  1. Obviously Keegan believes we are further forward considering today's comments in comparison to the ones from last week.. Just because we haven't seen anything from it doesn't mean nothings happening. Teasy you and others have been saying the same thing all summer. As Manor pointed out, it's action we need now. The speed of the Milner move to Villa surely shows that transfers can happen quickly these days despite what we arre told to believe, really how much more work needs to be done behind the scenes ?
  2. Where the hell has this come from ? Have I missed a thread or something. I haven't seen any posts questioning KK's managerial expertise. I have and will always be a huge KK fan, I was absouletely delighted when he was rumoured to be interested in taking over (unlike some I could mention), over the moon when he did, stayed with him through the bad times and remain in his corner now. You do realise, that it is possible to question the motives of the club as a whole and still be a KK supporter don't you ? If your talking about what he says in the press, as I've said in another thread, you have to read between the lines with KK. He tells huge porkies but there's usually a reason behind them. That's not questioning KK's ability, that's just using your brain a little !
  3. See, it's obvious that Keegan says what serves the purpose of the moment. Everton was sniffing around Smith - suddenly Smith is a fantastic part of the dressingroom, would never sell him. Same goes for Milner - the last player I'd sell. Blah blah blah. So why do we believe these quotes? Once again, Keegan is just saying what needs to be said. It's equivocal enough that he can back out of it if the signings don't come and it makes him look like the one calling the shots. Gloating, for those so inclined, can wait until Tuesday. I agree with the point that what comes out of KK mouth isn't always the truth, I think we know KK well enough now to be able to read between the lines with a lot of his comments. He's old school, very much so, he'll never publically criticise any of his players, I fail to think of a single incident of him doing so. That obviously doesn't mean that he's totally happy with each of his player's contributions and value to the squad. The recent quotes about transfers from the doom and gloom ones made post Coventry. To the way more up beat ones today suggest progress has been made over the last day or two. KK was using the press IMO to help him press his case with Ashley after the Coventry game, I'm pretty sure he wasn't certain himself whether the signings would happen. These new quotes are designed to alay fans fears with regaurd to the squad size and the recent sale. I hope he believes what he is saying himself, he may not.
  4. LOUDER, than, speak, words, A C T I O N S. (comes to mind) particularly . . . A C T I O N S . . . So why don't you wait until the window is over before you f***ing moan? Give them a chance to act before you start the ridiculously hyperbolic whining. Remember, we just took a point from the Champions of Europe and England in their house two weeks ago. Results matter more than names. What an amazing collection of words. Particular gems include - "give them a chance to act". We should aim to get new players in for pre-season training, not in time for a pre-match cup of tea on the day of the 4th match of the season!!! As for "f***ing moan". It is time you realised that to analyse what is happening and to (simply) not praise-it-all-to-the-high-heavens, but to actually tell the truth . . . is not the same as "f***ing moaning". I know when it comes to football and your own club in particular, it is difficult for some to get real. But, get real. LOL, well put Manor, anyone not buying in completely gets this shit thrown at them all the time on here, good to see someone giving as good as he gets.
  5. Who's the other guy in your Avatar Sicko ? I can't make it out, maybe I need to get my eyes checked. Is it Ginola ?
  6. I don't think I'm too far from the frame of mind tbh Johnny. What the hell is our bench going to be like tomorrow ?
  7. I'm not quite sure what debate is going on here as I've just read the last page. But I didn't vote in the poll because I'm not sure yet, I would have liked us to have secured a replacement before selling him tbh, if there was more than one club interested then we could have held out till Monday. 10 - 12 mill is a great offer for the lad, absolutely no doubt about it, but if we can't get another head in, that money gathering interest in the bank will not help us get 3 points against Blackburn or whoever. KK latest comments give me hope but I don't think we'll know whether this was a good or bad deal until midnight on Monday.
  8. Yeah I was going to pick up on the deadwood comment, of course he's lying through the back of his teeth but he's not going to admit that.
  9. Much more positive than his last quotes. It's always an emotional rollercoaster with KK. However another day goes by and we are still no further forward, in fact we are a step back from where we were. I just hope that the two he's talking about are of the standard and in the positions we are expecting.
  10. Touché. Just thinking about the timescale involved and the fact we seem non too chuffed to be paying Leeds this cut (trying to buy it out etc). We are not still 100% sure, it's Milner that Bates was reffering too, the old board didn't often negioate sell on clauses. I have a feeling it may very well be Lennon, it is the sort of thing Spuds do. As to the question, not sure I rate Benyoun that highly, I would probably take one of there youngsters and pennant. Or don't shoot me here, Kuyt plus a couple of million.
  11. Absolutely I agree with you Dave. Who has done that though? I'll turn that around and ask you, did you not find James's post pathetic, condescending, patronising and with just the hint of soopafan about it ? Because I did. And by the way of course I'm exaggerating about the people's unquestionable support, just trying to point out that you don't have to be a supporter of Ashley to be a fan of NUFC and because you don't buy into to everything is not reason to be called a spoilt brat and have your loyality to the club questioned. I find most of James's posts pathetic, so I just glossed over it. LOL, very good

  13. Absolutely I agree with you Dave.
  14. tbf i think 15 out of 20 premiership clubs would call this transfer window a failure for themselves, so it's not like we are the exception, clubs don't want to sell TBH i don't give a f***ing s*** what the how the other clubs think they have done, I care about what goes at Newcastle. And when we are fielding Alan Smith up front on his own and some reserve kid in the the middle of the park away to Wigan, what portsmouth did in this transfer window will have no relevance. took the words right out of my mouth so ur saying martins, viduka, owen, carroll are all gonna be sold or injured before that situation then injuries happen at all clubs, look at man utd they are still desperate for a striker and they are the best team on the planet and what do you want, another carl cort, luque, viana, boumsong then if u do then f***ing support chelsea or someone that can applease you and your desired trophy signings that you crave for sorry mate, nothing personal. Your comment about ManU shows the desire to remain the best, so why not take your lead from them in terms of the need to keep changing, you can't stand still in this game. Simple truth is, the only striker we have, who is likely to stay fit and perform for about 25 games, is Martins. Owen hopefully will, but his history says he won't. Viduka won't. Carroll is a kid. Ameobi is crap. Smith has not been a success. What is that left ? As for the "trophy signings", I will tell you that its trophies that I want, and for Newcastle to sign the sort of players who win these trophies. If you want to ridiculously label them as "trophy players" then you have a lot to learn, but I suspect that you are just regurgitating the bollocks cliches that are spouted around by other people who's views change like the wind. Having supported this club since 1964, and seen a damn sight worse than this, I'm not going to change now. I suspect people like you would be sorely tested if you had even a slight taste of real mediocrity, if you really think you have seen it at this club in the last decade and a half. Having seen such s**** (which it undoubtedly was) I'm surprised you have now turned into a prawn sandwich eating Man U - type supporter demanding we compete with said club without any of their resources or wealth. I always knew that NUFC were one of the biggest clubs in the country. I recognised from an early age that McKeag, Westwood etc were the biggest bunch of arseholes going. Lord Westwood actually said once that if Brian Clough became manager of Newcastle he would resign from the board. And the other tit said - as proudly as he could - that the new Milburn stand was "like Watfords", having been financed largely with the money from selling Peter Beardsley. The difference back then was that it was 100 times more frustrating. And seriously, football was also a different beast to nowadays. I'm sure you've been told that standing in those stadiums etc was a completely different experience to now. One thing about being an NUFC fan was that you knew you were being let down but just grew to accept complete failure throught gritted teeth. One or two people on here won't acknowledge this. Whatever. That's all well and good but doesn't answer the question: how are we meant to compete with the likes of Man U and Chelsea for big name signings without their revenue streams, international status etc? Without regular CL revenue how do we pay for these trophy signings? There is only two ways... put the club back in to £80m of debt or hope that Ashley will spend more of his own cash. Given how much Ashley has spent so far, especially with clearing the debt, I can't see this happening. West Ham seem to be suffering from the silly buys and silly wages syndrome. The fact that Lucas Neil and Craig Bellamy are picking up £70k a week while Curbishley is fighting for his job speaks volumes. We don't need to spend 80 million though, a modest expenditure of 20 mill or so would probably be enough to fill in the bare minimum 2 holes in the squad. Any money made from the Milner sale should also be reinvested in a adequate replacement. That would put our net spend for the summer at around 25 million, which for a club of our size is not too extravagant Totally agree with this, but don't you think the club are trying and that they still may achieve this before the transfer window? I'm positive they are trying. It's the budgets they are working within that I have my doubts. you know the budget? please tell us what it is and how you know. Nope that's why I said I had "doubts" and not "because I'm certain they have no money ZOMG !!!"
  15. FYP Come on James that's just pathetic, everyone (except our guest from other clubs) here supports the club. Don't confuse lack of unquestionable support for Mike Ashley to lack of support for the club. The two entities are not the same.

Tron, I'm not as old of NE5, thank god , however I have experienced what he's going on about. Honestly in the 80's it was awful, I remember being somewhat relieved when we yoyoed down to the old Div 2, because at least we would win more games than loose. We were awful and we were run by the most incompetent, unambitious group of old men you could think of. They were kind of like the committee at a social club. It was horrible and when SJH and KK came in and swept the old regime away, it was amazing. The fact the we accepted the s*** we got from the previous regime for so very long, I think made some supporters more resolved to not let it happened again.
  20. Is it snap or bite, I think you are probably right, bite really doesn't make much sense does it ?
  21. OK I like Milner and I'm hugely concerned at the lack of numbers but bite their fucking hands off, if we can get someone else in fast enough to replace the head.
  22. 1. No I haven't, stop being so negative people and nit picky is my message, that and to wait and see. 2. We are not alone in this and while it isn't ideal, I'm sure we're doing and have done our best to rectify this. Anyone can go and bring in lots of players and spend lots of money but the only real way to improve the quality of the first-team is to buy players to displace those already in it. We've signed 3 such players thus far which has strengthened that first-team and indeed the squad, but of course we need more, but these players are hard to buy, look around you, quality just isn't readily available, seemingly even to those with money to spend. 3. Man Utd couldn't sustain a title challenge if they were hit with injuries and suspensions, like Arsenal couldn't last season. Again we are not alone in this. If our aim was to finish in the top 4 then I'd be worried, our aim should be top 8 and we should have enough. Everton and Villa with one of the smallest squads finished in the top 6 last season. 4. Didums. I WANT I WANT I WANT. Define quality btw because I guarantee Bassong, Jonas and Guthrie were not considered quality buys at first. I'd happily settle for another couple just like them. 1. Nit picking a fundamental point in your post, I must have missed you whine at the impatient I WANT I WANT I WANT football fans then. OK whatever 2. Like I said in the post above, I couldn't give a rat's arse what other teams have or have not done. There are two huge holes in our first team, a creative midfielder and a Striker who can stay fit and who can be relied upon to put up a reasonable standard of performances. Since we don't have a creative midfielder finding someone better shouldn't be too hard, neither is finding a striker we can rely upon, we are not asking for a Drogba, Rooney or Tevez here just a decent standard. 3. We have an appalling record on injuries, our three strikers are not exactly known for there durability. Injuries are much more likely to happen to us because of the players we have. We also have a huge drop off in quality from the first 11 our reserves are gash tbh, there is practically zero competition in the squad, even when everyone is fit. Keep telling yourself that well club xyz didn't strengthen either (which is actually baloney but I can't be bothered to go into that right now) so we'll be fine. 4. Fucking hell grow up a little will you. Is that really the best you can do ? I'm not being impatient, I'm not demanding success. I just want to see more investment in the first team as we could be on the cusp of something great here but failing to act now could very well mean we miss our opportunity again. I'm completely clueless how your point about Bassong, Jonas and Guthrie bears any relevance to my point.
  23. tbf i think 15 out of 20 premiership clubs would call this transfer window a failure for themselves, so it's not like we are the exception, clubs don't want to sell TBH i don't give a fucking shit what the how the other clubs think they have done, I care about what goes at Newcastle. And when we are fielding Alan Smith up front on his own and some reserve kid in the the middle of the park away to Wigan, what portsmouth did in this transfer window will have no relevance.
  24. Almost all his colleagues on at least double his money? Isn't hyperbole brilliant? It's also considered tapping up if he's been offered a wage at another club, if he has any evidence of this he should present it to the FA, and we'll take Villa or Liverpool or whoever to the cleaners. He obviously works in the payrool department at SJP and has never heard of the data protection act to be privvy to all this salary information. Fair enough. Taping up no longer happens in football and the first team are all on £20k a week You're right. So come on then back up what you've posted with some hard evidence then. Or is it just conjecture on your part ?
  25. I know crumpy's post are sometimes a little left field but I have no clue what this is all about.
