I know Graeme Bailey is despised on here but will share anyway ... He is now saying that Chelsea are willing to sell Madueke and are just wanting their money back on him i.e. £30 million. Says we have been following him for a while, are set to bid and Madueke is willing to join. Deal is an absolute no brainer if that is all true. https://tbrfootball.com/newcastle-expected-to-bid-for-50000-a-week-chelsea-player-and-he-is-willing-to-join/

You have to read through my original post. My point was that if money is indeed tight, I would prefer the Guehi money be used across the 2 positions rather than only him and then no winger. Yet to be determined if this will indeed be the case, regarding no winger of course. Just as a very quick example of players we have been linked with that have already moved. Both Huijsen who moved to Bournemouth and Soule who moved to Roma, cost a total of around £40 million. I'm sure there are other far better examples of players out there. As we have been linked with many within a decent price range. A deal for Todibo and Gonzales is going to be around £70 million too.

No disrespect to Miggy, but my point is that it won't take massive money to upgrade on him significantly. I'm not talking a small upgrade on him at all.

No, you can leave Minteh in. However, that wouldn't be accurate. You'd then have to take either Bruno out for Longstaff or Gordon out for Barnes.

Think we'll find out really soon, if they've been deliberating over the weekend. Must be a decent bid. Quite comfortable with whichever way this goes now, as there are alternative options lined up. Just ready to get some players in. Hopefully that will include a right wing option.

Some interesting bits from that Daily Mail article: - Says Malick Thiaw wasn't as keen on a move to Newcastle as he wants to play Champions League with Milan this season. - Also says Palace are willing to make Guehi one of the highest paid players in club history to keep him. - Also, although Guehi is the preferred target, if the next bid is unsuccessful, we have other targets we will move for.
-
Very excited about his potential. Think he's going to be a massive surprise this season too.

Going to be really interesting to see how things end up once the window closes. If the budget is tight, and this isn't just posturing from the club, I do wonder if we're aiming too high for improvements at the RW and CB positions. We have a manager that is really good at getting the best out of players with a decent level of ability and a good attitude. And to be honest upgrading Miggy doesn't require an extraordinary right winger. Meanwhile the centre back that comes in just needs to be a younger talent at the position that can eventually grow into taking over from Schar. I'd much rather we made signings that improved both positions a decent amount, at a lesser cost for each, than sacrifice one of the positions altogether for a bigger improvement in just one area for a large fee. Let's see what happens.

Apparently hadn't trained for a week due to recovering from a concussion, according to Howe after the game. Likely why he looked so tired.

He's got the ability, and there's a gap in the England team at that spot, and so I'm sure he'll be pushing for it, and that would have been in his thinking when deciding to join up with Howe again. -

I know what you mean. Looked more physically and athletically ready than Harrison, who was a bit overwhelmed in the first half. Actually checked on Hearnes background during the game. We signed him from Shrewsbury Town last year after he had just broken into their first team at 17. Round about the same time we signed Sanusi. So one of the many promising youngsters we've brought in over the past year or so. https://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/football/shrewsbury-town-fc/2023/09/01/travis-hernes-completes-move-from-shrewsbury-to-newcastle/ -

Stood out for Bournemouth whenever I saw him feature for them. Was surprised at the reaction to the signing, as most seemed to think he was just basic squad filler. -
Yeah, I know. I'll just leave it at this. I was hoping to see a more technical striker, rather than just pure physicals, and I think he at least leans towards the technical side and will have a chance to develop more that way. And so I'm excited to see how that plays out going forward.
-
Yeah, hopefully find out either way this week now.

No big deal man. Just having a bit of fun. The way that moment played out was just nice to see. Looked very confident, which is half the battle. If he had awkwardly miscontrolled the ball out for a goal kick, or scuffed the finish wide, looking like Jackson and Nunez usually do in those situations, it would have been at least a little disappointing. Looks really self assured.

The DeLigt transfer only went through today after how many weeks? Just need to let this one play out whichever way it ends up. Sure we'll have back up options if it goes left.
-
I doubt you've ever moved that fast in your life! Brought the ball down that well, then got it out your feet to finish while moving at that speed! Simple run and finish?! Must be why Jackson and Nunez screw up chances like that all the time. Doing that at a snails pace in your 5 a side league isn't the same thing!

No word yet I don't think. Looked like he walked off okay and didn't look distraught, so I'm guessing it was a slight tweak or a bit of tightness. -
If that's what you saw good luck to you. I have no words.
-
I'm glad to hear it. I was so shocked man! Got me good and proper there!

Once this guy settles in and gets some training sessions in with the team I think we're going to be very happy with him. So much to like from him today. All the physical tools were on display along with some decent technique, and played with a lot of confidence and energy. Not a bad performance after a couple of days at the club.

Yeah, he can be a bit hit and miss at times, but he can still improve, as he only just turned 22 this year. He loves taking on defenders over and over again and I'd gladly accept that as a starting point to build from. Pains me the lack of one on one ability from both Miggy and Murphy on that side.
