He's to take some of the blame for this. SMT & Fred can only play halfway decent in a double pivot.

Yeah, I guess it's on the manager for starting them.

What the hell have they been doing all summer? Just go and get some midfielders. My goodness.

    Caicedo looks brilliant

Brighton are exceptionally well run. He's just slotted in like it's nothing. They've lost their best midfielder in Bissouma, and no worries, this kid just steps in. They've also somehow turned that Mac Allister into a central midfielder now too.

  3. They've done Ten Hag proper dirty man.

You can tell the approach is a lot better, but they haven't given him the players.

Fred is a disgrace as the lone pivot and McTominay is clumsy on the ball and just dithers.

Where is Van de Beek?! Surely he has to be in this team? Fred and McTominay are bloody tragic for this style of football.

It'll be because they hadn't planned to sell him yet. They'll want compensating for that.

Yeah, this is supposed to be his big season as he didn't really start next year. He's supposed to be stepping into the slot that opened up with Adeyemi leaving, and they'll be anticipating a big season and therefore a big fee for him next summer, and so they are taking all of that into account.

There's a time and place for everything. It's shitty parenting.

Tell your little girl that it's not the right time, and he likely wants some time to himself and a rest after a 90 mins match. Instead he's gone hunting the man down in the train and being a nuisance.

No matter what these players do it will never be enough. My God.

The most damning thing I can say about Gerrard, is that I think Lampard is a better manager.

At least Lampard had the balls to swallow his pride and play more conservative at Everton. At least Lampard has had a galvanising effect on their club.

Gerrard has been given the keys to the bank and still can't get a tune out of them. I knew something was wrong when I saw that stupid narrow formation he employs.

Didn't he leave Buendia on the bench yesterday? Get a bid in Eddie.

    Actually agree with this 100%.

Everton play with a lot more energy and are more interesting going forward. Lampard for the most part just seems to be naive defensively, which can be ironed out.

Gerrard's Villa just don't quite seem to be clicking, despite a really decent squad at his disposal.

Thing is, if he just spends the first 45 mins playing the team game, everybody will be less frustrated if his individual attempts fail. In fact, you find yourself longing for him to do something. Keeps everybody happy.

Linking up more will only open up more space for him to take players on, because the other team will feel more hesitant to just close him down with multiple players like they often did last season, as it will free up too much space for other runners.

He's getting a much better understanding of that now, and both he and the team will start to benefit big time.

And they do it well, with the added bonus that Bruno can do what he does. I think he's free enough. We might come unstuck at times, like I say, and if we can get a CDM with Bruno's technical ability then we should sign them. Oh we did. He's Bruno. With three hardworking CMs playing for each other, I don't think you necessarily need that specialist.

It would certainly be handy for 4-6 games, but anybody of any quality will want to start every game, and I'd rather take an extra 10 goals, any day of the week. If such things could be guaranteed.

Yeah, I agree, I like how it works right now.

I think when Bruno is central he completely runs the show from top to bottom and start to finish. I really like him in that spot.

  9. Been watching Toulouse vs Nice while waiting for the Prem games, and Nice have been poor so far.

Toulouse on the other hand have been class, especially considering they've just come up.

Gouiri and Thuram from Nice who we were both linked with have done nothing.

    "much higher" could be £50million.

    Yeah, exactly.

Think the offer mentioned would be a fair one, as he hasn't really established himself yet, despite the potential.

30 million Euros upfront with additional money to take the fee much higher, if certain targets are hit is a really good offer.

You can't fix what they all to a man think is perfect and something we should adopt.

They get way too hype in an awkward way that doesn't quite work for football.

It's fantastic for their NBA and NFL coverage though. Just a cultural thing I guess.

    What was that defending ?

    So so bad

But it's the commentary that kills me, I get the same cringe when I hear brits do commentary on basketball.

Not sure how they can fix it.

    Is he fucking tripping?

I mean by all means write an article explaining why you think Gerrard is a good fit for Villa, but to drag us into it is just lunacy.

    It was so pathetic

His incredulity at the thought we'd want to interview Gerrard was incredible

Even had a pop at the Howe signing saying it was underwhelming. Shocking article.

I personally think we'd be worse off if Rafa had been available when the takeover happened and we went for him

No chance whatsoever. With the backing from the owners and the fans Rafa would have shone too.

However, Eddie is a better fit IMO, because he's less rigid tactically, is a bit more relatable with the players, his style of football is also more attack minded, which inspires the crowd more.

    Cracking signing.

Yes, very very good signing. Looks like Campos is actually going to have PSG in very good shape this season. They are really getting some well rounded top players that aren't just big names.

Yeh he was always going to shoot from there, just needed to curl it more rather than whack it and it could've gone round the defender and keeper. Wilson angry about it but don't think it's an issue, should be more angry at Miggy for not taking that shot on with this right foot.

The side foot curler controlled shot needs to be a whole training session each week!

Even Joelinton after that fantastic run should have gone for that sort of shot at the end, but was looking for power and scuffed it.

We don't really have someone in the team that uses that kind of shot regularly. It's my favourite type of shot, and is so tough to stop when mastered.

I don’t mean it as it’s a limit, maybe they just feel for this part of the rebuild that it’s better to target them from the prem or French league. Or maybe our existing set up has better knowledge of those markets. I could be wrong of course, but most of our targets are seemingly from those 2 leagues so far.

Ah, I see. I think we'll be looking all over to be honest.

Diaby was a very strong link and he's in Germany. In January we were really pushing for Carlos from Sevilla. We appeared to really want Nunez and he was in Portugal etc.
