  1. We're not going to address the glaringly obvious issue we have in the centre of midfield are we. Hope the Longstaff's rediscover some magic.

Our centre backs just get pressured and bypass the midfield all the time when we have the ball, and when we sit deep and allow teams to pass the ball about the midfielders just run from side to side watching the other team pass it, so not sure if there's any point.

  2. Here we go again

The Joelinton obsession once again rears its ugly head

All because I said he was being misused by Steve Bruce and so any judgement of him is premature. This apparently means that I think he is world class. It's so cringeworthy it's untrue. You lot are the fan versions of our manager. Maybe he's perfect for this club

  3. What does Kaka think though? That's how I measure success and failure of a player.

Young Juan Roman Riquelme. Will revolutionise our attacking play this season, and then go on to join Arsenal next summer.

  4. Okay, I did think it was a mention. Sorry, I’m half asleep. The arm action is secondary to the leg action. In my opinion. That seems to be where Kimbo and I disagree, and I’m doing a shite job of explaining my argument. Yeah?

He practically takes his head off with his arm. I'm surprised you even noticed his legs in it

Not to mention he had a 30 yard full sprint leading into the elbow. I mean ... for goodness sake

He then stands up running off at the mouth to Glen Johnson as if nothing happened. Complete and utter Neanderthal.

  5. This quote form that article man. Basically what our strikers are now suffering under Bruce

"Every person in England knows Tony Pulis’s style,” he says. “I remember times when it was just myself in one half of the pitch, with two defenders behind me and one in front. So when the ball is coming and I go to control with my chest, if I turn right the guy on my right arm takes the ball, if I go left that guy takes the ball, if I control it in front the defender in front of me takes the ball. It was difficult. I tried to hold the ball and wait for my teammates to come.

“This was the struggle and I tried to do my best. And it’s OK, he brought me to the Premier League and that was a dream for me, so I will always say thank you to Tony for that. I always thought physically I could play in England because I love to fight with defenders, hold the ball, score with my head. But sometimes you’d get tired because you’d touch the ball maybe three times in the whole game. It was difficult but you had to find the solution.”

  6. If I was Bruce, I'd ask for a young, up and coming assistant manager to take reigns of the tactical side of the game, and training.

He can then continue to blow smoke up their arses and be a 'man manager'.

I've said this before also. It's a way he can make it work quite well for him.

However, he's so incompetent he just puts what I presume are pals of his as part of his staff.

This clown played for Man Utd for goodness sake. Think of the contacts he could tap into in the game.

Just get young assistants that are really into the tactical and analytics side and then be the man manager .

Big part of it is likely down to insecurity about that side of the game too. Would much rather just pretend none of that matters because he knows diddly squat about it and can't be bothered to learn.

Most managers are now clued up on this stuff though and so it's making us look incredibly bad when we face almost every other team.

  7. Joe Linton did ok yesterday, OK being that he put in the shift but didn´t really contribute in much of what he is supposed to do (create danger). I don´t think Bruce is doing a bad job with him, giving him minutes to build some confidence. I would love to see him come good and the only way is to build him up...

Bruces´ post match comments on the tactics (lack of) for yesterday were lamentable, reminded me of Pardew tbh.

Yeah, he did okay in the sense he managed to at least get the ball into his feet and so make a contribution at times.

Wilson has taken over his role from last season and so now he will be the one that is invisible for pretty much the whole game, as he was yesterday and at Brighton.

The reality is no one in our team 'creates danger' as you mentioned in your post because we never have the ball high up the pitch to give them a chance to.

Joelinton didn't, Almiron was even more absent, Wilson was completely invisible, neither of our full backs got into crossing positions and Shelvey and Hendrick never crossed the halfway line it felt like.

The whole team as any kind of attacking unit is completely defunct. The only player that can ever do anything in this mess is ASM because he has other worldly ability to run past numerous players from any area of the pitch.

The whole thing is a joke.

  8. Bruce will never change and unfortunately his coaching staff are also Z list. One of his most embarrassing performances was Villas play off final against Fulham where I don’t think they registered a shot on target.

It’s not an exaggeration to say we’ve got the worst manager in the league, the only manager i‘d hesitate swapping him for would be Scott Parker.

He simply doesn’t do tactics and has no defined style of play. Players love him because he doesn’t bore them with tactics and they get extra days off.

His management of injured players is also a testament to a bygone era, patch them up and send them out is Brucey’s mantra.

A worse manager we’d have done hard to find, the only plus side is he’s not a smarmy cnut like Pardew.

    Good post.

To hear our coaches barking loudly all game the most inane and basic instructions was embarrassing. It was the sort of thing you'd hear over enthusiastic parents yelling out at their kids' football match.

Just one point of disagreement I have with you. I would absolutely have Scott Parker ahead of Bruce.

There isn't a worse manager in the Premier League than Bruce.

I agree. We always look like part timers, barely knowing what to do with the ball.

  9. He could have played 4-2-3-1 with Joe on the left and Miggy in the centre.

Not to mention Joelinton has has also played on the right side at his previous club, and so they could have easily been swapped. It is less important for him to be on the left.

None of Bruce's decisions made any sense.

  11. He didn't sign Maddison or Barnes at Leicester either

Indeed! Both came in under Claude Puel. I stand corrected.

Brendan has still done a great job with them though as young players.

    It's all very depressing.

Barnes has always been with Leicester. Barely played at all under Puel and wasn't signed by him

Ah, okay. Amazing how he's coming along really. Looks an exciting prospect.

  12. Him & Leicester fit like a glove. Manager and club are near the best of the 'non-elite'. Their transfer policy is spot on and what Ashley should have done here. They sell their best players but go and spend £20-30m on a replacement and another first team player. Jealous of them.

He's excellent at signing players and bringing youth through to the first team. Signed Coutinho and Suarez at Liverpool and brought along Sterling.

Now at Leicester has signed Maddison, Barnes, Tielemans, Praet and now Castagne has also made use of some of their youth well too.

Were so far behind them as a club now it's untrue.

Pretty sure he didn't sign Suarez

My mistake meant Sturridge and Coutinho, who he both signed.
