer policy. Of course it's possible Ashley is in one of his kamikaze phases, but I think it's more likely that if Gayle goes it's so we can sign someone else. Up until this summer I would have agreed, but the last few weeks suggest it's a matter of time before Ashley really messes up again, and this seems like the perfect opportunity.

People saying they can't believe we would sell without getting a replacement, surely it's the opposite. With everything that has happened under Ashley, how can you believe we wouldn't? With everything happening with Rafa and him, this would be an ideal opportunity to get him to walk away.
