  1. Shittu signs for Bolton.

again, bolton are going to struggle badly next season, a team full of championship or overrated players

They will be bottom half by the end of the season, but I don't think they will ever be in a relegationfight. They have an unbelievable physical squad now, and I think they will cause some upsets this season with their style of play. Shittu seems like a player who would compliment talented Cahill. Good business for Bolton I reckon.

  2. I agree with alpal here. He will become a good player again if given the opportunity. A true 15-goal a season pitbull in the making. Him and Yakubu up front would destroy the PL.

  3. This might sound stupid, but im about to pay for one month suscription: On the payment page, it says

Subscription Package: Monthly Direct Debit of GBP 3.99 for access to Newcastle TV

    First Payment Date: Sat 16-Aug-2008

Does this mean that this is a rolling payment - as in that I will have to pay 3,99 each month until I cancel the suscription?

I only want to use it to see the pre-season games coming up, after that I have no use for it.

  4. Shola is huge.. and he doesn't seem to stop growing

It'd be nice if somebody can dig out a pic of him from when he was first breaking into the 1st team.. I remember him as a skinny, normally built lad back then.. I wonder what are we feeding him

  5. Apparently Arshavin is now "desperate" to move to Tottenham. He must have a weak heart being so desperate all the time.

Lachter admits that Arshavin was not that keen on Spurs when their interest first transpired but he is now just waiting to seal the move.

Arshavin has always said he would prefer to join Barcelona, but Lachter admits that his charge was won over by Spurs and particularly coach Juande Ramos.

"Andrei is ready to move to Tottenham, now it just depends on Zenit," Lachter told Sovietsky Sport.

"Arshavin changed his decision [about joining Spurs] due to excellent interest from Spurs.

"They are the one team that fully agreed his contract demands and ready to pay almost the full price that Zenit wants.

"Juande Ramos called Andrei and described his vision of football and his vision of Andrei's future in the team.

"Ramos said that Arshavin will be a key player of his team and he is highly interested in this deal.

"Spurs had the money for Andrei all the time and their interest isn't new. But Zenit doesn't want to say that they have official offer from Tottenham. But they have it."

Reports in Russia suggest Zenit want to keep Arshavin for the European Super Cup clash with Manchester United on August 29 in Monaco.

But Lachter says Arshavin does not want the deal to be delayed until the end of the month.

"I don't think the deal can be delayed until the Super Cup against Manchester United because I'm unsure that today's Arshavin can be useful for Zenit.

"I hope that Zenit will collect themselves. I know the high level of professionalism of Zenit's new president [Alexander] Dukov and his great personality."

Zenit sporting director Konstantin Sarsaniya admits that an agreement could be close to being finalised with Spurs.

"We have certain contacts with Tottenham, but when they will conclude, I still do not know," Sarsaniya told Sports.ru.

"Maybe within five days, maybe sooner, maybe later.

"Tottenham have an interest in the player, and I understand that the player has an interest in the club too."

  6. My Englishknowledge strikes once again :)

When im saying fitting in with the teammates, I maybe should have said If a player is good, he will make it no matter where he plays as long as he fits in with the team, and the way they play, if that makes more sense to you GeJon.

  7. Screw PL experience. I think it's a load of bullshit. If a player is good, he will make it no matter where he plays as long as he fits in with his teammates.

Choosing PL experience instead of potentially better players is a route I really don't like. I think it's a cowards way. It's safe, you know what you get (even though that might not be good enough), and you pay way over the odds. Let's get some exciting players in. Some may not make it, but there will be players who do, and that is worth much more than all of the average Joe's that we call Crouch, Kapo, Riise etc.

  8. "John Arne Riise is ready to snub a move to Newcastle for the lure of Champions League football next season with Schalke emerging as favourites to sign him. (News of the World)"
