  1. A lot of reports say Deschamps was on his way here today to have talks right? What are the odds he's unveiled at the game today?
  2. I hate the fact everyone compares the Keegan to Shearer too. Didn't Keegan take the job when we were out of the premier league? This is a completely different kettle of fish. I find this very irritating tbh.
  3. I think this is out of order from Shearer. If he has been told he isn't going to be considered this time around then why come out and state that you want the job? It only creates a tense situation. This is all everyone is going to be harping on about now, especially the media, it's like Shearer is trying to force the owner's hand. I don't like this at all. It's not fair. The last thing we need is the owners bringing in someone they didn't really want in the first place.
  4. Just seen that on the back of one of tomorrows papers. Deschamps and Zola? *faints* a good or bad faint? - Definitely good!

  6. omg. After they sold his best players and didn't give him the finances to bring anyone else in. The dude was out of there.
  7. Considering how badly the whole Redknapp thing looked I'm sure we have told each person we spoke to to keep it quiet as there are a number of candidates we are looking at. I wouldn't be surprised if we have spoken to both Houllier and Deschamps and they have been told to be discreet i.e. no blabbing to the media.
  8. Well, if it was a choice of the scum or us, most with ambition would be headed for the dark star, but I was told he was looking for £80k. As a said, that's too rich for Spurs' salary structure. Journo on a Spurs site is saying Diarra to Pompey tomorrow, £5.5m and £60k wages. Another one would have loved at WHL even if he was a scum reject. No way he would come in from the Russian league asking for that. Whoever told you that is lying to you. You guys really need to get over yourselves. If Berbatov came in and was happy to take £35,000 or whatever what the hell makes you believe this crap! Secondly if he is on his way to Arsenal I guarantee he isn't going to get that there. They don't throw that kind of money around ever.
  9. Wow .. I would have Arsenal's defence over Liverpools anyday. Kolo, Gallas, Sagna and Clichy? Yes please.
  10. Not quite ... just about half way there right now. Confirmation form the club though, and it could get pretty messy.
  11. I like the fact he's a bit of a tough guy too. No nonsense. Man ... this is sexy. Oh the possibilities. I really hope everything just falls into place now. All we have to do is finish the season comfortably without getting pulled down any closer to the zone, and then we can just push on from all of this drama. Freddy is dead! No part of him is here anymore, time for some better days hopefully.
  12. He speaks English, French, Spanish and Italian by the way!
  13. He's got a world class football mind which is half the battle. Wasn't afraid to tell Juve to f*** off either. That's the thing. The guy has got principles. He doesn't hang around if people mess him about. He could be excellent if we really back him and support him, which Mort and Ashley seem like they will do. This appointment is just sexy. It's fresh, exciting and not obvious. It makes you feel a bit anxious, but the potential for it to be great is there. It would be a nice long term move. The guy is young and hungry and has been looking for the right conditions without any compromises. He will certainly want to prove a point. Please God! This is the type of move you would see Arsenal make and not us. Maybe things are finally changing around here.
  14. Excellent! Could step into midfield ahead of Butt too! Get him in pronto!
  15. Deschamps is crazy ambitious. I wouldn't be surprised if he was really impressive in his interview with Mort. His biggest issue at his previous clubs was control over signing players, which is why he wanted to get a premier league job, as he felt that the premier league clubs gave their managers the most control. At Monaco they let Morientes, Giuly and Evra leave after that succesful campaign. At Juventus they tried to force Tiago and some other player on him, who he didn't want.
  16. Woo Hoo!!! Deschamps was making a lot of positive noises just before Christmas about wanting a Premiership job. He was a target for Chelsea before and after Mourinho let's not forget! Parky where are you mate? I told you I would have a word with my mate Didier didn't I Alan Oliver screws up yet again
  17. Might be a bit risky to give them permanent deals right away, but a decent loan fee as well as looking at a view to a permanent deal should work. Houllier might be able to pull it off as he is a big name and is actually respected in the game. I imagine both players would want to come too, as they both did well for him at Lyon.
  18. I think Houllier signed Fred as well didn't he? Both Tiago and Fred are available at the moment ... If we could get them both on loan, with Houllier and Alan coming in, that would be sweet.
  19. If we brought Mourinho there would still be someone who would complain. That's just the way it is.
  20. Nothing really jumps off the page at you. That's worse than i thought. That's a shocking transfer record! I'd have been happy with Hyypia, Henchoz and Riise at the time though tbh, wouldn't you? None of those were really that expensive either. he was clearly trying to build a squad of players.
  21. Didn't it? Is Mick not thinking of Houllier/Evans? Maybe, there was no number one with them two was there? Evans was manager and the Liverpool board brought Houllier in to work with him as a joint manager, that was never going to work tbf, it would be like bringing in Houllier to work with Allardyce if he was still here. I can't see what problem Shearer would have working under him, it's a great learning experience and he'll know that the foundations are down for him to step in when Houllier retires or moves upstairs. Exactly! Completely different situation where Liverpool obviously didn't feel like Evans was doing enough and so brought in Houllier to 'support' him. That was just crappy. This way however, they both come into it at the same time to work together as a team. It would be a great next step for Shearer to learn while having a chance to make a contribution. Houllier is also very experienced now and has achieved pretty much everything and so I feel he will be more open to this. He really doesn't have much else to prove to anyone and so he will be more willing to play this role. I think he will be more receptive to Shearer and won't feel it would have to be his way and his way only.
  22. Managers who prefer that type of football will better identify the players who excel at playing this way though surely?
  23. By the way ... what evidence do we have that Shearer will not be happy to be a number 2? You hear it all the time from everyone except him. Is he really that arrogant? If so why? He's never managed anyone before, and I really can't see why he would be against starting off as the number 2 to an older experienced guy like Houllier who he would know for certain that he would eventually take over from. Especially as he would be jumping straight into premier league management, which even Roy Keane didn't do, with no contacts or anything. I think we ought to give Shearer a bit more credit. I think he would be happy with that.
