People have forgotten just how piss poor Colo was when we got relegated, at one point Taylor was the only player who was giving us a fighting chance against going down, Willo has been decent indeed but he's not by any means proved in the EPL, just because we've beaten Villa 6-0 dosn't mean their going to keep doing this all season, Sol Campbell is 35 and i still not match fit, so i'd pretty much rather have our one proven premier league center back than any of those 3.

All Taylor has proven is that he is distinctly average.

He's our best center back by miles..problem is its pretty stupid to ask for that amount of money when you've been injured throughout last season and didn't play anything in this one.

How do you watch a game of football and conclude that Steven Taylor is our best defender by a mile? I seriously don't get that at all. If anything, he should be played at right back, which won't happen.

Williamson, Coloccini and Campbell are all central defenders I would put in the team ahead of Taylor, and therefore what is the point in signing him up to a new deal? Sell.

Ben Arfa might be an option for Liverpool if they sell Kuyt to Inter Milan I would imagine, otherwise can't quite see it.

Taylor has become quite injury prone. He can also no longer command a first team place due to the performances of Williamson and Coloccini who are both better defenders. We also have Sol Campbell. The likes of Mancienne/Boyata are also available and are more suited to a developmental/backup position and will have lower wage demands. Good decision to let him leave now.

If Tottenham succeed in going through tomorrow and they go on to sign all these top players they're supposedly after, then we should really try and see if we can get Giovanni Dos Santos off them. Dos Santos shares similar qualities and would be a really good alternative.

I think Shola's problem is really just a lack of motivation. He's a bit s*** yeah but I think he hasn't improved from 21 onwards because he's just had things too easy and hasn't been arsed to improve himself.

 

He might've actually turned out to be a better player if we'd got rid of him when we was younger... as we should have done.

Or at least loaned him out!

West Ham United opted out of a loan deal for Manchester City starlet Felipe Caicedo, not because of an administrative error, but because they are hoping to secure an alternative player. Unlikely city will be letting him go, more likely we are after santa cruz and boyata. Not really sure what the latter would bring to us. He is supposedly very talented, but we don't need another CB. Kadar will be back and campbell fit over the next couple of weeks.

Yeah, I think that was when he had just been brought in, and he was subsequently given the number 10 jersey. I was thiking at the time we might play him through the centre, probably would have if Pancrate was a bit better.

Anyone reckon N'gog would be worth enquiring about on loan. liverpool would obviously need to bring another striker in but with Cole and Jovanovic there now I reckon he'd be available. I think he's just what we need up there and would get 10 goals imo.

Haven't seen too much of him, but recall him being more of a poacher type I think. Might work with Carroll?

Agree, I think there is some talent there, and I like Hughton's ability to instill confidence and belief in younger players. Either Caicedo or Jo for me too. There is no life left in Santa Cruz's body.

I thought Hodgson would also cease with this Kuyt on the right stuff too. He's done okay there the last few seasons but it's just not good enough. Inter apprently want him, so send him to Rafa and get a real right sided attacking player.

Babel's just done more than N'Gog already.

Liverpool's squad is not good at all.  No team whose second choice striker is David N'Gog is going to do anything.

 

With Mascherano wanting out and Torres' confidence incredibly low, they're effictively a one man team right now and Gerrard can't do it all.  They'll get nowhere near top 4 this season and if they're not careful, could get left well behind.

The N'Gog thing is just so forced though. No matter what anyone says about Babel he is a better option at striker than N'Gog for sure. Hodgson could have even played Kuyt along Torres and Maxi/Babel on the right.

Capello didn't get a single thing right in the world cup. Hart has looked exceptional this season, building off a really good season at Birmingham last year.

Hmm, not more to do with Liverpool's lack of team defending and not recognising/organising who's picking up the spare man from midfield?

 

I remember Rafa questioning Gerrards tactical awareness regarding playing him in central midfield, which is why he eventually moved him up to play off the main striker. Already seen a bit if evidence of some dodgy defensive work on his part.

Yeah, Gerrard would have to be in there alongside a Masherano for it to work. Having him alongside Lucas is a recipe for disaster.
