  1. I really don't get this hatred of Poyet. Fair enough if you think he's too inexperienced for the job. But if people are going to hate someone from day one on the basis of the identity of their friends, or the fact that they scored against us nine years ago, or because they played for a rival club, then it is just going to make things more difficult for everyone. All that matters is the individual's ability to manage NUFC. He scored a goal that gave Chelsea a FA cup final spot they barely desvered at our expense, that's goodenough for me But seriously the bloke would be about as out of his depth as Roeder was. And what about poor spurs, Ramos would have to learn English, how fair is that ?
  2. I'm not so sure Dave, I think Hughton will pick the team and be in control of this one whatever the situation.
  3. Wheres Osama bin Laden? Him or Shearer for me If I was putting money on it I would say Ashley will be hell bent on getting Shearer, not sure he'll want to come though to work under the structure. My own choice would be Moyes, he could be poached, I'm sure but again he'll find it hard to work under the conditions our owner has install. Someone else may need to be sacrificed to show prospective managers that it's still a reasonablily acttractive job at the moment it's tarnished.
  4. Yeah just checked that myself, but apparently you can win tickets for matches through Barclays and they are now showing live football at Sheaers bar !
  5. Very rarely does the early favourite get the job. Absolute suicide by Ashley to appoint him and Wise, and he's not stupid enough not to know that.
  6. I am completely numb now, awful news, I hoped that they could have all seen sense here and did what's best for NUFC and of course that's KK as manager. What next for the club ? Caretaker likely to be Hughton, can't see them wanting to light the paper and appoint Wise.
  7. f***ing hell Baggio should change his name to the King of Spin.
  8. Absolutely spot on with that point. This whole hatred of Wise, has handed Ashley the perfect scapegoat. But if he's not actually the problem, this is just papering over the cracks.
  9. Wow you're really passionate about that one, aren't you ? haha, aye, i should probably just turn it off tbh. its like crack, you know its poisoning you but you cant stop. I know that feeling man, just can't get enough of that pipe
  10. I can't honestly remember the last time anyone agreed with Karkar. I think it did happen once before, many years ago, Kaka made the point that the weather was nice for this time of year and I think it was Dave who agreed it was, although he had brought a brolly out with him in case it rained
  11. Wow you're really passionate about that one, aren't you ?
  12. Fingers crossed. I'm certainly not part of the Lynch Dennis Wise mob that's sprung up out of this. Since no one knows what actually happened. But if it takes Wise going to get the club back on course with KK as the boss, then I'm all for it.
  13. Wow paragraphs are your friend man, that's so hard to read.
  14. The quality of our reserves is an issue I brought up before in pre season when we opened up with tonkings at Newcastle Benfield and scraped a draw with Gateshead. We have very little in reserve atm, which puts further pressure on our paper thin first team squad.
  15. I have just been reading the bbc Phil McNulty blog thing, hehe, the bloke is incapable of admitting he made a mistake. Anyway although I've seen this so many times before, it never fails to amaze me how much hate we seem to generate from other fans, for our "small and insignificant" club. Everyone seems to want to express their opionion on our deludedly high expectations and find it oh so funny that we think we are a big club. I know it happens all the time but it still surprises me to see how much effort people put in to putting us down. The trouble is the toon fans on boards like 606 are awful at putting up any sort of defence, fustrating as hell, i really should learn not to bother reading it.
  16. That's fine for the fans and the press but KK has to go into more detail with the players themselves. It would be impossible for him not to. For sure, I thought you just meant what they should release to the public. The easy bit is managing the fans here, the more difficult aspect is managing communication to the players, how can he ensure that they all stayed committed and focussed ? He may have to come out with a huge lie. Someone in the set up may have to be made out as the scape goat and sacrificed, can't see anyone volunteering for that role. I think the other way, the fans are much harder to keep happy. They have to make do with press releases and sky sportas news. Keegans easiest win will be to get back on the training ground and get the players back on side. He'll have it sorted in no time. Yeah but the fans aren't going to be kicking a football around the pitch against Hull, it's more important that the players are in the right frame of mind than the fans. As we fans will play off what the players serve us. If KK stays I have the feeling we'll see an almighty effort against Hull, the secret though will be to sustain it, because when things start to go wrong, the events of the last couple of days will come to the surface again.

  19. That's not so easy, the press jumped the gun. They looked bloody stupid for sure. But no one has denied that there hasn't been disagreements between the two parties. In fact this has been confirmed by both club and manager.
  20. I couldn't find a similar type of thread for this, but it there is one please admins combine this or delete it. Assuming KK stays and I have to say I'm pretty confident that he will now, how do we go about cleaning up the mess of the last few days ? What statement goes out to explain what happened to the fans ? Remember it may not be a good idea to tell the truth. What does KK tell the players ? If he was unhappy with certain players coming in, does he tell him ? Probably not. If he was unhappy that Ashley was trying to sell Barton, Owen, Smith or whoever, does he tell the player that the owner of the club doesn't want them ? Hopefully KK will still be our manager but it's one hell of a mess that we have to clear up now and it would appear that there is no easy way to do it
  21. I think most people know where I have been on Ashley. I'm still waiting to be shown some ambition. Having said that, I've never once said he should go and even after today's events I'll not be asking for his head. I just want him and KK to sort out this mess and get back on with running this club. Hopefully this could be a wake up call for all concerned, this episode may be a turning point just as KK's jumping ship was the first time he was here. If KK can not be turn around and we are looking for a new manager then Ashley had better get the appointment right, it won't be easy finding someone, my personal choice would be David Moyes, I think he's had his fill of penny pinching at Everton (although they did splash big at the end) and ready for a move. But that debate's for another day, hopefully a long long long way away.

    Dennis Wise

Do you honestly think people are going to rally round the current regime? Dream on. Some things are a step too far and seeing Dennis Wise as "the face" of Newcastle United is one of those things for me and a lot of other people. I've been as cynical as anyone about Ashley's motives, but if they pull the rabbit out of the hat and get KK to stay, I'll be bloody delighted with them for doing so. My point anyway was that why single out Wise in all this ? It's the whole recruitment team that f***ed up iyam. It's pretty clear that KK wasn't happy with the hand dealt to him but that wasn't the sole fault of Dennis Wise.

    Dennis Wise

I totally agree with the OP, this witch hunt of Wise is crazy and there's no solid evidence to back it up. I hope fans do not take their frustrations out on him at the next game
  24. I don't often agree with what you have to say, but I'm in total agreements with your sentiments, no use taking sides here it would be counter productive in the extreme.
