Hope this spells the end of Butt. He kills us in these sorts of games he really does. At least Sam's made the right sort of changes. I think we could still get a result in the game.

Well we've managed to come in at halftime at 0 - 0. Let's see if Sam can tweak things a bit and get us going. I always feel Butt is the main problem. As a defensive midfielder he doesn't do enough. He needs to be able to get the ball off the defenders and get us playing. A skill he seemingly doesn't posess. I would love to see Rozehnal groomed to take over from Butt in that position.

Excellent point and I agree completely. Enrique and Beye will get forward and provide extra width for the team, and Emre and Geremi will do a good job of covering for them when they need to as well as assisting them defensively in general. I actually like this lineup a lot. Emre will do better out wide than he has done for us through the middle. I really only prefer Emre through the middle in a 4-3-3. Pleasantly surprised that Sam is giving the Owen and Martins partnership another go. Good stuff.

Not the most pacy midfield but they can all pass the ball very well (aside from Butt) and this should work very well for Martins and Owen upfront. Emre has played out wide for Turkey and should be comfortable there. I think this could work very well for this game. It is Reading afterall, and they are not the quickest team in the league or the strongest defensively. I don't think the lack of pace in the midfield will be as much of a problem. I think Emre will be a pleasant surprise on the left especially in linking up with Enrique who does such a good job of getting forward. I like the lineup

Ramos has already lost 3-0 to Arsenal this season. He is perfect for Spurs. He already has Harry Kewell lined up too.

I think Rozehnal will eventually play in midfield in place of Butt in the longterm.

To be fair I could see him do well at Bolton if I'm being honest. At least a lot better than what they are doing at the moment.

Beye was good but should definitely be better. You can see he is still adjusting to the pace of the premiership. He joined us so late and got thrown into the deep end thanks to Carr. I think he will definitely come good.

I never thought I'd see the day when we would be so tough at the back. We've had our moments back there but on the whole you can see the potential of this defence. They have confidence and don't play scared. Emre has been disapointing which has meant that we have had to rely on passing it long more than we should, but at least when going long we have tried to play Martins in behind a few times. Martins movement has been great by the way.

Any chance this is a 4-3-3 with Zoggy and Martins either side of Owen? Not sure I trust Butt. I think he might need a bit more support in midfield or our passing might not be good enough.
