  1. Sesko wasn't a regular starter last season. It was Adeyemi and Okafor starting upfront.

That's why his numbers don't stand out. He's stepping into the starting lineup this season and it's going to be his year.

  2. I'm bored ...

Was looking at some young strikers on the scoutedftbl website (which is really good), and I think the Hoffenheim striker, Georginio Rutter will be on our list. Same age as Ekitike, and also a well rounded forward that can also play on either wing. He's also two footed, with a slightly stronger left foot.

Looks like we were linked with him when he was leaving Rennes a couple of seasons back to join Hoffenheim. Same agency as Joelinton and we've done business with Hoffenheim fairly recently. Also the same agency as Draxler who we have been randomly linked with of late. Maybe we're looking at a different player under their books?

Nope, was scratching my head for a minute but then remembered a post about some young kids being brought out for the trip.

I suspect Dummett breaking down and the managers complete lack of trust in Lewis means he wanted to have a proper look at this kid.

He did well considering, looks pacy and confident on the ball. Few misplaced passes later on but we were under pressure at that point. Providing Targett can stay fit, this lad should be an able understudy. We do also have Dan Burn who can play that position so we should be ok there.

Lewis apparently looked great when he returned this summer and the staff were excited about him, but he got injured, and is just now working his way back to fitness.

The manager does not have a complete lack of trust in him at all.

~20m for McNeil is bonkers if true. Still think he's a decent signing for them, and would probably have improved us as well, but surely there must be better out there for that price.

Young and English with any kind of potential is automatically £20 million minimum.

The only reason he's even gone for that is because they got relegated. If not Burnley would have been asking for more.

    Yup, pretty much.

  6. There's always some tasty deals towards the end of the window. I feel like Spurs have typically been involved in loads of those.

From what I saw against Benfica, I think we can afford to be patient and wait till we get a bit further along towards the end of the window now, if it means we ultimately get higher quality players in.

Yeah I totally get that. On the one hand I like that this season feels unpredictable and that there are maybe more teams than ever challenging for top four or top six. That’s definitely good for football.

The problem is, my true wish is for Elite level football to be boring and predictable in that Spurs win everything.

Nothing is sweeter than winning a league or competition that is more competitive. Absolutely nothing better than that.

PL fans.... have this weird relationship, almost crabs in a barrell like mentality. That we hope clubs that give it a go fail. If not us, I would love for Villa or Leicester or whoever to make that level up permanently. To show others that it can be done.

Some other fans are doing it with us. If it's for moral reasons I don't mind. But purely footballing reasons, isn't 7 teams that can really compete better than 6?

I'm with you on this. I want the whole league blown wide open, with competitive games for everyone week in and week out.

I think Chelsea are going to dip this season, as there is a whole lot going on over there at the minute. Liverpool might also do so too a bit, adjusting to the loss of Mane and getting Nunez acclimated. And although Haaland has joined Man City, I think they could even need to adjust as well, as they have lost their two most dynamic and direct wide players in Sterling and Jesus.

Going to be a heck of a season IMO.

Looks like McNeill to Everton is close to being completed

Good move for him. Frank is very attack minded, and is also decent with young players.

Looks like he'll get to play on the right side now too, as Gordon plays on the left.

He's going to do well there.

Howe confirmed Shelvey’s issue after the game at the Estadio da Luz

“Jonjo, it looks like a hamstring problem,” the 45-year-old said. “I don’t know any more than that at the moment. Really disappointing, he’s worked so hard to keep himself fit and be in a good place physically. Any injury would be a blow to him and for us, so fingers crossed it’s not bad.

Looks like it was a hamstring injury rather than a knee, so good news in that respect, hopefully the hamstring injury isn't severe.

Opinions, he was at fault for a lot of goals last season, i just don't rate him.

I like him, but he made a few individual errors last season. I gave him a pass for Chelsea's goal as it was a sublime touch and finish, but he also came charging out of defence leading to the Everton winner. Happened a couple of other times too, but he got away with it.

I'm not taking away the immense amount of positives he brought, such a leadership, solidity and a bit of composure on the ball, but he does have a concentration issue.

He's a very aggressive defender, it's always easy to remember the few times it cost us, but no one is taking note of the numerous times he did the same thing and won or cleared the ball.

His defending won us far more points than it cost us. Weren't we one of the better defences in the league from January onwards? And he was clearly the main catalyst.

Enjoyed that! Was more like a Europa qualifier, their free kick, can’t complain, first goal, Lascelles.. just terrible positioning and mistiming the jump. Hopefully he won’t play much.

I think it’s going to be fair to say our strongest midfield will be Bruno, Joelinton and Shelvey but Willock looks sharp as well, ideally be great if someone else came in there to give us something different.

Almiron looks confident which bodes well but we need more down that side.

We need another striker, I think assuming Wilson will carry the burden could backfire massively.

Maxi had a better game for what we saw of him. He’s the strongest option at forward left we have. Anderson should be his backup there, whatever position he played at during the first half didn’t do him any favours but can obviously mix it at this level.

He was on his man. Trippier didn't mark his and he tried to come over to help. Come on man.

Schar and Botman is quite good but Burn or Lascelles having to come in worries me, neither are good enough.

Chill man, we just played Benfica for goodness sake, and they're further along in their pre season.

Can't believe you're already throwing away everything Burn did second half of last season. Now he's not even good enough to be a sub for us? Wow.

We can't not ever concede a goal you know. Come on.

What I meant is: he usually favors Benfica a lot in games that are worth nothing as a way of eliminating the idea that he hates Benfica. In important games he always pushes us behind as far as he can.

Ah, I see. Interesting. Sounds like he's a bit of a lunatic

He actually hates Benfica, and he always does this when he's whistling Benfica's friendlies OR games at the end of the season once we're out of the race. He's taking the piss.

If he hates you lot, goodness knows what he thinks about us then!

Others think not, I might be thinking of something else but I thought I remembered Barton missing one after being sent off in pre season.

I hope not man, would be so tragic.
