The guy is just unreliable. The red card early last season put us in a rough position upfront, and messed him up as far as having him play as much as possible early on and settle in.

He then gets another red at the end of last season that puts him in a similar position to start this season, and he ultimately misses his chance to really stake a claim and compete with Gayle, and maybe even get a chance to force Rafa to try and feature them both.

This idea of playing youngsters in the cup against lower league teams is a bit of a weird one. It's such a pressure situation, lose and your out. These lower league teams are also chomping at the bit to have a go against a bigger club, especially when they see a bunch of youngsters in the team I'd imagine. Just gives them a greater impetus. Always end up putting too many youngsters in at once too.

Surely it's better just sprinkling a couple into the odd league game here and there, against the more rubbish teams who are suffering a bad run of form.

Aside from that though, is he actually that good. Just ambles about in midfield most of the time.
