  1. Rodriguez is a sexy c***.

    Pickford can play in traffic.

He’s class. Probably my favourite player in the league at the moment. Swap deal for Carroll?

The thought of Rodriguez in our team man.

  2. Can someone not tell him Brighton play a back 5 and play great football

Why is he equating that formation with the terrible football we play?! This is absolutely disgusting

He doesn't even realise he's exposing himself

  3. The only thing that saved him last season was falling back on the still stable defensive structure of the 3-4-3 we had played under Rafa. As he played this system against all sides in the division.

He completely ruined its effectiveness going forward, but the players that setup that way were still in place and pretty much still had the discipline to defend in that system.

He's now changed a bunch of players and is apparently introducing his front foot 4-4-2, while only then playing the 3-4-3 against the 'big boys' as he put it

It's all going to fall to pieces, because his 4-4-2 is still just as bad going forward, and is catastrophically open at the back.

    Let the chaos ensue.

  4. Will be watching, expecting an easy win for Burnley 0-3 , we hardly have a shot on target and the crisis begin.

    This will be fucking terrible.

Yeah, surprised that others think Burnley are some awful team at our level and it will be a 0-0 bore fest.

It will be plenty exciting for Burnley fans. There is a clear plan to their very direct play, and we will not be able to cope.

Especially, as they have players suited to their style, particularly out wide and up front. Lots of decent crosses into their big forward.

  5. Peak Pardew. COVID's fault.

Bruce’s men have lost only one of the six games they have played so far this season ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Burnley, although his attempt to introduce a more attacking style has been met with only limited success.

He said: “We all need time. It took a great manager like Jurgen a few years to get what you need. Every manager needs time, of course, because nowadays, you can’t just change it overnight.

“With transfer windows and especially now with what’s gone on in the world, it’s very, very difficult.

“Look, it’s still a work in progress – I know that sounds easy for me to say, but that’s what it is – and we are in the middle of change because I’m trying to change us from a team that plays with a back five and sitting deep into a more forward-thinking back four and playing from there.”

Newcastle have managed only three shots on target in the league in as many games and, although all three have resulted in goals, that is a statistic upon which Bruce, who hopes to have Allan Saint-Maximin back from an ankle injury to face the Clarets, knows they must improve.

He said: “I understand when you don’t play well or you don’t win, then of course there’s going to be criticism.

“But sometimes you ask for it to be a bit more balanced than it is. You accept that you’re going to be criticised, of course, that’s the nature of the job, especially these days. Whether you’re the Newcastle manager or the Rochdale manager, that’s the way it is.”

  6. I think they certainly like Bruce because he doesn't challenge them much. Training is apparently just a kick about from that information that leaked from his former player De Laet.

We all know Rafa was far more detailed and precise about things and perhaps some didn't fancy the extra work it took.

Once the humiliating losses and clueless performances really start piling up, they'll begin to realise their folly.

  7. Think Bruce will hate drawing Brentford.

He'd much rather a Prem team he can go and park the bus against and hope for a result. It's the likeliest way for him to fluke a result.

Against Brentford he can't justify that approach though and so he'll have to play a team to try and win the game, but unlike the League 2 teams we have played, they are far more equipped to take advantage of us in return.

This one could go very badly for him.

  8.

    You still don't get it.

I don't care if you think he's trash.

If people don't agree with that just don't let it wind you up.

It's actually you lot that jump on anyone that disagrees with you, just scroll through this very thread or any match thread.

Your lot were jumping down Lenny's throat just a page back for goodness sake

  9. If it helps Kaka, I certainly dont think Joelinton is the first player who should be criticised. Carroll,  Richie and Shelvey are particularly holding us back at the moment.

I think kaka ignores their threads criticising them though as it ruins his argument that we all love big Andy.

No, all I ever really said was that it was difficult to really know what we have in Joelinton because he was being used as a target man with balls lumped at him from the back, which was in complete contrast to the way he played previously where he was used to getting the ball into feet, in the numerous different positions he played.

This apparently winds people up, along with any observation of him doing anything well by myself or anyone. It's weird

It's like you can't talk about the guy's game unless you're saying how shite he is. What on earth is that about?

It's not the same with any other player, which is why this strange argument isn't happening in those other threads.

People were in the match thread praising Shelvey's goal, because it was a good goal, even though it was a League 2 side. So what? Do the same for Joelinton's goal against Morecambe, and here they all come! iTS A lEAguE 2 siDe THoUgh! hE'S sHIt! :laugh2:

    Bizarre stuff.

I praised his goal against morecambe, as did a number of other posters. Don’t pretend otherwise.

I'm not saying he should be praised.

It's the over reaction whenever anyone says he did well that's weird, and the strange idea that saying he did well means people are saying he's a class player.

Everyone can just relax. It's going to be a terrible season under Bruce, and no player is going to do anything of note while he's here.

  10. Even Burnley have a philosophy, it’s just an ugly one. We’re nothing. We’re not defensive, we’re not attacking, we’re not nasty, we’re not counter-attacking, we’re not gegenpressing. We have nothing about us, just eleven players thrown in a formation whether it’s 3-4-3, 4-3-3, 4-4-2 and we’re no better or worse using any of them.

    Exactly this.

    Bruce's tactics in a nutshell

    Bizarre stuff.

  12. Every player is mediocre under Bruce. Name one that isn't.

Absolutely nothing in the team is working. This fantasy that Joelinton is some outlier is dumb.

It's even more bizarre because when he does do anything well people complain about him more.

  13. He looked like he wanted the end of days as he was trudging up to take that penalty last night. Getting bogged down in body language isn't often a good way of analysing a player's psyche, but fucking hell. Looked like he'd rather be anywhere else on the planet then timidly kicked into the goalie's hands at a perfect height.

    The lad hates scoring goals.

Um ... that would be the whole team genius

Funny how you determine that from a penalty miss, but disregard the two he scored previously. What is wrong with you people?
