McGeady has been a hell of a signing for them for peanuts, tbf. Where would they be without him ?
  2. Not looking likely at all, Palace been easily the better team from the parts of the game I've seen. Zaha just gone off which will hurt them a little, since he's been outstanding. Wow Paddy Van just missed a sitter. Chelsea have been terrible.
  3. Been watching most of the Palace Chelsea game. Gotta say impressed with Palace, that's gonna be a much tougher game for us than it was a few weeks back.
  4. That is great news, was an absolute no brainer, but you still worry about things like this with our owner.
  5. I hate Kraft and his cheating team with a passion but if he's interested in buying a PL team, we could do far worse as an owner based on what he's done with the Cheatriots. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/41592525
  6. Not a surprise, Moyes up next probably.
  7. That's where the smart money would be. It would be fantastic but lets face it, highly unlikely. If we ever were to be taken over it'll be by someone who just comes in one day doesn't care too much about the price and it's all done and dusted in a few days. Just like when Ashley himself took us over. Just hope this isn't still hanging around in January and effects our spending in that window, because we clearly have some holes to plug.
  8. He's been given enough chances tbh, there was a time when he should have grasped his opportunity to be first choice left back after Santon was sold, he let Paul Dummett leapfrog over him, he's looked poor almost everytime he's been given a run out since McManamackem tried to kill him.
  9. Beeb's summary of game from the last time we met: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/35949247 I've wiped it from my memory, but now recall Pelle had a blinder that day and we saw Steven Taylor doing an impression of a PL defender very badly. Neither of course will play on Sunday, so that's a good thing I guess.
  10. I'm a mix of English and Spanish but live in Canada and I am a citizen so frankly I'm embarrassed by the national team's lack of success in qualifying for any World Cups during my time here, shocking really , in theory Mexico, the US and Canada should be making the finals every time considering the populations, facilities and competition. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I first came to Canada by how great the facilities are here, in Calgary we have multiple youth teams kids can join, there are a number of full size pitches with goalposts in every community (hell when I grew up in Newcastle the only time I ever got to play with real goalposts was when I turned out for the school team). I've got my kids into excellent "soccer" (still hate that term) programs, and when they reach adulthood there is a well organised league association I used to play in when I first got here. The parents are also trying to push their kids more towards "soccer" than Ice Hockey (which is hugely expensive) and Canadian/American Football which is too violent for a lot of them. There is also an infinite amount football shown live on TV here. It's strange how all this has still resulted in a frankly pathetic men's national team. Shame about the US not qualifying tbh, much prefer them to have made it than Argentina (i know it wasn't a straight fight between the two). But nice to see the smaller nations like Panama have their time in the light, hopefully they can spring a surprise or two at the finals (as long as it's not at England's expense, we've had enough embarrassing moments over the last few years).
  11. It's a tough one to call really. We need to perform better than we did in our last away game at Brighton. Southampton this season shouldn't scare anyone, but they are still a step up from the teams we've played away from home this season. Expecting a narrow loss but hoping we can put in the same performance and get the same result as we did against Swansea.
  12. Wish that was a realistic option but with this owner, not something you would want to gamble on.
  13. TBF if they were Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I would throw them back in his face and he can stick the kebab to ffs. Having said that totally agree, it's easy to forget how young he his and there is greater potential there than we have with either of the other two.
  14. I don't think there is any precedent for it, and if the total sum of 1.9 million is correct then I doubt the FA would do anything, seems like a legal issue that had no bearing on the integrity of the game but I'm biased and so too are the FA generally against us, so who knows.
  15. I was all for a new stadium when it was last aired before the "friends of Leazes Park" put an end to our very own San Siro. I now do see the importance of our City Centre location, but since we fill what we have now after 2 relegation in 6 years, if the place ever took off and we actually were in the frame to win something, you could imagine the demand and we would absolutely need a bigger ground. Since redeveloping SJP to increase capacity is not feasible or probably even possible, then moving would be the only solution. The ideal scenario would be to mimic what Spuds have done and rebuild the stadium on the same site (or close by), but we don't have the luxury of being able to lease the national stadium for a year while we rebuild.

Yeap, also don't think he's massively bothered about them as he hardly gets a game for them under Strachan. That's freakin weird when you look at the quality of the players they have, most of them are bit part champo players.

Why isn't Ritchie playing for Scotland, injured ?

First place qualifies and 2nd in the playoffs, right ?

It used to be the best job in football, now Gareth Bloody Southgate has it, he has no right to it based on his CV, mind you when the two previous incumbents never won anything either in their club roles, guess it's hardly surprising.

I've no love for the eye-liner wearing freak after his assault on LeJuene, but we need him to show his club form for his country, if we are going to do anything once we get to the finals.

12:57 Shelvey the answer? England 0-0 Slovenia Chris Waddle Ex-Spurs and England winger on 5 live Sport at Wembley Is Jack Wilshere the player for that central midfield position? I don't think so. He is another attacking player like Adam Lallana for me. Personally the best England have in that position, and people might shoot me down for this, is Jonjo Shelvey. But for one reason or another he does not seem to make the squad.
  22. A bit over the top as usual, but we should be one of the most attractive clubs in the world to buy. Not only unique in being a one club city, but we stand apart from most of the other clubs in England in both geography and passion for the game which has to be a massive factor. It would be for British buyers anyway, my only worry is whether foreign buyers would realise it. Someone like Stavely would be crucial in conveying this. You see nothing clubs like Crystal Palace and QPR getting bought up and you wonder whether the owners think just because they are in London that somehow gives them extra value? Its not over the top like. We are already in the top 20 of world club's and that's with Ashley as owner. We have one of the best manager's in the world in charge, one of the biggest stadiums, a huge huge fan base and a pretty decent foreign following. There is not a club on earth that could achieve what we could with major investment, not a club that isn't already an established power base or elite club anyway. The only aspect I would agree with the over the top remark, is that it's still written from a NUFC fan perspective, the Mackems would mock and ridicule you for what you wrote, that doesn't mean they are right and you are wrong but the cries of delusion would be deafening. I think just adding the word "untapped" fixes most things with your post because you are absolutely right, if I were a mega rich individual looking for a PL club to "play" with, NUFC ticks pretty much all the boxes for clubs outside the top 6. Single club city, huge fan base, history, external debt free, excellent manager, young playing staff, great stadium (although the lack of potential expansion possibilities would be a small concern) and many many other things.
  23. You know they are all trained to deflect questions of this nature that are not related to the game, he does that but it is true he's a little more uncomfortable talking about it for whatever reason, he fidgets around and it's really out of character with the calm demeanor he portrays throughout the rest of the interview. Obviously we are clutching at straws and reading way too much into everything revolving around this right now
  24. What I keep coming back to is why she was clearly not hiding from the cameras, why they wanted her picture taken at the game. There's two reasons for that in my mind, one could be that there is nothing in this at all, the other is that things have progressed to the point where genuine progress has been made. If it were early stages like these articles appear to be saying then you hide her away in a exec box out of the gaze of the camera lens, to me at least the early stages are delicate in these kinds of things you don't want to rock the boat. I can't see her being used as a pawn to flush other serious bids out either.
  25. I sat in there for the cup game against Wimbledon that year, that might have been there year they went on to win it. We were terrible that day, don't remember much more about the game.
