Speaking of Szoboszlai as the market is understandably quiet this time of the season. What’s everyone’s thoughts on him after his first (almost) full season? Better deal than Maddison? Or would you stick and back Tonali to better them both?

Don't like Szoboszlai in central midfield. Seems a bit lightweight in there.

Liked him operating from wider areas when he was at Leipzig. Think it suits him better.

No free transfer is really a free transfer though, he'll have a large signing on fee and probably want his wages matched.

Feel like he's got the profile of a player who would move to Saudi

Could see him in Saudi tbf.

Signing on fee for him would be nowhere near a typical transfer fee nowadays. Wouldn't even reach double figures I don't think. He's not really in position to make crazy demands.

He's always been at Leicester so his salary isn't crazy. Highest I've just seen online is £75k.

Looks like he's completed 90mins only five times this season.

I bet he's on a lot of money too and I thought he looked really poor in his last Prem season

He was poor that last season coming back from injury for sure.

All depends on how he's looked this season, which I haven't paid enough attention to, and whether he is deemed a risk worth taking on a free to build up the squad.

Sounds like a signing we’d make under Ashley. Don’t want this type of players. I want hungry players that are on their way up. Real quality that can grow even further with us. We have enough dead wood already.

    I agree with you.

In an ideal world, all of our signings would be like so.

However, this FFP is a real issue. And so how do we improve significantly as quickly as possible without having to lose any of our best players?

If it means looking at the likes of Kelly, Tosin and Ndidi as free squad options, while then adding one or two younger, hungrier players like you mentioned then I'd understand it.

No chance we are in for Chiesa imo, seems like a lazy link.

We've been linked for a little while now and I've been following the reports.

Chiesa is going into his last year and he's been inconsistent due to issues with the manager and tactics, and Juve haven't been that great this year.

Apparently some youngster Yilmiz has done well deputising for Chiesa, and they want to go forward with him and not have to pay Chiesa as there are financial issues there too.

The fee they are after this summer will be around £45 million apparently.

You'd imagine there would be competition, but other clubs may hesitate due to his injury history, and inconsistent form of late. Might give us a chance.

Well worth a go for where we currently are IMO.

Sorry, what year is this?

I hear you bro, believe me!

He's still just 27 years old though and when fit we've seen what he can do. It would be a free transfer for a decent squad option.

If these kinds of moves are made and it means we can keep Isak, Bruno and any other key players, then I think I'd much prefer that tbh.

He plays on the left though, we’ve already got two right footed left forwards. I’d love him mind

Chiesa from what I've seen is a terror on both sides.

Isn't he pretty average these days?

He had a number of injuries their last few years in the Prem and his play suffered with the lack of consistency.

I haven't seen much of Leicester this year, but it looks like he has been available more this season and has played well.

As an experienced option that can come into the team as a more traditional defensive midfielder, could be a solid move on a free.

You to forgot to say it was Graeme Bailey who linked us so it’s utterly irrelevant

    I didn't forget anything.

The original article I read was from Harry Watkinson at Teamtalk, who had it as an exclusive, so it wasn't from Graeme Bailey.

I'm with you to an extent, but both Leeds & Gray have the option of turning down any potential transfer. If both agree to the deal then what's the issue? If Leeds don't get promoted this season he'd be daft to turn down any club at the top end of the PL.

I'd argue he'd be daft to leave Leeds tbh.

He's only just turned 18 this year and is a mainstay in the Leeds first team already, gaining huge experience at a high level.

Shouldn't be in a rush to leave his hometown club as they look like being promoted and he'll be featuring in the first team for them in the Prem.

If he moves now it will likely be to the bench of a top club where he likely will be playing far less.

I know "it's not the same" but there's a certain irony of us frothing at the mouth over having to sell Bruno, Isak or Botman to progress then salivating over the prospect of nabbing relegated/promotion team's best players. Especially newly promoted.

    Definitely a food chain  ?????

The Gray kid is shockingly good for his age. Unreal prospect IMO.

Agree with you on the irony of things. Terribly sad if Leeds have to sell Gray already considering the history of his family with the club, and the fact he's only just started emerging there.

Not surprised Klopp is going crazy, the amount of space Mainoo had initially was mad! Was like our midfield at times lately with no DM.

Liverpool have looked this way defensively all season. The midfield can be got at.

Similar to ours without Joelinton, they are not very athletic in there. MaCallister and Endo are limited in that regard and Szoboszlai is a bit lightweight, think he's more suited out wide.
