That combo of Micah Richards and SWP on the right is atrocious. Think Richards should just focus on the centre back position. Just too awkward to play full back. Hart sticking it to Shay with his other worldly performance has been great.

SWP still starting for City is fail. Also why the hell is there 3 defensive midfielders on the pitch for City.

I watched City play Valencia last weekend and De Jong sat deepest while Barry and Yaya were given some license to get forward while still doing a defensive job when not in posession.

Can't really comment on how good a leader he is, only the players know that.  Would say the captain should be someone who plays every game of the season if fit though for consistency's sake, and I'd hope that wouldn't be the case with Nolan

We're talking less than £1 million though! Straight from Uruguay too so his wages would be very manageable. It would be a great deal. Turned 28 this year which isn't that bad really. Three year deal till he is 31. Sorted.

Today's actions shouldn't be a surprise, his agent did say "Hatem will go to Newcastle", people just didn't take the quote in the literal sense.

Probably get a bit of stick for this, but I'm more excited about this than I am about the Ben Arfa acquisition, and I am a fan of Ben Arfa's. However, I really detest our midfield as it is just so ponderous. Really hope we can add this guys toughness and energy to the mix.

I think it's a genuine 3-horse race between Chelsea and both Manchesters this year. Arsenal, Spurs & Liverpool for 4th place, probably in that order.

I just hope we beat City in the first game. If they get going early I think they'll be pretty damn good. Liverpool will only have a good season if everyone stays fit. It's going to be an almighty pile-up.

Watched City's first choice 11 against Valencia. Not sure your defence will be up to it if King and/or Woodgate are missing.

Moussa Dembele linked to Fulham for £5 million. That's a really decent pickup for that price. Would have liked to see Newcastle in on that.

I think it's always been clear we had not done anything wrong. People just want to imagine this is the case in order to continuously have a go at the owner. At the end of the day Ben Arfa looks like he is a bit of a tricky character, and so a loan with a view to a permanent deal is ideal. I imagine most clubs after him would be looking for this sort of deal. We met the conditions for this which they wanted, and now they're being silly. He would be a good addition, but ultimately I hope we move on to ther targets if this isn't cleared up soon.

What kind of a midfielder is Ramires? Anyone know much about him?

 

Defensive-minded midfielder. A bit peculiar though, wiry, thin... has monster stamina and a great pace. The kind of player that's everywhere. I would say he isn't technically great for a Brazilian, but breaks forward well with his athleticism.

But as well as agreeing to spread the £8million paid for Jones over a period of four years, Sunderland have also assisted Stoke with regard to the wages.
