Bellerin's knee has given out ... guy has terrible luck with injuries. Looks a long term one again.

If we were comparing Newcastle to American sports teams, who would we be similar to in terms of ownership, lack of titles in recent memory, etc? Trying to find a comparable team to educate my American friends.
New York Knicks.
Great fans.
A home ground everyone loves playing in.
Terrible Owner.
Haven't won a thing in yonks.
A mish mash of so so players.
Massive potential to be so great.

The state of Chelsea. Yikes.

Guendouzi is just 19 man. Wow. Tend to forget. Such a fantastic talent.

Well done today, much better recently, think we should only play him in the second half of each season
The current setup where he is one of two playing just off Rondon suits him better, which has been good for us.
When he is just one playing off a striker it's a lot more difficult for him. Hope we stick with this setup as it gets a lot more out of a number of our players.

Love seeing a young guy come through and deliver. This guy is a cool customer.
Such a nice story. The thought of Diame or Shelvey coming back in is actually a bit of a downer.
Hope he keeps his place unless he struggles a bit.

Fabian Schar was a pretty outrageous signing man ... what was it again £3.5 million?! My goodness!
Fernandez, Schar and Lejeune are just crazy good buys in this day and age. Would love to see all three feature together at some point.

Nah, I see Michael Carrick. More calm and cerebral than Hendo.

Spurs supporting mate reckons he’ll go Moura up front
They've been playing with two strikers all season though right?
No.
I can't see how Lucas plays up front as they need him on one of the wings.
Llorente
Alli eriksen lucas
They have no other players for the front 4? Is lamela still fit?
Oh dear ... yes they have
They've mostly played a diamond formation with Kane and Son upfront.

Spurs are playing Fulham and so I've taken a punt on Llorente, as I think he could do really well int he interim, and certainly in this upcoming game.
Looked really decent scoring that hat trick in the cup not too long ago, and he proved with Swansea that he can score goals in this league.

Shocked at how unstable mike Ashley comes across in the article.
Think it was a massive error selling the club to this guy in the first place, and a big blame has to be laid at the door of those that did.
Can't see a successful sale ever going ahead with this guy as he seems to be completely mad.

Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley 'feared being jailed in the UAE after insulting the Dubai royal family, Islam and Kevin Keegan in bar'
- Claims emerged in latest round of a dispute between Ashley and Tony Jimenez
- Sued Mr Jimenez over a 2008 French golf course deal and says he is owed £3m
- 'Disturbance' at Bahri Bar in Saudi Arabia took place in 2008, High Court heard
Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley feared being locked up in the UAE after insulting the Dubai royal family, Islam and Kevin Keegan in a bar, a court heard.
Detail of the alleged incident a decade ago has emerged in a ruling on the latest round of a High Court dispute involving Mr Ashley, who also owns Newcastle United, and former Charlton Athletic co-owner Tony Jimenez.
Mr Ashley has sued Mr Jimenez over a 2008 French golf course deal and says he is owed £3 million. Mr Jimenez, a former Newcastle United vice president, disputes his claim.
The judge, Chief Master Matthew Marsh, analysed a number of legal issues at a pre-trial High Court hearing in London in October and published a ruling relating to those issues on Wednesday.
He had been told about a 2008 'disturbance' at the Bahri Bar at the October hearing and has given more detail relating to 'allegations about the events' in his ruling
The judge said Mr Ashley had been accused of making remarks which 'included insults' to the Dubai Royal Family and the Islamic faith and its followers, and to former Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan.
Mr Ashley had said he 'may have made a 'regrettable' remark'.
Barrister Adam Johnson QC, who leads Mr Jimenez's legal team, had told Chief Master Marsh, at the hearing in October, that Mr Ashley's 'basic complaint' was that he was entitled to be repaid £3 million he handed over with the aim of acquiring an indirect interest in the Les Bordes golf course development.
Mr Johnson said Mr Ashley had given instructions for £3 million to be paid into a nominated company account, but had subsequently agreed that the money should be 'retained' in relation to work Mr Jimenez had done trying to find a buyer for Newcastle United.
He said Mr Ashley also agreed to hand over another £7 million.
Mr Jimenez said he had done a lot of work on the Newcastle sale and became 'increasingly concerned' after Mr Ashley refused to meet a potential buyer, who went on to buy Manchester City.
He had lined up further potential buyers and Mr Ashley had visited Dubai between September 13 and 18 2008 in order to meet them, Mr Johnson had said.
'Mr Jimenez says that on the evening of 16 September 2008, Mr Ashley created a disturbance in a bar in Dubai,' Mr Johnson told the judge.
''Although Mr Jimenez helped Mr Ashley minimise the impact of the trouble, it again ruined the potential sale of Newcastle United Football Club that Mr Jimenez had lined up.'
Chief Master Marsh added in his ruling: 'The defendants fairly submit that Mr Ashley was slow to engage with the allegations about the events on 16 September 2008 and that his initial account was guarded.
'He now says that he may have made a regrettable remark in the Bahri Bar, directed towards those with whom he had been in negotiation earlier that day.'
The judge said: 'Mr Jimenez says Mr Ashley made remarks that were much more widely directed and included insults to the Dubai Royal Family and the Islamic faith and its followers, and to Kevin Keegan.'
He said it was 'common ground that steps were taken by Mr Ashley to manage the way in which the event was reported' but said there were 'significant differences of recollection about the effect of the events'.
'Mr Jimenez says Mr Ashley was shaking and saying he and his business empire faced ruin,' said the judge.
'Mr Jimenez says Mr Ashley came to see him at 4 am on 17 September 2008 in a panic worried about being locked up in Dubai and facing adverse press reporting in the UK.'
Barrister Richard Lissack QC, who leads Mr Ashley's legal team, had told the judge at the October hearing that £3 million had been transferred 'at Mr Jimenez's direction for him to hold' for Mr Ashley for the 'agreed purpose of securing a shareholding in Les Bordes'.
Mr Lissack said Mr Ashley was entitled to the repayment.
He said it was 'inherently improbable' that Mr Ashley would have 'agreed to have gifted Mr Jimenez £10 million'.
The judge indicated that issues would be further analysed at another hearing.

Daily Mail article goes into a bit more detail. Including how Jimenez lined up numerous deals with prospective buyers, as he was being paid to do, and Ashley would miss the meetings and screw things up somehow. The Man City owners were one of them.

Feels good to win. Peculiar emotion.
I'm happy for the lads because they put a lot into that, in spite of the painful lack of quality all over the shop. Schar, Longstaff and Perez stand-out performers. Everyone else was either meh or pish.
Love it when Ayoze sticks his fingers up to the haters. He was class when he came on.
Ayoze was great. It's frustrating though, because when you see him run the channel like he had a chance to in that one situation, and then you remember how well he has done for us previously when played upfront, you can't help but wonder if we are misusing the guy.
He's being wasted at the number 10 slot, and it makes him look bad.
-
He's fantastic. Michael Carrick like midfielder. An exciting find in these rotten times.
-
Our new tactic should be to stick most of our players around the goalkeeper and get Schar to just keep shooting, then whenever the keeper spills, one of the other 9 players hanging around the keeper can just tap it in Stifler style. Can’t believe it hasn’t been done before.
Proper 'going for it' tactics. That should please the Rafa out folk
-
Perez looks a different class to the other forwards we've had on the pitch tonight.
He has come on when Blackburn have tired, and they are not defending him like Prem clubs typically would in that number 10 position.
I only wish at Prem level we would use him upfront or even let him drift in from a wide forward position.
Come Saturday, he'll be getting overcrowded int he middle of the pitch again and getting pushed over, unfortunately.
-
Murphy is really bad. Don't think he knows how to cut in from the left.
-
Just fucking play Fede & Lejeune at CB and keep Schar at CM
Genuinely a bit depressed that we may never see him in midfield again after today
liked the 4-3-3 setup we started with today with Schar deepest and two other midfielders pushing forward.
Think it would have been a lot more interesting with Rondon holding up the ball better up top.
-
Perez is most convincing when he is the furthest forward and can often get in those positions.
Let him play as a striker and run the channels all day long and get into finishing positions.
-
Schar is so much better at attacking than all our attackers
We wondered about Colo in midfield.
We wondered about Chancel in midfield.
Will we finally get our centre back to midfielder conversion?

It allowed me to put in both Sterling and Sane though, so it worked out for me in the end!
Finished on 86 points this week.
