He still should have just kicked it out for a corner like

    100% on Mendy that.

Yeah, no doubt, but I get his frustration. Wasn't expecting James to suddenly bail out of position, and his hesitation then screwed him.

Yeah. I guess, finances might dictate this, but I'd rather have a Pulisic and a Maddison, keeping Bruno as the DM.

I was leaning towards this before, but I 've gone the other way now.

I think when teams sit deep like Forest did. I'd rather have him further up in more dangerous positions looking to make things happen.

And then against Brighton where they used the ball so well. I didn't really like him as our last line of defence in midfield. Think we can do with a more physical, aggressive and combative presence in there, who can use the ball well enough to just rotate the ball and find the midfielders ahead of him that then initiate chances.

Alvarez, up until recently, has been pretty average, honestly. Up until last year, the guy was your basic cdm grafter; great defensively but couldn’t pick out a pass with any real precision. Not sure why but he’s been sooo much better with his passing recently and looks like a really good midfielder now.

If you’re looking for someone energetic to break up play and lay it off, he’s very decent; just don’t expect any visionary chance-creating passes from him. In saying that, 50m seems an outrageous fee for the guy.

    We have Bruno for that.

He's a top DM with incredible passing, and can chip in with a fair few goals, but to make him our goal threat is wasting him. We need a Maddison/Cannibaga to be the goal threat.

He wouldn't be our goal threat. He'd mostly be our door opener with his playmaking higher up the pitch, while chipping in the odd goal.

If we are bringing in a DM to push up and free Bruno up more, I'm thinking we have a goal scoring right winger lined up on loan now. Probably Pulisic.

  5. Can see why Mendy was fuming on that goal he messed up on.

Reece James bottled it. Should have dropped into that space on the right. But instead moved up and was telling Mendy to go long when he was aleready under pressure.

    Sold Mendy down the river.

I think Gallagher overall been fine. He will definitely be an upgrade on Willock

Terrible game for him to come into and hasn't been helped by the shockingly slow Jorginho.

Not sure we're actually after him anymore though. Think we may push Bruno further up and sign a DM.

I’ll be honest I wanted a bigger name, hold my hands up was wrong.

    No big deal

Loads didn't rate him and were quick to write off any names from teams lower down.

Just shown that Brenden Aaronson's touch map on SkySports and he's been absolutely everywhere

The kid is a menace. He is so quick and is absolutely relentless.

Carries the ball very well too and looks like he can spot a pass.

That’s the “he’s not for sale” line blown out the water.

Watford are a selling club. He's had that £30 million price on his head all summer.

That Pozzo family have the Udinese connect and a lot of relationships with agents, and so they are always happy to sell and go looking for other talents.

Probably more of a Shelvey replacement in terms of playing as a deep midfielder. Won't have the attacking threat but could help unshackle bruno and joe from defensive duties, letting them be nuisances much further up.

Yeah, he'd be more of a defensive midfielder that sits in that deep role giving Bruno more license to roam and look to open things up and be a goal threat like he was at times last season, which he tended to do a bit more when Shelvey was sitting in that deeper role.

After seeing the joy Brighton had against us, I also think against teams that use the ball better we'd be better served having a legit DM that is more defensive minded in there.

  11.

This is the most legit source for the Alvarez link.

Says the initial 30 million euros offer was verbal and that discussions are continuing.

No mention of them not wanting to sell before the world cup and no mention of them wanting 50 million euros (like the other tweets claimed).

This one may well have something to it.

If that's true then Anderson is probably not for them. Murphy though could be handy at that level if it's mainly 'prospects' they have.

Someone posted a link to their club page where they had like 6 strikers all ranging from 21 to 24 years of age I think.

That connection with Udinese has them constantly cycling in all sorts and I think some of them will inevitably be quite handy.

If I'm not mistaken they already even have another young Brazilian attacking player that is quite highly thought of at the club. Not sure they'll be impressed by Murphy at all.

Had him in from the beginning. Seemed like the easiest choice of all tbh - I’m amazed he wasn’t owned by everyone.

    Fair play. Nice pick

I think most tend to look for full backs that can get forward and get some assists and the odd goal.

If he was actually available for that price he would have been gone by now.

I think the owner wants the full fee for Paqueta upfront, which is causing the issue.

I believe we paid Bruno's initial fee all upfront too? If I'm not mistaken.

Interesting that Fab is specifying that it's verbal, rather than an official bid. He does have good connections at Watford so maybe they're keeping him in the loop.

Makes sense why the other reporter was saying there has been no further bid from us after the first one. Looks like they have been verbal.

  16. 1 minute ago, Rich said:

Aye, not sure bidding high on your opener is ever a viable strategy when you appear to be the only buyer.

Yeah, left to some folks on here though, we'd be doing that every time. And clubs would just push the price up.

  17. 1 minute ago, Optimistic Nut said:

Pretty sure if we threw in Murphy or Anderson on loan as part of it they'd accept given they're losing 3.

    Watford are fine for players.

They already have other prospects that will be introduced into the team.

If they do go into the market it will be for players much better than anyone we would give them.
