Am I missing something with Cucurella? He's looked decent but 62 million seems insane especially when you signed Chilwell for huge money a year ago.

Chelsea are doing way too much. They're embarrassing. Think it's all going to blow up in their face.

I just hope we are poised to nick some players off them while they're overdoing things and continuing to pile players in.

Barnes out for a bit as well. Feels like it could be a bit of a perfect storm of crap for Leicester this season. Going to be interesting to see how Vardy fares now he's knocking on a bit too.

Wasn't @Foxedup saying that Rodgers has refused to take heed about changing his methods which have been leading to a bunch of injuries?

They have a bunch of injuries every season. This might lead to Rodgers getting binned if anything. Crazy that Ricardo is injured again and Barnes is out now too. Damn!

He's not getting anywhere near the shit you're making out he is.

In fact, he's quoting people's opinions and thoughts (like what a forum is for) with attitude: "Sigh" and "How many times do I have to say this". But most replies are just discussion, good old fashion discussion.

Foxedup seems a really reasonable guy man. He has not had an attitude.

People are just getting stroppy with him because he's not telling them what they want to hear.

As usual folks have gotten worked up over the Maddison link and are getting emotional and annoyed at the thought it won't happen.

An encouraging sign and I think a good decision. With 5 subs and hopefully a decent run in the (whatever it's called this season) cup he should get enough game time and as others have said we have a set up now that is much more likely to help him develop than before.

I think this decision might also have come about due to Shelvey's injury, as he will take a while to recover, but then also get back up to speed fitness wise.

Gives Anderson a chance to be part of the second team group of central midfielders with Willock and Longstaff.

Even at LB that's a nice signing.

    Cornet Scamacca Bowen

    On paper that's a nice front 3.

Think it's a waste. He racks up so many goals and assists further up the pitch. And if West Ham use him further up on one the wing they could be a serious headache this season.

    Great signing for West Ham.

Can only hope Moyes is a bit daft and plays him at left back and not further forward in one of the winger slots.

Would have been great on the right for us.

Fuck me, man. The point was that Howe has clearly emphasised getting the right characters in and time has been spent scouting players that not only fit into the team, but buy into the collective approach towards progress etc.

    It's not difficult.

Where did you read about such concerns with Cornet?

I do wonder why it's taken Burnley so long to offload Cornet at such a reasonable price.

It's a great price, but because it's a clause it has to all be paid upfront.

Teams are apparently trying to come to an agreement with Burnley on this i.e. to pay in instalments. Likely Burnley will only agree to this if teams then paid more than the release clause.

I think he's suggesting that Cornet plays as an individual, rather than a team player. I don't think he's making assumptions on his personality but more on the type of player he is on the pitch.

To be honest he isn't that type of head down individual player even.

I swear people never saw the guy play as a winger in France. Managed to find a scout report from 2017-2018 where he played on both wings and also as an attacking midfielder, so everyone can read for themselves. This guy is not just some bog standard winger.

Also below are his scouting numbers for what we need most, goals and assists (via fbref), from the 2018-2019 Ligue 1 season, where he played a lot on the right wing.

So that would mean we would still need to find striker cover for Wilson (I'm hoping Howe isn't really going to be prepared to rely on Wood this season).

We've been linked with a lot of young talented strikers.

I think once we get the winger we want, and depending on how much we've spent on the winger, we'll then sign one of the strikers we've had our eye on.

You replied to a quote agreeing about a comment that was about me

I highlighted the bit in his post I responded to, which was talking about the fans general sentiments this time last year.

And in my response I specifically said 'We've', again specifying that I was talking about the fans in general.

    I wasn't referring to you.

You can do whatever you like, whether you think it's shit patter or not, I'd say it's because there's obvious truth in it and you have no answer for it. It's looking a gift horse in the mouth and taking things for granted in the extreme to be disappointed in these circumstances imo

We were begging for the club to just try less than a year ago, now we're possibly having to fall back on players we would have been nowhere near because we've missed out on some of the most promising players out there. It's crackers.

It's amazing man. We've gone from that to 'We're the richest club in the world, just pay the money and show the ambition you promised Bruno!'.

Despite them telling us and Bruno that it would be a step by step process. But people convinced themselves they just said that 'to keep prices down'

If he was brought in along side Maddison I’d be all for it but If he was the main attacking signing of the summer it’s very underwhelming. To be seriously linked with Diaby, Maddison, Barnes, Harrison and even Paqueta all players who potentially take us closer to the next level to end up with Cornet just isn’t that exciting.

If we are talking about that right hand side specifically, only Diaby and Paqueta would be better prospects than Cornet from those you've listed.

Yeah, he looked a wonderkid a few years back when he burst on the scene at 17 I think it was. Haven’t followed him at all since then though, did his career stall?

Got back on track at Lille.

Price is due to him being in the last year of his contract.

Regen and a half that. What a name.

Nigerian name. The funny thing is that last name is such a basic name in the part of Nigeria he's from. Much easier to pronounce than you might think too.

If we only have 40M left on our budget for this window then that was never going to get Maddison and following some really sound transfers, why would we ignore more pressing positions?

If not getting Maddison means we get a decent back up striker and a winger then let’s hope we don’t get Maddison.

Really hoping that we’re just circling and about to bring in 2 or 3 next level players.

I think it all depends on the money being paid upfront. If we end up bidding £60 million for Maddison, but with just £30 million upfront, maybe they accept?
