Not so sure, they are running out of options and so is he, it might be a good fit for both parties. Just hope they get the Pardew post 18 months at any job or the one at Charlton as opposed to his usual form.

    Graham Carr

He did a great job in finding some good bargains, hell we paid 2 million or so for Sissoko and sold him for 30. 4 or 5 for Cabaye and sold him for 20 million. Hell even some of the ones that failed like Thauvin, Cabella, Mwbia etc, were more a case of being poorly managed than anything else. The one aspect I didn't like about him was the part he played in bringing McClaren to the club, it was clearly his recommendation, his friend and it cost us our PL status.

Didn't he say he would find it hard to manage them, don't like his regular knack of getting off to a good start though.
  4. 5 million seems an absolute bargain, hell even the 8 million Man City rate him at seems like a no brainer.
  5. Will Hughes on his way to Watford, according to the Torygraph, for 8 million. Always thought he would end up with us, the fee looks pretty reasonable wonder if Derby have given up on him ever developing ? http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/gossip
  6. Yep, it's been a long while for Palace in particular.
  7. The point he makes about it not just about finding the 400 million to buy the club but also putting in place the kind of money they would need to make the club competitive puts it out of reach for most potential buyers. I don't think anything will come of these negotiations, lets hope though that the uncertainty does not effect the recruitment process and consequentially piss off Rafa.
  8. Moving to Celtic for him would be stupid in the extreme, especially if they get knocked out of the CL before the group stages again.
  9. Can't say I'm overly bothered, there is a better striker at Chelsea I would be more interested in. Still an unproven quantity at PL level, Patrick Bamford was this last Chelsea kid to tear up the champ, didn't pull up too many trees last season in the big league. Would have been happy if he had signed, but not shedding too many tears now it looks like he's not.
  10. The biggest hurdle is the rule that they are not allowed to broadcast a live game on TV at 3pm on a Saturday. They've been doing their best over the years to move games around the weekend to get around this rule but the clubs will start kicking back if their matchday income is affected. In the US where all major sports are aired live most of the time, they have blackout rules which mean that should the game not sell out, it will not be aired on live TV in the local market, that could be something they implement but it would be difficult for some clubs to accept.

They had a net debt of 110 million in 2016, not sure how much is owed to the owner and how much to the bank. If Short is selling the club for 90 million and expecting all his loans repaid then it's 200 million for a champ club, with pathetic revenue, high wage bill, unfit for purpose squad and of course no manager. It's a rotten deal and no one should touch it. I doubt these rich fans have that sort of wedge, let alone access to the funds that they will need to operate the club. Whoever buys it the fans will need to hope they either strike it lucky with a crazy billionaire or more realistically Short decides it more trouble than it's worth and sells it for 40 - 50 million and wipes out his loans. Other than that their best hope maybe that Short has a change of heart and says "fuck it, I'm going to fund a big spending spree to get back up, then sell up when I get to the promised land", not likely to happen especially since he's been trying to sell the pile of crap for a while now without success.
  12. We look terrible at the back though.
  13. Who they playing? Slovakia, almost 2-1 to us there.
  14. He's looked woeful so far at half time in this game.
  15. Look at who we have for managers of the two most important England teams, Southgate and Boothroyd, ffs no wonder this is so typical an England performance.
  16. Bit harsh. It was a great header from that position. Not saying he should have saved it but he was no where near it. Wasn't that much power on it, he was very slow at reacting. He's not a 30 million keeper, Everton will soon find that out.
  17. Think Pickford should be doing better there.
  18. He would have signed for us by now, if his heart was in it. Time to move on me thinks.
  19. Listening to le tiss on Ssn, ffs if that had been us sacking a manager who finished 8th and made a cup final the calls for delusional would have been deafening. But it seems fine for them.

I didn't think there was a market for them to get the 30 million they were after. I was shocked that they got it and got it so easily and early in the window. That's hugely important for them because now they have time to re-invest that money. They still need to shift a bunch of other players if they are going to have enough cash to rebuild what is a wretched squad. If they get their manager sorted out though in the next few days, they will have given themselves a chance to be successful next season. There's definitely hope there now, where there was little before the start of this week.

The days keep ticking by and still no manager, nice.
  22. Like him a lot, is it for number 10 or CM?
