Yup. After watching Pope the other day, I'm glad to have this option. Was worried we'd just go with the same pair again this season after Trafford joined Man City.

The Arsenal couldn't replace him quick enough narrative just isn't true. In fact there was a fair bit of criticism about the move when it happened as he had done well for them in his two years there. Arteta had always wanted Raya even prior to signing Ramsdale though and so made a move to get him when it was possible to. https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/39019090/david-raya-clearly-now-arsenal-no-1-aaron-ramsdale-go

Dubravka is absolutely not better than him, but don't let me get in the way of another NO meltdown session!
-
It's pretty much how I anticipate this playing out. Even if Ramsdale does well and stays, Pope will still be leaving next summer, and a more long term option will then be coming in I imagine.

Mentioned this in the match thread. Saw it coming from a mile away. I was ready for it. We just couldn't be going with Pope and Dubravka again this season, and looks like they will need to go out and look at other options in the market again after missing out on Trafford. A loan with an option is a very fair deal and so we can go out and scout other options and review at the end of the season. If he comes in and does really well and hits the level he did during his first season at Arsenal, then we keep him.

Waiting around for them to get a replacement seems a bit mad, as we would have no control over that. We'd have to also be exploring other options, which appears to be the case.

Saw an article that was saying Chelsea are basing their value off of the Ekitike deal. When you actually pull up their data, which all of these clubs use, the two are not too dissimilar, with Ekitike playing in the Bundesliga and Jackson in the Premier League. Jackson is seen as a poor finisher but Ekitike underperformed his expected goals to a greater degree in a "lesser" league.

Talk of their valuation being £50m for Wissa is understood to be inaccurate. It is not price that is holding up any particular deal but rather the issue of not being prepared to weaken their squad so significantly by allowing Wissa to go without an adequate replacement in the building. Wissa, who is desperate to move to Newcastle and play Champions League, is not currently training with the Brentford first team and is understood to be unhappy at the deal having stalled. But negotiations have been cordial and it’s understood that Newcastle’s valuation is considered fair which leaves the door open to a deal if Brentford believe they have replacement options that will shore up their forward line ahead of the Premier League campaign.

The way thinks have been kicking off on here I'm not sure many people are going to make it

Just for a bit of perspective. The transfer window is open for 11 weeks. As from today there are 5 weeks of the window left, and so we've just gone past the mid point.

We can't be doing this in a Champions League season. Would be pretty negligent IMO. Osula should be third choice striker and used against weaker opposition in the cups, as well as in any instances where either of the first two are out injured, when he can then be first sub for the position.

This is beyond weird now. It's just not adding up. Liverpool have been way too passive in this whole pursuit and I'm not convinced they are actively trying to sign Isak. I think his agent has initiated it all and approached Liverpool to try to to get him over there, and Liverpool will consider doing the deal only if we are looking to move him on and will take their £120 million offer. Liverpool are seemingly not pushing for this at all and still have not bid, which is typically the most aggressive form of interest. Even with Isak kicking up a fuss and not going on tour they still haven't tried to apply further pressure with a bid. Yet every hour of everyday these social media mouthpieces are constantly spouting the same nonsense to keep this in the news cycle about Isak wanting Liverpool. This has to be his agent. The goal is likely to have the fans turn on him, and also weaken the clubs resolve until they give in and decide to get rid of him and inform Liverpool they will take their offer. I don't think the club is going to go for this at all. They won't be looking for someone to give him away to for any kind of reasonable fee, just because all of this noise is being made. Maybe I'm wrong, but something is really weird about all of this. I'm not convinced at all of Liverpool's supposed intent to get a deal done . Lets see if a bid comes in this week like we keep being told will happen.

It's frustrating, but if we get there in the end I guess that's the most important thing.

If Sesko doesn't work out we should seriously consider going for Romulo, especially if we're going to have Isak or Wissa with their Premier League experience in place too. He's got a similar profile to Sesko, and the fact Leipzig are in for him is a good sign, we shouldn't be waiting for him to do well at Leipzig and everyone is sniffing around, as we just don't have that luxury at the minute. He's only going to cost around £20 million from Goztepe, and that would be another huge plus as it will allow for a lot of wiggle room financially. We'll be able to offer more than Leipzig can, and so can play the big bad bully for once.

It should do. Just have to hope any targets aren't online looking into the fans of the club and how they speak on their own club. Might improve the clubs chances!
-
Beginning to think some of these players may not be as familiar with Newcastle United and so go on social media and forums to learn more and see endless posts about how poorly run the club is, how the club can't sign players, how players will inevitably go elsewhere etc etc etc and so they opt out immediately!

Ashby looks like he should have done better on all these loans he's been on. -

Vinny man, it's not worth it. Just have to let them keep on. No point replying to those sort of posts. -
